A small tip for those who don't know what to do when the mounting state happens. You can counter the small barrel bombs with strongarm stance, you will get more damage rather then mounting the monster and running it into the walls
Why not fight another monster, topple it, fight the original target (doing free damage), topple it AND THEN do the usual bomb-strong arm thing? Worst case you just slam the original monster into some walls and then do the bomb once it is on the ground.
For those interested, the first set can swap out for Fine Kamura and Flaming Espinas arms for Violet Mizu arms for a more entry level set IMO. Can max out stun res, speed sharpening and defiance. Also burst still doesn’t apply to blast status weapons, so don’t use it with blast period, regardless of weapon
Any additional Armor Piece mentions like this are always welcome !👍🏽 You might have missed something in the Video though. Cause there is a note saying that you can exchange the Flaming Espinas for Violet Mizu Arms.😄 Yup, Burst is not a "great" choice when it comes to Blast weapons. However, it does still apply to the Raw Damage part of all Blast weapons. It just doesnt apply to the actual Blast status itself, wich makes it a "subpar" choice on most non-element weapons. Burst is a bad pick for GS in general unless you're using elemental Surge Slash playstyle. Wich is why there is no Build in the Video using Burst except for the Surge Slash one.
The Surge Slash Build is awesome! More people should play Surge Slash, its super unique and quite strong. As always very good video and marvelous Builds!
That's so true man! Surge Slash is still realy underrated! Alot of players stay away from it because it feels so different to play. But once you mess around with it for a bit, it becomes realy fun to play and can keep up with the charge playstyle aswell.
Actually Surge Slash brought me into Greatsword and I absolutely love it. It made Greatsword my main weapon with about 90% of my hunts completed with it. It's fun, versatile and wracks havoc upon monsters
I use build1, but with Sinister Grudge Tassets. This gives me Mail of Hellfire, which is a bit more consistent. Also using High Sieglinde+ as my weapon. Poison is easy to apply and is a bit more powerful. Gonna try your survival set soon, seems pretty nice without losing to much power. Might even try Diablos GS with it.
That's a nice choice ! I have a Mail of Hellfire Build planned for a Build of the Week Episode aswell. Sadly the Diablos GS is still pretty bad to build around right now..(unless you have a crazy Talisman ofc ^^) But if we're lucky upcoming new Decos might change that 👍🏽

any ideas for a fun surge slash combo poisen/blast build ? I like the surge slash combo playstyle way more but I dont like to make a elemental weapon for everything
I like the idea of using Surge Slash with Blast or Poison aswell, but sadly it falls behind using it with Element. I might do some testing though since the new buffs to Surge Slash combo might make this a bit more viable now. (Testing will require quite some time though due to all the changes we got with TU5)
@Yokai Nox ya right now I am just rocking a normal pure dps build with some explosive skills in there and my hunting times are around 8 minutes for high investigations, don't even wanna know how fast it would be with elemental. Thanks for all the builds and the work you put into them
Right now Gunlance is in kind of a weird spot.. The last 2 updates didnt realy give us alot of new options interms of plausible Build variaty that actually changed much (Aside from a few very specific Build ideas i have). Either way, i'm realy looking forawrd to working on GL ^^ My guess right now is that i will make 4-6 Builds for it depending on my testing results.
@@YokaiNox in tu3 they'll be making shelling level available to upgrade via qurious crafting, so you should make an update vid then when that comes out
The Scrolls will only do any difference if you have Skills or Silkbind Moves in your Build that have Scroll specific buffs. For example "Mail of Hellfire" will give a buff to Raw Attack on the Red Scroll & a buff to Element on the Blue Scroll.
It's just how it adds up 😄You can see everything i'm using on screen. Critcal Eye: Talisman (3) + Luna Helm (2) + Expert Decos (2) = Max Crit Eye (7) ATK Boost: F.Espinas Chest (2) + ATK Decos (5) = Max ATK Boost (7)
@@YokaiNox I have a talisman with 3 levels of attack boost, so I should just be able to what you did but it’s swapped. I put in all the decos you have on screen and I’m still 2 levels short on critical eye.
@@EthanM498 Yup, should add up the exact same. If it doesnt you definitely have a mistake in there somewhere. Does your Talisman have a slot ? Also make sure nothing is over shooting the Max of Lv 7.
@@YokaiNox So my greatsword has guardian jewel 3 and expert jewel in it, helm has critical and expert jewel in it, chest piece has 2 critical jewels in it, braces has expert jewel, attack jewel, and steadfast jewel, waist has expert jewel, attack jewel, and steadfast jewel, the legs have expert jewel, and my talisman has 3 levels of attack boost. I put in all the decos you said to put in and I only have lvl 5 critical eye but I do have lvl 7 attack boost. I’m not sure what’s going wrong here
@@YokaiNox and I also only have weakness exploit level 2. I can sacrifice another expert jewel to get level 3 but then I’ll only be at critical eye level 4
You're definitely doing something wrong then. There's also a note in the Video as a reminder that you have to use Strongarm right before getting hit to trigger the Offensive Guard effect. If you're timing is off, it wont activate.
Of course there is 😄 If you cant see it at the smithy it just means you havent unlocked it yet. All the new Decos are unlocked by fighting the addet afflicted monsters, so you liekely missed something. To craft it requires: - Anomaly Jewel x 5 - Daora Hardclaw x 3 - Afflicted Dire Claw x 6
It depends on the Build & your personal playstyle. For Charged Slash Builds: 1 - Tackle 2 - True Charged Slash / Rage Slash on 2nd Scroll 3 - Charged Slash Combo 4 - Strongarm Stance / Adamant CS on 2nd Scroll 5 - Power Sheathe For Surge Slash Builds: 3 - Surge Slash Rest is all the same and up to your personal preference.
