I Had bladder removed 10 years ago (cancer). The cancer returned last year,in september,. I was told that it was very agressive and chemotherapy was necessary,to shink the cancer
so that it could be able to be operated on. Was advised that it would need 6, possibly 8, cycles of chemotherapy. After 1 cycle it had shrunk by half.Ater 2nd cycle it was almost gone. I stopped chemo there and had kidney and lymph nodes removed. During chemo I fasted 24 hrs before treatment and 20 hours after; drank plenty of water only. I am told I am completely cancer free. Thanks to you and other doctors on utube who advocate fasting. Ifeel I have escaped the bone yard and maybe years of chemo sickness. Good luck everybody.

There are a few substances cancer can thrive on: glucose, ketone bodies (not every cancer) and glutamine (all cancers). Even if you deprive yourself of all foods, glutamine is always there (we all have muscles) because your immune cells cannot survive without it either. Fasting is miraculous in that it facilitates autophagy which is a fantastic tool to clear the field of all the damaged DNA and tissue and allow the immune system to work more efficiently. There is a French cancer survivor active on YT (Guy Tenenbaum) who at the time of his prostate cancer diagnosis already had some bone metastases to his ribs. He is pretty well off so he traveled to the US and spoke to best specialists he could find but they all agreed that even chemo was not an option in his case any more and that he had max 3 months to live. He started water fast and kept going for approx. 41 days and then slowly reintroduced foods but adapted OMAD lifestyle. It's been years and he's cancer free. Fasting is powerful indeed.

Everything happens to & from a cellular level. We all have good & bad cells. When we fast , our body searches for some nutrients & when they can’t find food , they good cells start eating the bad cells, weak cells & defected cells.
I am a 40 yr old male going into a 40 hr water fast. I was diagnosed at a young age that I have hypopituitarism. I take Prednisone & Levothyroxin daily. I’m praying that someday I can be medication free. I seen a video on RUclips , it was talking about fasting and in the comments section I seen a man put he has the same cancer/disease I have that he Intermittent fasted for 2 weeks. He went to his doctor and they told him “ you don’t need to take anymore medication.”!! 😮. I was shocked I seen that. 😳

Hospitals, doctors offices and schools should be places where good nutrition is taught and provided not places that contribute to disease and obesity. It is crazy the hospitals are feeding people the very food that caused the heart disease, high blood pressure or cancer that they are treating. Every person in the hospital should receive some nutrition education before being released. Every doctor visit should be an opportunity to educate patients about how food choices impacts their health outcomes. The fact that doctors do not get nutrition training as part of their training makes no sense. Medicare and Medicaid should require nutrition education as part of patient care. Focus should be on food choices. Fasting should be investigated as a treatment for disease.

I was feeling extreme fatigue and weight gain at the end of 2015. I switched to a Whole Foods Plant Based Diet in 2016 after watching videos from Dr. Greger. I was Whole Food Plant Based for about 98% of my calories until the beginning of 2021. I started to eat more vegan junk food and miss key foods like selenium, garlic, and iodine. I felt extreme fatigue in 2022. I went to an Endocrinologist in 2023 and they found a tumor, which was later declared a grade 4 through a biopsy in June 2023. During this time I started to eat more vegan junk, especially during chemo. In February 2024, they found more tumors in my brain. After that, I switch back to a completely WFPB diet, which specifically targets cancer growth such as leeks, Garlic, broccoli, and kale. My energy has returned dramatically. I walked 7 miles easily the yesterday. The energy I feel is similar to the energy I felt when I first went Whole Food Plant Based vegan. I have been eating significantly less during this recent change back to a stricter WFPB diet, because my appetite has decreased dramatically. This worries me, but it could be a beneficial effect as Dr. Greger is saying.

It's amazing how many benefits fasting has! Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered. Fribrosis/scarring is reversed over time and telomeres are lengthened, which also helps with lung fibrosis. The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy! Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release! Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system.
    Fasting increases nitric oxide.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system.
Losing weight through intermittent fasting shows greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast, though if the amount is tiny you will go back into ketosis very quickly. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many medications are dangerous to take while fasting so you may have to talk to your dr. about discontinuing them during a fast.
Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS.
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, your body always runs mainly on fat except for brief periods of very intense exercise. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose.
Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging.
Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and under 18 g of carb.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice.

Skipping a meal is not fasting, it is time restricted eating should not be called intermittent fasting. to get the benefits you want you would need to go at least 36 hours, depleting all glycogen and entering fasted ketosis where the autophagy starts ramping up. Best is a 3-5 day fast every quarter.

    • @MrGreatpersian
      @MrGreatpersian Год назад +1

Once beyond 12 hours for sugars and 14 hours for protein, our body efficiently search for these, hence detoxing and starving cancer so eager for extra sugar iron and protein to synthesise.

I heard nothing but good things about fasting and healing cancers. I believe that pharmaceuticals can’t make money off of it and it’s pretty sad because it’s peoples lives. I am currently doing treatment for leukemia and the stuff that they feed you in a hospital is junk and they don’t talk about eating healthy or do they talk about fasting? And everything there feeding everything that they feed you has sugar and Lots of carbs. There’s not many options to accommodate so it’s very helpful to do meal preps but if you’re stuck in the hospital they don’t have accommodations where they can store food or help you in that sense. Anyways, it would be nice to know if you’re only supposed to eat one meal a day or what the hours are to spread out or you’re not supposed to eat I’m very, very curious

      Hi Kimberly,
I agree with our shared hospital experience.
I've been if-ing since college and I fasted throughout my 24 chemo treatments for congenital leukemia.
Research and a good GP are integral to get deeper into fasting.
I go 3 days a week again, and I feel well.
So much so that I have gone as long as 3 weeks.
One meal a day is OMAD the acronym. To enter into a state of autophagy takes the body several hours, we're all different, just like DNA for instance.
Your window of feeding is longer at first, ie- 16 to 8 is a easy, and common start.
Your dietary knowledge is much better than average, and I gave 93 times at the Canadian Red Cross heck for having factory cookies and Coke, and I refused the OJ too, water and an apple were fine for myself.
I've been if-ing since college and through my 24 rounds of chemo for congenital leukemia.
I'm assuming you are finished with the chemo now.
I hope you did as well as I, kimmie, work to shrink the eating window as small as you feel comfortable.
I'm eating in a 2-3 hour period unless I'm out socializing.
Dr. Mindy Pelz is an expert, l did a course
because that's Mindy's forte, I'm embarrassed that I wasn't totally taught as an Aquatic and Yoga therapist, that Women absolutely have to work around their 28 Day cycle because if-ing only allows for 2 of the 3 hormones whilst in a state of autophagy.
I forgot the precise ratios, so I unfortunately can't help you in this panel.
I cand direct you to Mindy, she's on this platform and has a newest book titled...
      FAST LIKE A GIRL.
Awesome double ontondra sp., I'd send you my PDF link that summarizes the aforementioned book.
Listen to her episodes on RUclips, and I also recommend a Podcast called...
INTERMITTENT FASTING STORIES for a wide spectrum of Doctors and fasters on Any Podcast App., Dr Jason Fung of U of Toronto is the World expert on fasting to cure type 2 diabetes, he's working on type 1, Jason is also on the RUclips platform.
Also, the latest advice seems to favor a variable daily window, and a Long Fast once or twice a year.
I'm comfy with 3-4 days a week, even as I train slowly for recertification of my Life Guard license.
You can absolutely do this, caveat being that you don't have an underlying condition. Although m not much can preclude fasting.
I Love the sounds of water gurgling noisily through my G I track as it reboots the entire body including the mind.
      Good luck Kimmie ❤

He's not saying fasting is a cure, he's saying it helps. Doesn't mean every cancer patient will survive if they fast

Because the chemo (poison) destroys them along with some of the cancer cells. Fasting during chemo purportedly protects regular cells and makes cancer cells more vulnerable.

eating less, or cannot eat, is completely different from fasting. Fasting means a duration of absolutely no food; whereas, patients who cannot eat will eat a little whenever they can. They are completely different and please do not comingle the two. Fasting will allow your body to generate ketone. When a patient cannot eat, he still eats a little bit that will turn into glucose to feed the cancer. Cancer cells cannot digest ketone and can only digest glucose. Fasting will starve the cancer cell but eating very little cannot. I have been doing IM for 3 years and this is the part that many people are confused so I do not blame you.
