It's nice to see this underrated gem finally getting some of the recognition it deserves. Too many people said ghost did it better, but I liked Ronin much more. Now Shadows will be compared to ghost as well and like Ronin will be looked at as a cheap imitation. Guess gamers forgot that without AC, ghost probably wouldn't exist, and without tenchu, AC wouldn't exist. To me Ronin is probably the closest to modern day tenchu we'll ever get. All these games that are similar should exist so we're not all playing the same one, glad you enjoyed it.
Rise of the Ronin definitely deserves more attention. I was wondering why I haven’t found it sooner. Ghost had a great story and it had gorgeous graphics. But I think I enjoyed Ronin much more as well Did the main story, bond missions, side missions, and liberated the outposts. There needs to be more games like Ronin.
@@globalcherry Ronin wasn't marketed very well and got mid reviews, and was swept under the rug and put in the Ghost did it better bin. Nobody really covered it either.
Ah. So it wasn’t covered very well in terms of marketing. Makes sense. I never heard of it until I was browsing for samurai like games. But I’m glad I found it. This is definitely one of my favorite games going forward.
We can also control allies in combat? 4:54 ! I am sorry What? I just learn about that game. Plus it is really funny and weird that a Japanese game Rise of The Ronin gives us also the option to play as a black ronin "samurai". Meanwhile, the anticipated and requested AAAA AC set in feudal Japan cannot give us and does not have the option to let us play as a Japanese man assassin/ninja or samurai. Okay, the custom characters are Blank slate protagonists. But I guess players add something to their personality with better personal immersion “self-insert”. Fixed main characters are usually “better written” and more "compelling", sure. But my favorite protagonists are actually 2 custom character with fascinating and "charming" personality: V (Valerie) from Cyberpunk 2077 and the protagonist/the Boss in Saints Row. Again we can create a black character in Rise of The Ronin. But the expected AAAA AC set in Feudal Japan will not give us the option to play as a Japanese samurai or male ninja. Just thinking about it is wild…
Yes we can control our allies in Rise of Ronin and bond with them. I like some of their combat skills so I use the same allies in battle when the opportunity arises. As for customization, I personally like how Rise of the Ronin has custom characters with a voice. I want my character to feel like me haha. Ah Valerie. I like her character too. I also like the deputy from far cry 5 even if they don’t have a voice. Yeah it is wild. We get to be a female shinobi in AC. But I thought they would do a male Japanese samurai/shinobi. Kind of like the male/female duo we got in Odyssey.
@@globalcherry It's so cool to play with your allies, and I also like to choose my own character, face, voice and hair. I'll definitely get this game. But I don't know if I'll have time to finish it before the big games come out in February. Maybe I'll wait until March. Moreover, your videos are really good, they are top notch, the way you timestamps and edit the footage. And the bonus, your voice is so soothing. In fact, Ubisoft could have done exactly like Rise of Ronin. I apologize for taking up your time in advance, if you don't mind reading. I wish Naoe was the only protagonist or we just had a Japanese samurai ninja/assassin. That way all the budget and time could have been spent on one great character. Of course, a duo like Odyssey would have been easier to program and would have worked better for Shadows, like with either Naoe or Fujibayashi Yasumasa. The real son of Fujibayashi Nagato-no-Kami (藤林 長門守). Naoe is the fictional daughter. Yasumasa actually doesn't have much writing, almost nothing, because he was a true ninja like his father. Unfortunately I think Ubisoft just erased the existence of the real son, it's weird though, because there's no mention of him but there is a mention of Naoe searching for her mother. (Personally, if that wasn't the case, I would have preferred him to be payable alongside his sister Naoe rather than….) Ubisoft could have even portrayed Yasumasa as a ninja-turned-samurai who infiltrates Oda Nobunaga’s ranks as a spy in the story, driven by a secret mission for revenge. This could lead to a tense, layered relationship with Nobunaga, mix of hate, respect, and high-stakes tension. Yasumasa could still be positioned as the "tank" character, with normal parkour akin to Kassandra and Eivor, and + using social stealth techniques to navigate samurai nobility court or what not. In contrast to Naoe's environmental stealth and advanced parkour. And Yasumasa’s aesthetic could still have the grandeur of samurai warlord armors, kabuto, weapons but also have and combine the iconic robes and hoods that define the aesthetic of Assassin's Creed, since he is also a ninja. Together, the siblings could allow players to explore two distinct approaches to missions that reflect the Sengoku Jidai, one emphasizing direct confrontation and espionage, the other relying on subtlety and guile, reflecting also in the gameplay the “social gender”of the feudal time. Plus The Eagle Vision mechanic of previous titles returns could have return in the form of "Hawk Sight"(a favorite theme, a symbol of kings of Japanese warlords during the era of civil wars). The male player's companion animal could have been a sparrow-hawk who can be used to scout the nearby areas, much like previous avian companions had done in Assassin's Creed RPGs. Contrast with Naoe's Eagle Vision. I know this is probably not the right video to share these thoughts, but I felt like it. This is the only mention of Yasumasa on the Internet. “After the suppression of the Iga province by Nobunaga, some of them escaped from the province and sought refuge with the Tokugawa clan. One of the most prominent members was Fujibayashi Yasumasa from the Fujibayashi clan." "Nagato subsequent accomplishments are not known, but by the time of the Tensho Iga Rebellion, his son Yasumasa was in power, and after the defeat he left his hometown to seek refuge with the Tokugawa clan. His grandson returned to Yufune, and in the early modern period he served the Todo clan, which ruled over the entire Iga province. His descendant Yasutake also wrote the Bansenshükai, a valuable resource that continues to tell the story of ninjas to this day” その後の事績は伝わらない が、天正伊賀の乱のころには子の保正の代になっており、敗戦によって故郷を離れて徳川氏を頼った。孫の代に なって湯舟に帰遠し、近世には伊賀国を領した藤堂氏津藩に仕えた[。また子孫の保試は今に忍者の姿を伝える貴な資料と呼ばれる『万川集海」を著している
Hey everyone. Happy 2025. I hope you all have a great year ahead. As Assassin's Creed Shadows is coming next month, I was browsing through a select number of games and this one caught my eye.
