- The foreman reads the verdict of a trying case in which the accused claimed self defense after stabbing an unarmed man seven times. District Attorney Helen Gamble―who was attacked by the defendant in open court―has an interesting reaction.
I do not own the rights to this video.
I loved this scene. And I loved LFB as Helen Gamble. I miss The Practice. Best legal drama of all time IMO.
After Boston Legal, which was it's follow up! :P
@@johnnyd1790 No, Boston Legal was horrible! The Practice was amazing, with many twists.
@@BillGraper ehhhh
The Practice was full of one dimensional characters.
@@BillGraper Boston legal was a brilliant piece of television.. in case you forgotten they were created by the same man
Helen Gamble, the woman you loved to hate, yet sometimes you really did love. Funny how she remained friends with the people who were defending the ones she was trying to put away.
In the end, at least in that world, they’re all lawyers. Yes, they wage war in the courtroom, but they’re also the only ones that understand each other.
@@Agent_1701-D Plus, I think Bobby even dated her a bit before he dated Lindsey.
She did severely help Bobby on getting Lindsay out of prison for killing Lawrence O'Malley in self defense.
She was usually on the "right" side.
I hated all of them except the little Jew guy that got shot
He was the only one with actual convictions he was always right morally and everyone hated him for it
One reason she got mad at the jury was earlier in the episode the defendant had attacked Gamble and tried strangle her but the bailfes had subdo him.
Crowley worked his deals as usual.
That is what I thought. You stole my joke. As soon as I saw this scene= I said that is Crowley from Supernatural. He must have used his demon powers to be found Not Guilty. I forget the name of the actor who plays Crowley and this scene. Most Actors from the U.K, Austarilia, etc are really good at learning to fake an American Accent. For some reason, this actor can't or doesn't need to do that.
@@HoldenNY22 He's Mark Sheppard. Pretty good actor imo.
At least we know Helen was one of the good lawyers with a soul.
@@CheerfullyCynical829 I know, it's just awful the way the protagonists defended the civil liberties of the accused. Terrible the way they required the state to make its burden of proof. Shameful that gross 4th amendment and 6th amendment violations should result in acquittals. How can those defense attnys live with themselves?
@@CheerfullyCynical829
Uh huh; the "got murderers and rapists acquitted"; what do you think defense attorneys should do? Try to get them convicted? I don't think that's in their job description. That's what Gamble's supposed to do, and then she throws a tantrum and blames everyone else when she messes up.
It was a different show because in all the other shows good guys always won. This was diferente than the other shows, that is why people liked it.
No she wasn't. She was just as crappy as the defense lawyers. She's prosecuted people she knew who were innocent.
You people are so ignorant of the real world.
Was Helen Gamble so much better?
There were at least two storylines in which Helen prosecuted people who she believed were innocent.
In one episode, she prosecuted a man for murder despite the fact that somebody else had allegedly confessed to the crime.
The judge (Paul Dooley) was Molly Ringwald’s father in “Sixteen Candles”.
When she says "retards" I lose it! hahaha
Helen gamble was a great character.
This was after Bobby gave the GOAT closing. Legendary shit
epic, superb episode agree w/you here
Not better than the Alan shore vs cigarette in Boston legal
@@horyalpr or the schadenfraude closing
@@horyalpr oh, nobody is better than Alan
Bittersweet watching these clips now... Lara was such a fantastic actress.
"Maybe next time." Brilliant!
AGREEEE😂👏🏿
Dylan McDermott's character of Bobby Donald was my favorite on this show. When they decided to turn him into a philanderer during the show's final season I was so pissed off.
.series the to benefit no had It
He had a pretty solid relationship with Lindsay toward the end.
@@averythecoolcat That still doesn't change the fact that the writers screwed over his character. To me it was completely unnecessary to bring in some random woman that Bobby falls for in a moment of weakness and ends up having an affair with.
@@xyPERSON they had to do something different bcz the show was ending and Alan was the perfect man to revive it
@@xyPERSON TRUTH!!! AGREED!
Lara Flynn Boyle is hot.

Masterful actress, too, impeccable.
Marla Sokoloff was hotter!!!
Nobody defended murders better than Bobby and Eugene!
😂😂 this was from the best episode in the whole series because Bobby had one hell of a good closing!
I mean that was the show. Bobbie and crew saddled with awful client with no chance of a NG, Helen puts on a great case, loses, somehow still has a Job lmao. That was the only unrealistic thing, she lost like 95% of all her cases
@@chriscrowninshield4623 lol true
And in most of the cases she won, the defendant was innocent. It still creeps me out, the episode where the guy is convicted of decapitating his mistress - and the camera moves from the guy’s broken expression to his wife smiling behind him 😮
@@TheWchurchill4pm if I remember correctly that was the first big case they lost. It was the Winslow case.
@@chriscrowninshield4623 Only against this one firm. Prosecutors in this country have 99% conviction rates, which in its own right is also total horseshit.
Only found so because we find out years later that was actually Crowley. The King of Hell.
I don’t no how they considered each other friends? When all they did was argue back stab each other & insult each other🤔
If he said that to the jury he would most likely have to say that to himself for failing to prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
They don’t make shows like this anymore 😢
Where are you David E. Kelley?
I know! Picket Fences was another good show of his.
Tbf he tried with that show Robin Williams was in before he passed (RIP) but that show....was kinda.....yikes.
Dylan McDermott's Bobby.. the Don Draper of Law and waay before my main man Harvey Spectre. I would love to see them to go at it!
Alan shore would wipe the floor with all of them
Don't remember watching this. But I have never seen Helen lose it like this!
She was attacked by the defendant mid trial. There is a lot of context
The problem is that while I agree with some of the sentiment.. the simple reality is that reasonable doubt is why a lot of innocent people are not in prison. A series like this shows us what others don't in real life.. which allows for judgements we really shouldn't make.
That kind of temper tantrum should get her disbarred, honestly. It's unworthy of her position, and someone with the emotional maturity of a pre-teenager does not belong in such a position over power. You lost, lady. Get over yourself.
@@Mark-xh8md she was fed up because she had to watch so many obviously guilty people go free. This guy was an absurd criminal scumbag and it was disgraceful he got away with murder.
@@annchovy6 - He might have been, but that's not an excuse for a supposéd professional to act like a tween girl being told she can't go to a late party at a school night. A lot of people have legitimate cases for defamation suits against her after this temper tantrum. And she should've been disbarred
@@Mark-xh8md it’s a tv show. There are a ton of things that happened on this show that were completely inappropriate from judges, defense attorneys, and DA’s. It’s an entertaining scene highlighting the complete absurdity of the system after she’d seen murderer after murderer get away with it. Getting bent out of shape about how she should have been disbarred is just kind of weird.
@@annchovy6 - I'm sure. I haven't watched the entire show. I don't need to, to make a statement on the tantrum thrown here.
It's always hysterical watching lawyers flip out in this series.

I see Garak’s father the judge from deep space 9, and Crowley from supernatural😊
Still a brilliant scene 👏👏😀🇭🇲👏👏👏
If that outburst was her closing she would have won, lol.
Either the Jury was that stupid or if one or more of them were bought off then it would not have made any difference! Helen was mugged in open court by the man the jury found not guilty!
0:32 How the majority of white America (and some skeptical Black Americans) reacted when O.J. got off. 😂😂😂
Guess so, I know this is a TV show but based on the Wicks facial expression, is it possible he knew before the verdict that he would get off? Did he pay off or influence the jury in some other way?
Whenever I see the actor playing the judge here, I always associate him with playing Cheryl's father on Curb - and the beloved aunt scene 🤣💀
Lara flynn boyle is a great actress. I absolutely fucking despised Helen Gamble. She was a hotshot attorney that would put people away for life that didnt deserve it. She would overcharge defendants as a way to feed her own ego and would stoop to bending ethical guidelines to win. The character was a piece of shit with a law degree. I always loved watching her lose even though the defendant was guilty as sin.
She does give off that vibe.
I bet that jury panel was saying to themselves, "We didn't sacrifice hours of our lives for this! The nerve of this woman!"
And they'd be right. That woman should never work as a lawyer again. At best, she should work as a greeter at Walmart
@@Mark-xh8md stupid jury and she told them so
@@Mark-xh8md A District Attorney isn't a customer service position you can call a manager to tattle on, you silly "Karen." Maybe you should watch the episode before you open your mouth. The defendant climbed over the defense table, choked her, and gave her a concussion. You are the one that belongs at Walmart.
@@yobogoya4367 - Actually no, you silly "Karen". If she cannot control herself in a courtroom and treat the court with the dignity due it, then my original statement stands. And you would be singing an entirely different tune if you weren't conditioned to like the character. This is not a way for anyone to behave in a court of law, least of all someone of her position. If she can't maintain the decorum the position demands, then Walmart-greeter is what she should be instead.
@Mark "My comment stands because I said so." Ok Karen.
:( I was sad when Richard bay died
summerlandmisfit Yeah. I don't like him but I don't want him to die.
Richard Bay is my favorite character on that show. I love all his outbursts and indignant speeches. 😂 I was so bummed when they killed him off. ☹️

I always wanted to see Bobby get to debrief LFB and Kelli Wiiliams together.
Mmmmm... yes!
She looks so much better before plastic surgery
Completely agree.
Most people do.
She had a plastic surgery? I need to google this
I thought she got hotter in the later seasons.

I'm guessing he....sold his soul to get that verdict.

Probably the same people that drive 30 mph slower for the first time is snows for the season, then try to drive 70 in it a week later...
The best scene is Helen gamble at Judge Flemmings award. ;)
I really think LFB was the best actress of the main female cast. Although they were all GREAT, watch enough episodes and you'll eventually catch the others in a false note or notice some tic or other. Not so with LFB, her performances were always impeccable.
Why is the music so serious? This is funny!
She should have saved this for when James O'Malley was acquitted.
She seemed upset!🤣
A gross understatement. At that point, she was that the living end and had seen enough.
As well as grossly incompetent for the job she had.
The thing is, if I heard a defence attorney have an outburst like this, I'd be much more willing to forgive. A jury saying "we have doubts, we have to give a verdict of not guilty" is laudable and should be encouraged whereas a jury saying "we came here assuming they're guilty, haven't listened to any of the evidence and will blindly side with a lazy and incompetent crime and punishment system that threw the case at us" is evil and should be deserving of prison time
All I can remember about helen is people calling her a lollipop head in the 90’s.
Yes. Calista Flockhart got that nickname in the 90’s, too. Both of them looked like scarey skeletons in certain episodes of their respective David E Kelley series.
Lmao poor Lindsay... They drove her crazy
And then Crowley All innocent like turns to Bobby and is like what did you do
Helen Gamble was great, its a pity Bobby didnt marry her instead of Lindsay, the borest character ever in my opinion.
By the way, that was the F... Crowley??!
Yes it was. So you know he's guilty.
I agree. Bobby should have married Helen. The two of them made a much better couple. They were exciting and they looked darned good together!!!!
You're crazy. She was the best actress and the hottest. The wind would blow Laura away she's so frail
To me it was Berluti that was the most boring Lindsay is a close second

That judge is a jerk
She described the jury accurately. I never agreed with having common people serving as members of the jury.
Sounds pretty elitist. You ever think that she failed to do HER job. No it's gotta be on the jury right?
@@slade52 there could be some fault with her. But a jury is rarely qualified.
So, you want a government to be the judge, jury and executioner then?
The fact that you can't see the purpose of why the jury is independent from the state shows how unqualified you are to make this call.
@@Xalgucennia which makes them an ideal candidate for jury duty. lol.
We are entitled to a jury of our PEERS, not some elitist group like the SCOTUS, which votes against the Constitution far too many times to keep track of.

Another fact is. Juries don't ask for jury duty.
Maybe she should have been better at her job. Ever think of that?

This scene explains the problem with juries.
Maybe she should have been better at her job.
@@slade52 if only we had mind readers. It would eliminate the need for trials. Just read the suspects mind to find out whose guilty. Then let the judge sentence them.
There's an episode I've been looking for. It's when the jury refuses to render a verdict. Anyone know the one I mean?
Season 6, Inter Arma Silent Leges. The defendant in that trial was either innocent or the best liar known to man. :D
Can they do that
She's not wrong.
I'm glad we don't have juries here. I'd rather have the verdict decided by a judge, you know, someone, whose profession it is to actually find the right verdict.
Depends on the judge. As an American, trust me on that one.
Judges can and do get it wrong more than people want to admit. A robe does not make one just or wise.
sure let one person's whims decide. Your justice system sucks.
@@MaxwellsDemon9 The purpose of a jury trial is to provide a check on the power of the government, Juries don't have to worry about their careers being ruined if they make a judgement that others don't like.

She was right absolutely right
That doesn't matter in a court of law when there must be enough proof to convince a jury that a defendant is guilty.
