Met him several times in Jackson Miss. he was a nice respectful everytime. Once had lunch at hotel in Jackson saw him he sat next table over. we had a nice conversation. Jerry was a great artist, missed his home spun stories.
Jerry's grandson,Jayree was a good friend of mine growing up. I've eaten lunch at his house in Liberty Ms several times,he was a strong, funny, kind man,the type of man we need more of in today's world. RIP Mr. Jerry
Grandfather knew Jerry Clower. He was a Baptist preacher for many years in SW Miss. Liberty, McComb, Gloster. He loved Jerry Clower. I grew up hearing Mercy Mercy Uncle Versey. Never knew who Uncle Versey was. Lol
Jerry Clower was a WWII NAVY Veteran. Was a radio operator and was in a good many Pacific engagements. Got to see 2 times and he would stay after his shows and take pictures and sign autographs till everyone got one . He talk with everyone too . A Great story teller and Good Man ...
Yazoo City, MS native here. My dad built custom cabinets in his house on Easy Street. Mr. Clower was a nice, humble man who lived up to his Christian faith.
My uncle who grew up on the Louisiana-Mississippi line on the Louisiana side opposite of Vicksburg, Miss. My uncle looked so much like Jerry and he talked like him and told his jokes. They had family friends in common. My uncle passed away three years ago and as he was a second father to me I miss him dearly so when I really start missing him I watch Jerry and it makes it a bit better.
Back in my driving days over into the S.E. I used to hear Jerry on a radio station. One day I found a display of his cassettes at a TA in Georgia… after that I kept my eye open for new ones to play in my Semi 👍❤️
Clean, family fun. Now you can’t watch network tv for all the foul language and other “unfittin” things. Jerry Clower, Red Skelton, Tim Conway and such had a talent that went far deeper than most today.
I ran sound for him, on two different occasions, many years ago, in a small, local venue. He was just the same off stage, as he was on it. I was impressed with how nice and friendly he was, to the "help".
Always puts a smile on my face. My dad bought every Jerry clower lp he could find when I was a kid. We’d sit and listen for hours to his stories.. a true southern legend ..
I had the pleasure to see Jerry perform at an arts and crafts festival in Georgia in the summer of 1992. I will never forget sitting in the grass in a field in front of the stage.
Saw Jerry at a farm show in Goldsboro NC in the early ‘80s. Came out in a baby blue tuxedo and by the time he finished had the whole place rolling on the floor.
I watched Mr. Jerry Clower do a show at the 1984 County Fair in Hohenwald, Tennessee. He was wearin' one of his fancy leisure suits and cowboy boots. He never said the first cuss word had the crowd in stitches the whole time he was on stage. It was one of the best comedy shows I'd ever seen in my life. That was 50 years ago and I can still picture him on the stage a cuttin' up and carryin' on. There'll NEVER be another Jerry Clower. ❤
This famous comedian came to our little county fair every year. After the show he would hang around for hours and talk to everyone and would usually go to dinner afterwards with some guests. My grandmother and I met him so many times that I thought he was part of the family. RIP old friend!!!
My Uncle Buck Brown played football with Jerry. Had a photo in his house of them side by side in their uniforms. Jerry Clower was one of a kind. Loved his comedy as a kid and still funny at 60yo.
He does need to be in a Hall of Fame. The man was awesome. Great Jesus Christ man. But yes he needs to being a hall of fame. Thank you for saying that. Whoever did
I wish, oh how I wish I still had his record albums . . . (Lost them in the divorce, of course.) His short recitation to young people at graduation is Absolutely Priceless.
I played a gig with The Smokey Paul (Hank WIlliams' guitar player) Band on the FL panhandle with Jerry. We did a set, Jerry did one, we did one, he did another etc. The last joke he told in his first set was "Knock Him Out, John" and it took me 3 songs to get my act together and play my piano. RIP Jerry, you throwed a cravin' on me.
I would listen to WWL out Naw Awlins Charlie Douglas and the Over the Road Gang Show when I hauled horses to the race tracks . Charlie would play Jerry Clower frequently.
Yes it is! Clean comedy of the past from a Christian man like Jerry Clower was very entertaining and amusing to a very large group of people of all ages. But what we bunch of hillbillies don’t find funny is “meditation music”!!!
I was gettin ready to take daddy to see Jerry in Raleigh, N.C. But Mr. Jerry passed away 2 weeks before that. I woulda loved to see him in person. Now I miss him and daddy. RIP to 2 good men.
I ran into Jerry waiting for an elevator at the Marriot Hotel in Nashville, he was quit rude because it was slow. He wore a star of David with a cross in it. I thought about asking him why he wore it ...
There will never be another Jerry Clower he is a true legend.
he knows how to milk a weak joke, southern funny i guess
@@ronkistner2672if you don't get it, you don't get it..
Don’t get no better than Jerry. RIP 1998.
One of the greatest one of the only comedians we were allowed to listen to when I was a kid no bad language just good ol country humor
He once said he never did a show on Saturday night that he couldn't do in church on Sunday morning. GREAT southern story teller...
Needs to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame
He’s not? How????!!!!

He is a member of the country music Hall of Fame he was inducted in 1998

I got to see him in Paragould, Arkansas not many years before he passed. I've seen several comedy acts live over the years. He was one of the best! 😊

Paragould still have a State CMV inspection station?
It's probably one of Arkansas' most profitable offices.
Jerry's grandson,Jayree was a good friend of mine growing up. I've eaten lunch at his house in Liberty Ms several times,he was a strong, funny, kind man,the type of man we need more of in today's world. RIP Mr. Jerry

When I was a kid I was a big fan of Hee Haw . Jerry was on from time to time. Loved watching him. Great comedian
I love me some Jerry Clower! Funniest man I ever heard...😂
Yazoo City, MS native here. My dad built custom cabinets in his house on Easy Street. Mr. Clower was a nice, humble man who lived up to his Christian faith.
Jerry was the greatest comedian to ever do it and the whole family could listen to him.
My uncle who grew up on the Louisiana-Mississippi line on the Louisiana side opposite of Vicksburg, Miss. My uncle looked so much like Jerry and he talked like him and told his jokes. God bless you, like my mother told me "son you'll never get over me dying , you just will learn how to live with it "

My momma played fiddle once at a barn down south and this man was there making people laugh it was one of my happy memories
Preached a great sermon at my church. Had the congregation laughing and crying.
Oh my word!
My parents had an album of this guy way back in the early 80’s! I played that thing every evening until I practically wore it out!
We need comedians like Jerry now. Ain't nothing like good clean comedy.
Whooooo!! Haaawwww!! Loved this guy.
My late grandma was a year ahead of him in high school. Said they were all nice people.
Legend
I remember listening to Jerry as a little girl. My parents didn't mind, he didn't curse or talk about things a little girl shouldn't hear.
Now everything’s so filthy, you can’t even watch any of them. Sad. I miss the older times.
Wonderful!
I remember setting in my buddys truck listening to Jerry on the stereo system laughing til we cried instead of a fishing 🎣 😅 R I P Mr. CLOWER.

It’s amazing what southerners find funny.

To be honest, I really don’t know. Even though he should be
Very funny

Of course Jerry didn't know it but I listen to him so much as a kid I felt just like we was kin. He sure was a fine feller
Hah! Good judgement call
