Wilson also is reluctant to take check downs, I mean he always looks down field for the big play which is a huge plus, but in the NFL he won’t have that luxury of being able to do that as much. If he gets drafted to the Jets then he def will need to learn to take check downs. Also his decision making needs to be improved. Even with all that I just said I’m a huge Zach Wilson guy and no matter what team he gets drafted to I hope he’s elite.
Looks like he learned, so far in preseason he has taken the check down when he needed to, but some of the other QBs have still shown the issue so I'm sure if it could be great coaching.
Great breakdown. A yeah and a half into his career it seems spot on. He's still bad at anticipation. You also mentioned him drifting back in the pocket & chucking it. Which he did against New England this year. (2022). His worst game. 3 picks. BUT the next game he threw for 75% and beat the dang Bills! So there's hope!
Funny how everyone agrees now that they have seen him for a horrible year and a half. He hasn't just been bad he's been toxic to the locker room, he most likely has been the worst starting QB in the NFL. There was not one game that the Jets won because of Wilson they won despite Wilson. Good for this guy who posted this, I responded two years ago hoping to God the Jets did not fuck up again on a QB, they did. Joe Douglas has done a great job he put together a really good team in a short period of time but he swung and missed on the most important pic he the quarterback. All Douglas and the Jets had to do was just pick the no brainer pick the easy pic it was Lawrence and Fields for how damn long? For the last 2 years they were going to be number one and number two. How you let some kid from BYU who can throw the ball far get between them and actually take him number two overall defies reasoning. I said it then, after watching as many BYU games as I could . How can it be so clear to me and the poster that the things Wilson did at BYU were not going to work against NFL talent on defense? So now the Jets go back to where they were in the 90s, in the 2000s, even going back to the '80s they've had really talented good teams that were capable of reaching Super bowls and never had the quarterback good enough to get them there. They're right back in the same place again picking Zach Wilson just set that team back 10 years unless they get really really lucky somehow if Mike White turns out to be some Tom Brady like star out of nowhere or they can get a free agent quarterback like Derek Carr they can't go back and draft another quarterback they're not going to have high enough draft pick to get one of the big names and really who cares if you get the big names most of them don't work out anyway. I knew Lawrence was going to be a star and he's just starting to show it Sam's last fuck you to the Jets for throwing him out there with no O line to get the shit beat out of him and ruin any positive success he Could have had was winning those two games to keep Lawrence from the Jets. Just imagine if we had this team exactly with this defense that's on its way to be a number one defense in the NFL with this wide receiving group thats very talented and when Breeze Hall comes back next year an electric tailback and not Wilson behind the line but Trevor Lawrence behind the line. Wow. If the Jets had Trevor Lawrence right now they would be headed to the playoffs, they would probably have three more wins(9 or 10 wins they would have won both patriot game S for sure)Lawrence's stats would be much better than they are even though they're very good now and the Jets would be on their way to being a Super Bowl contender for the next 10 years. Jacksonville comes in to play the Jets the Thursday after this coming. I don't think the Jets make the playoffs because the best they will do is split the next two games the red ho Lions and Jaguars. I think they will loose both and see up close why someone high up should have made sure the Jets did not win a game in 2020. Other team do it, damn play the practice squad if you have to. Have not had a good QB in 60+ years, Lawrence there. YOU CANNOT LET THAT TEAM WIN A GAME AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND THEY LET THEM WIN TWO ALMOST THREE. FOR WHAT PURPOSE. BELIEVE ME OTHER TEAMS GO TO THESE COACHES IN THE SAME SITUATIONS AND TELL THEM DO NOT WIN ANOTHER GAME IF IT COMES DOWN TO CUTTING THE WHOLE DAMN ROSTER LIKE I SAID IN PLAYING THE PRACTICE SQUAD THAT'S WHAT YOU DO. AFTER 60 YEARS 60 DAMN YEARS YOU HAVE AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET TO A GUARANTEE AT QUARTERBACK AND HE'S GOING TO BE PROBABLY THE BEST QUARTERBACK YOU'VE HAD SINCE NAMETH. YOU CAN'T LET THAT TEAM WIN A DAMN GAME AT THE END OF THE YEAR JUST STUPIDITY MORE STUPIDITY. You could probably say the same thing if they took Justin Fields. Everyone's going crazy about Jalen hurts right now he's the MVP he probably will win the MVP he's not the MVP. He's a good quarterback but he's a product of a ton of talent around him and a system made for him if people are excited about Jalen hurts I don't know what you can say they'll be about Justin Fields who is the same type of player just a whole lot better. And the Jets picked Zack Wilson Zach Wilson out of BYU who played Jackson state, alcorn state, army, Navy, Boise State etc how many NFL talented players on defense do you think Zach Wilson faced in college? Two maybe three? Fields played in the Big ten he faced the best of the best every week how you could even compare those two guys to each other I can't understand. All you have to do is look at them Wilson looks like a boy band member that's put into a uniform and is playing quarterback on a movie well Feilds looks like Cam Newton 2.0 and may end up being better. He's putting up good numbers and he's looking good with Chicago who has no talent at all around him put him on the Jets oh my God it's it's sickening it really is sickening that I got to watch Zack Wilson now stand on the sidelines until they decide what to do with them how they're going to get rid of them because no one's going to trade for him. They couldn't even get a 7th round pick right now for Zach Wilson. Have to sit here and watch the quarterback we could have drafted should have drafted play excellent on a team with no talent when we finally stacked the Jets with a bunch of talented players I don't know like I said before it's like groundhog Day that's another reason why I knew that Wilson wouldn't work out and it would be a disaster because it fits right into the Jets history. I hope for the best I hope Mike White is good and I think he is a good quarterback he's better than Wilson that's for sure he was better than Wilson last year but I don't know if he's good enough. If I had a guess I would say he's not going to be good enough especially with those quarterbacks in the AFC all I want to see is the Jets win a Super Bowl before I die I don't know I'm 50 years old maybe I have 30 more years but for the next 15 they're not going to win one.
Wow, I just finished watching JT O'Sullivan's (The QB School) break down from this season and everything you warned about was there. Excellent analysis. You nailed it: Zach excelled with his accuracy alone and never had to master anticipation & timing. Growing up the most athletic player on the field tends to be why guys don't make it at the pro-level: everyone is now as fast and athletic as you.
Being a Jets fan, Zach Wilson has been stressing me out because I couldn't figure out what's his problem. This video just answered all my questions. This is why so many of us are rooting for Mike White because he can do all the things Zach can't. Great Video.
As a BYU fan the thing that bothered me about Zach was his inability to get through his reads quickly. He would often get locked on the number 1 option or take too long to make a decision. I worry about him going to the Jets, but with a good coach he can be great. He has consistently improved over time.
I feel his reads are pro ready but you are an actual BYU fan so I respect that but out of all QB’s in the draft he can read the field the best imo as he’s the only one who has truly been asked to do that every game. Just look at the systems they play in, take Wilson out you will be significantly worse, take Lawrence or Fields out, they would basically be the same
You’re literally so good at predicting qbs. I’m watching these videos a year later to see how your evaluations turned out and most of them are spot on.
So much pain right now as a jets fan. As you stated and as we know, guy has all the talent in the world. The problem isn’t his arm, his mobility, but rather between the ears
IMO, it's like Michelle Wie in golf...they put her out there against the men. That was ridiculous, and it ruined her. Zach was not ready for NFL starting job...he needed seasoning, maybe two-three years etc.. Now, he may be ruined.
Watching This in December 2022 is frightening. How do you stop someone from doing something they have been doing their whole lives. It takes years and years and years.
It comes down to coaching and determination of the QB to study and practice to beat NFL defenses. Pre-reads are a must in the NFL as you get more time before snapping the ball. As you know, some offenses call 2-3 plays at one time before lining up.
Great video and spot on considering what we have seen in nfl. Here's my summary. Zach has been so gifted against the competition that he's developed a lot of bad and lazy habits, and because he is so gifted he's never been serious enough to really work on his game and eliminate his flaws (meaning he's never developed good mental habits either). As a result, he will have a hard time changing his bad mental habits and his bad physical habits...and he will go down as a huge bust
As a BYU fan I have huge admiration for Zach and I know the pro scouts and coaches see and understand this stuff better than I do. What concerns me is the level of competition that Zach made these throws against. Also his Oline was so incredible. With the Jets likely to take him at number 2 as a franchise player worry that they will use him too early too often. Allow him to learn the pro level.
"they will use him too early " -- yep. Some players need time. Steve Young started in his late 20s, not early 20s...or right out of college. NFL level is damn scary hard.
Diehard Jets fan here and he still has the same bad habits. He waits to long for the play to develop. He waits until his man is no longer open. It’s like he second guesses himself and telegraphs his passes. He has incredible arm strength but decision making and not being able to make the necessary changes at the snap that will forever destroy his career.
As a die hard Jets fan i have to say you were spot on with your assessment.. wish you was part of the brass that make decisions in the draft for us.. These same weakness exist till this day in year 2 with Zach Wilson..
damn, throughout the entire video I thought this was made in the last few weeks since zach wilson got benched. only once it is over do i come to realize you sir are a prophet. great vid
Spot on analysis his lack of anticipation has Ben zachs #1 reason and inconsistent post snap reads led to his ints he has been cleaning it up as of late...im hopeful
OMG...Jet Fan Here & watching this video after actually seeing what u said in the video unfold before watching this video was crazy to me..Your foresight was FLAWLESS💯
Im not sure there's much to update? His problems remain very similar - he lacks the read speed at the NFL and with less protection he's become panicky (jets line has actually got much better in recent weeks but point stands bec he's no longer only facing a 3% pressure rate)
@@ThinkingFootball good point. Just wanted to hear your “updated” analysis of him but you basically just regurgitated your original one you gave which is fair. Just wanted to see if you still felt the same way haha. Maybe I didn’t catch it in this video but I also didn’t know he only faced 3% pressure at BYU. Crazy.
It was a blessing that Fields dropped as much as he did. Still has to prove himself as a passer. I think it is too early to give up on Zach Wilson, I would say give it another year or two before you call him a bust.
Incredible job with the analysis. It's plays like those in the first half of the video why a good chunk of Jets' fans (myself included) were willing to give Zach a long leash to develop. Unfortunately plays like those shown in the *2nd half* of the video became the norm and drove everyone to the brink of madness. By last week's Jags game he had zero confidence and it became painful to watch. Perhaps he can still salvage some kind of career but to call him a "project" at this point is an understatement.
This guy's different. I just watched his pro day and he was making mahomes Rodgers type throws but even more accurate. I was huge on trevor Lawrence since his freshman year but zack Wilson's pro day made trevor Lawrence's look like highschool try outs
Uhhh...he is terribly undersized and could be 1 hard sack away from the ball falling 20 yards short. Ask Cam, and he is 6'5 240. You are talking about his arm being Mahomes, Allen, Stafford, Rodgers level. Let's be real, it ain't even close to that. As far as best arm talent in his class? Jones is the only one who has less arm.

This aged so well.
Same things they said about mahomes🤷🏿♂️
Definitely not elite lol
He's a elite screw up.
God dam, you were right about the checkdowns lmaoo
Now that Wilson is pretty much done with the Jets, I love that THIS GUY had the hot take that turned out to be correct!💯
And he came back crashing down to earth against New England again
@@nathanakomeah9331 and he’s been dropped
I got hope that Scarlett Johansson will live with me on my own private island.
I said it then, after watching as many BYU games as I could
I knew Lawrence was going to be a star and he's just starting to show it Sam's last fuck you to the Jets for throwing him out there with no O line to get the shit beat out of him and ruin any positive success he
Could have had was winning those two games to keep Lawrence from the Jets. Just imagine if we had this team exactly with this defense that's on its way to be a number one defense in the NFL with this wide receiving group thats very talented and when Breeze Hall comes back next year an electric tailback and not Wilson behind the line but Trevor Lawrence behind the line. Wow. If the Jets had Trevor Lawrence right now they would be headed to the playoffs, they would probably have three more wins(9 or 10 wins they would have won both patriot game
S for sure)Lawrence's stats would be much better than they are even though they're very good now and the Jets would be on their way to being a Super Bowl contender for the next 10 years.
And then threw for 77 yards including only 3 pass yards in the second half... AFTER THE BYE
This aged very well. Nice job!
Being a Jets fan, Zach Wilson has been stressing me out because I couldn't figure out what's his problem. This video just answered all my questions. This is why so many of us are rooting for Mike White because he can do all the things Zach can't. Great Video.
Absolutely NAILED It. Right on the head. Bravo.👏🏽 Should’ve sent this to the my Jets before the draft 😢
😢
This video ages better each week
As a BYU fan the thing that bothered me about Zach was his inability to get through his reads quickly. He would often get locked on the number 1 option or take too long to make a decision. I worry about him going to the Jets, but with a good coach he can be great. He has consistently improved over time.
I feel his reads are pro ready but you are an actual BYU fan so I respect that but out of all QB’s in the draft he can read the field the best imo as he’s the only one who has truly been asked to do that every game. Just look at the systems they play in, take Wilson out you will be significantly worse, take Lawrence or Fields out, they would basically be the same
I have watched all but 2 games this year outta Wilson

Too beautifully!
Wow here we are on Dec 26th 2022.

Can’t believe how well this aged.
You’re literally so good at predicting qbs. I’m watching these videos a year later to see how your evaluations turned out and most of them are spot on.
Congratulations. You're the new Raiders GM.
Watching him rollout against a 3 man rush (3:25) really makes u realize why he’s benched now
This video aged like wine! I still think Zach Wilson can make it work if he loves football and have a coach that’s willing to believe in him.
I am starting to think Woody wanted this pick because his relationship with his Zach’s Uncle
Oh how well this aged. Liked and subbed immediately.
Me, too.
This analysis was spot on, he hasn't fix those issues at the next level.
@Davis hmm
"they will use him too early " -- yep. Some players need time. Steve Young started in his late 20s, not early 20s...or right out of college. NFL level is damn scary hard.
Just watched that Jets-Jags game... this video aged like fine wine.
Diehard Jets fan here and he still has the same bad habits. He waits to long for the play to develop. He waits until his man is no longer open. It’s like he second guesses himself and telegraphs his passes. He has incredible arm strength but decision making and not being able to make the necessary changes at the snap that will forever destroy his career.
this aged beautifully
As a die hard Jets fan i have to say you were spot on with your assessment.. wish you was part of the brass that make decisions in the draft for us.. These same weakness exist till this day in year 2 with Zach Wilson..
Wish you'd done a 'Why I Wouldn't Trade for Russell Wilson' and forwarded it to the Broncos...

This aged pretty well. Good job man.
damn, throughout the entire video I thought this was made in the last few weeks since zach wilson got benched. only once it is over do i come to realize you sir are a prophet.
I can't imagine why this could possibly be recommended to me now, I simply can't.
Have you considered doing an update on Zach rn? Watching this video is like a prophecy of what’s happening rn lol. It’s crazy.
Crazy.

I thought this was posted this week or something then I checked the date 😳. Good scouting
Some predictions age like warm milk... this one however is more like fine wine.
Oh my goodness. This guy is psychic.
And now looking back at Zach playing horrible against jaguars this shit is spot on and accurate. I think you should be an nfl scout!
I swear this is like all top qbs in college and comes with experience, like the arm talent is like on another to anyone else in the class.
This guy's different. I just watched his pro day and he was making mahomes Rodgers type throws but even more accurate. I was huge on trevor Lawrence since his freshman year but zack Wilson's pro day made trevor Lawrence's look like highschool try outs

You are talking about his arm being Mahomes, Allen, Stafford, Rodgers level. Let's be real, it ain't even close to that. As far as best arm talent in his class?
