I think that flip of a switch mindset happened due to General Dave having a mental disorder, most likely a small version of PTSD that doesn't affect him in major ways except for the government he went for the Commonwealth, he probably originally was going for democracy, but due to his mental disorder and hunger for power he switched to a dictatorship with democratic ideals, (funnily enough that was the United States before the bombs dropped, the more you know).

Hey Dave, this is my first comment but damn. The immersion is on point l and I could visualize this being a real thing in the game. Keep it up please :)
Finally! I waited so hard for this tour and so far it does not disappoint. If General Dave is sending manuals down there for the workers to read so they know how to create the goodies for the minutemen, this isn't simply a labor camp. It is part of General Daves educational system! The prisoners shouldn't whine, they should be proud about the opportunity to learn and expand their horizon!
General Daves grip of power seem to get stronger and stronger. I wouldn’t be surprised seeing General Dave going onto a full on ear on the rest of the brotherhood. I’m picturing a Hearts of iron 4- Old World Blues mod with the General Dave minutemen as a power to be trifled with.

Hey Sam, It's Otto from Logistics at Bedford. Is it possible that someone managed to salvage some old printers and computers from Hubris in Boston and found a collection of Watchmen to sell? Might be that the prisoners are using them as currency in the place of caps.

So I built them a nice, secure laboratory *koff*prison where they can *koff*must work on the higher order of things needed in the Commonwealth. This would actually make a good film ala games like A Way Out and others: it starts off with the main protagonist being a prisoner who is currently being transported to the Thicket Excavations prison. We see the horrific things they have to endure, the inhumane conditions they're in, and the fear in their eyes because they know where they're going. However, we also see how they view the post apocalyptic landscape as something strangely beautiful, and how they know why they're going to the prison: the protagonist was a thief who got caught stealing weapons from the Sanctuary Hills armory days prior. The thing is that they didn't actually want to commit the crime as they were threatened by Raiders to do so or else their child would be killed. Of course, to the ruthless guards of Sanctuary Hills, a criminal is a criminal no matter the situation. As such, the protagonist was arrested and shipped off to Thicket Excavations. The intro ends with the protagonist seeing the gates of the Thicket Excavations prison and their eyes going wide in terror.
Dude this is still one of the coolest builds I've ever seen. Seriously awesome. Honestly I wish someone made a fallout mini series on it, I always thought it would be cool to have some prisoners plan to break out of the prison. you know like in guardians of the galaxy.

I can just imagine all the crazy action that could happen in this world. I'm sure that would take years more of work and all these "new game" level mods like that always end up cancelled. You're a man after my own heart I have a similar love of building detailed back-storied settlements. My character is kind of similar but she is an escaped synth, the institute was going to make her think she was the player character and tried but something glitched out and she was aware of the false memories taken from Nora, let them think it worked until she could escape. They had also programmed her to want to unify the commonwealth under her rule(so they could control her and it) she still wants to do that it is at her core to rebuild the world but the institute will never be her master, she will have no master. I'm working on my first mayor city and temporary capital at an expanded Jamaica plain settlement, I aspire to really take my time with this settlement and make it a labor of love like your builds are. your builds inspire me! love it.

the general should head over to Saugus Ironworks, repurpose the old factory for his machinery and trucks
