I was in a reltionship with drug addict. It was so stresful... I was always ready to leave but then couldn't.. he didn't think it was a big problem and he didn't take drugs every day but he also didn't want to seek for help because that was not a problem and I was too serious... I loved him and I was afraid he will be worse without me but one day I just knew it was a time to go. He tried to take me back few times but I just't couldn't come back to that hell. I still care for him and hope he will see he has a problem but my mental health is more important to me. Be strong!
Loving someone isn't enough when it comes to decisions that THEY need ot make on their own. They will get healthier when they are ready. If they have no interest in it, moving on is all you can do. There can still be love there, as a friend. But you deserve the best. Proud of you for sticking up for yourself!
Thank you so much for being brave enough to post this, even after the backlash from the ex family. You’re bringing so much hope, awareness and understanding. The world needs more people like you, and you are very much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so sweet, and I am so happy for you.. My ex husband was an alcoholic, he was having seizures, and pretty much similar behavior you mentioned about your ex. Yes, you were spot on with him. Enjoy your life sweetheart!!!!!
Love your courage speaking about this! And good for you for sticking up for yourself and finding your inner strength. Broke up with a guy I'd dated for a few months, largely because I suspected him of having a drinking problem or at least emotional instability. He drank every time I saw him -- at meals, throughout our dates. Often, when I left to go home at night, he'd have another drink (he told me he drank to help him sleep, despite the fact that alcohol actually causes sleep issues). The few times I mentioned my dislike of him drinking, he would quietly get put off. Lucky, we lived in separate places and met only 1-2 times a week. I think a part of me remained cautious since I refused to stay overnight most of those dates -- I must've sensed something wasn't quite right. He was very kind and thoughtful at first, but was very quiet so hard to read. As we grew more comfortable with each other, he started showing red flags like mood swings, irritability, and sudden, irrational bouts of anger over little things. During the break-up when I mentioned as kindly as possible that I didn't think we were compatible long-term, I witnessed that bad temper again. That rage really put me on edge, and I took the opportunity to leave before that fury could explode. No point in sticking around. Afterward, I felt sooo relieved, like I'd dodged a bullet! I was so happy to be free. I can't imagine what it would've been like to live with such a person, dealing with constant stress, mess, mood swings, and having to walk eggshells around them. No thanks!
Thank you for sharing. I'm worried I wouldn't know what a healthy relationship looked even if it hit me on the head. Most of my life has been chaotic and being a caretaker has been ingrained in me since I was a child. I have taken care of patients, boyfriends, friends and family. I'm trying to figure out coping mechanisms with the trauma. However, I made my mind up 2023 is all about me! Whoever said the best way to get over someone is to date someone else is 100% an idiot. That's the worse advice ever! It took me three strikes (three relationships of toxicity. My first husband was an alcoholic) to figure that out. I'm ten years older than you. At least you figured it out while you're young. Hopefully, it will come to me one day. Hope is what keeps humanity alive. There are worse things than being alone. On another positive note, I am happy you found someone that fits the special person you are. I wish you well. Stay quirky, stay happy, and most importantly stay being you. ✌️
Thank you SO much for this. I am struggling because I left my alcoholic ex and he also lied to his family. I was close to his sister , whom now hates me because she believes whatever he told her (he definitely denied everything) If only she knew the truth. It is so upsetting. Makes me so angry.
I remember being very frustrated in the moment, but looking back the past is in the past and what people choose to believe is their prerogative - wash your hands of negativity and things that are not in your control not your problem is my only advice 💖
Thank you for being brave and sharing your story with us, you gave me hope. I thought I could never leave but I did it, almost 5 years of broken promises and lies were enough.
Thank you for sharing and it is certainly an informative story to have this update from the last post. It will help so many people who are currently in these situations and very encouraging for them to know and to be able to see the positive progress! Great video Dani!
I’m so sorry that his parents and ex said all of that!!! I’m lucky that my ex’s family has always been so supportive of me and leaving my ex, even though the enable him. Thanks so much for sharing your story. There are lots of people like us out there and we need people to relate to who have gone through the same things.
Thanks a lot for sharing your story, I'm so glad that you are happy now and in an amazing/healthy relationship, we all deserve that, thanks for opening our eyes!
the reason i watched your video was to free myself from a alcoholic girlfriend. As you know it leads to nowhere. your a cool intelligent chick . please continue with your channel. the bit of your video is what she does daily. i sailed away as hard as it was .
Ooof, had to comment on this video too lol because yeah I feel like my current boyfriend would do the same, all his friends would hate me if I said my version of the story and how he manipulated me, gaslighted me, and he did it to his friends too but there is always two sides to the story that's why I am doing what I can to protect myself in the future. Oh and don't worry too much about his gf because she will probably see it in time how he really is.
Yes they are very ashamed and tend to shift the blame to excuse their behavior. It SUCKS! You're better off sweetie, find a man that will support you and lift you up. Throw him away, you deserve the BEST! :) Best of luck!
damn those texts were harsh in a couple months his girlfriend will realize that you were telling the truth and leave him because of how difficult it is to cope with a partner having addiction
Why do women do this? They’re always believing the new boyfriend, and running down the ex girlfriend. Grant it, a few cases are legit, but for the majority of men, it should be a huge red flag when he’s running down his ex. Don’t be a “pick me”, ladies, he’s not the prize.
My boyfriend took me on a drive to hell. I was crying and praying the whole way home that we made it safe. I thought we were gonna crash all while he kept saying I was a POS.
My girlfriend is an alcoholic it’s been beating me up for months all she focuses on is my issues but her drinking is a lifelong problem and is never the focus
after 4 and a half years of crisis after crisis every 3 months or so i finally chose for me ... I feel so guilty for not trying harder but i am dying inside ... his 1st wife went for weekly counseling for 5 years (their 2 kids does`nt care if they see him or not )and his current ex and 7 y old girl is in dire straights he does not see or contact them or support them .. he only in the past kept messaging his ex girlfriend when drunk or sorry for himself ) .. I have to step back from all of that and live my life now ... I am worried and concerned and nervous of the outcome as he does not have a current job or place to stay .. and actually took a light tranquilizer to just get me through this final day of letting go as he must still collect his belongings at the gate... this was my life playing the waiting game ... the funny thing is that my prosperity tap keeps closing every time he comes back ... I can see and feel he is suffering but I also realise that there will always be another victim after me falling for his charisma his kindness his loving touch and the magic of who he really is ... I do love him but I cannot live with him..
Great job for opening your eyes and seeing what he is leeching off of you. You can 100% care for him and wish the best for him, but it is NOT your JOB to take care of him. He is a grown ass man making his own decisions, move on girl!!

I just played your videos to my alcoholic husband. The partner’s point of view. I don’t think they realize how deeply it affects us.
Sorry this is 2 years late, I hope things have turned around for you! and i'm so happy my story could help in any small way. much love 💖💖💖
