I believe the song is all about all the reasons one would change into that direction (of addiction, downward spiral), and all the reasons one would want to change away from that direction. That whole spectrum is meaningfully important. From never having drugs, i think the high of drugs is similar to detaching meaning from oneself or becoming accustom to losing it - and when the high wares off you want meaning back, but the type of meaning/worth that comes from the self, intrinsic values, other people, connection, goals, motivation, everything that isn't from drugs.

im hi and i just analyzed almost every frame of the vid n i gotta say, i fuken love it, the cool moving and quickly switching camera work really goes well with the song and some of these shots man like a lot of the pool frames where stephen is playing, awesome, the chorus part is also amazing. the instruments in the music video actually lining up with what is being played. aside from the actual work i really appriciate the whole aesthetic of like how it seems to be the post party time where everyone starts to feel shiddy and feels the down part of the drunk. just sitting there reflecting. some are tired, sad, lonely, depressed. even through all the sound that is being played in the backround theyre still only hearing their thoughts. but yea great music vid.
