Once you've gotten a few favourites under your belt and really feel like you 'know' starwars aesthetic, how about making your own custom ship? As kind of a channel mascot.
I am so behind this idea. I would love to see your take on a star wars style ship. Either a small cargo ship, or a big capital fleet, heck, I'd love to see a fleet!
EC Henry has made a couple neat custom TIEs TIE Vector: ruclips.net/video/t3hzTd0KZx0/видео.html First Order TIE Bomber: ruclips.net/video/EJTYgbbNaiY/видео.html
Hey Eckshart, you should get together with EC Henry and make a battle short that features all the custom models he made in a non-canon free-for-all brawl, just for the heck of it.
I tried playing the game on an emulator recently and mannnnnnn I forgot how unforgiving the game could be. Especially with the wonky aim controls. I wish someone would do a full remake of the game with a proper control set up
This was one of my favorite freighters. Love your take on it! Request: As a table top Star Wars player I enjoy using Tokens. Basically PNG top down views of ships and characters. Any chance you could do a collection of png screen caps of these ships from the top down. They would be a great DM resource. You have a habit of making some truly fantastic models. Keep up the great work on the channel!
MAGNIFICENT!!! I love the redesign! All your changes make sense. Now, as far as other ship ideas... Ebon Hawk, Ebon Hawk, Ebon Hawk!!!!! It is a great ship that never really got screen time or the respect it deserves. I would love to see a redesign of Ebon Hawk. Make it bigger and more detailed.
Those captain’s quarters windows are a fantastic idea! In general, this model is filled with neat little things and the greeble is excused perfectly to give off that Star Wars feel. Looking forward to more of your fantastic work!
Very nice and sleek in its frame. I too had a gush of fanboy/nerd energy seeing the ship in "Rebels" - it would be fun to see a smooth, factory finished version, a la "The Millenium Falcon" in "Solo" - which made me fall in love with the ship all over again.
Much though you maligned it, I think the cockpit details were my favorite piece. It not only *looks* right, the way you did it also feel perfect for the IRL side of creating Star Wars props
I dig it. My own personal preference: I’ve always wanted the hollow/empty ‘hole’ between the cockpit and body to be shorter/smaller so that the circular body is complete.
Very nice! Always loved the Outrider. While I would never sacrifice the dorsal turret capacity for an antenna myself, I must grudgingly admit that it does indeed make a lot of visual sense, and you did a great job on the design overall :)
Oh man, I imagine that the opening added to the front is part of a coupling system which allows the ship to become a bridge for a large asteroid freighter. The bottom gun turret was likely a port that allowed crew to transfer down into the asteroid freighter to perform internal repairs and control the various equipment. As for the actual airlock opposite the cockpit, I imagine that to have a very small shuttle for performing EVA repairs, maintenance, and retrieving or destroying parts of the asteroid broken off during flight. Perhaps that small shuttle had a turret on it, and it was this turret that was retrofitted onto the main body of the craft as it was converted into what we see in canon. Perhaps this old model's design intended for asteroid retrieval is the explanation as to why the Millennium Falcon is so good at traversing asteroid fields, and in the end why it was able to fly through the Death Star and survive that explosion. I am imagining the asteroid retrieval freighter that this ship couples to would look like something of a large hand which can bend and fold and grasp large bodies in space.Perhaps something akin to the capital ship space docks from the Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager series.
A nice design on the whole aside from one glearing flaw you've left 50% of the ship completely defenceless. Now I can see that from a symmetry view point that having the dish in the center makes sense but now hear me out here having guns on both sides of the ship and reducing the chances of getting blowd up makes more sense. Nice work keep it up.
Really fantastic work. You put a lot of thought into you design and I easily would have thought this model came right from Lucas film. Great job, I'm in awe! Awestruck in the literal sense of the word
The YT 2400 is one of my favourite fictional space ships. I owned one in Star Wars Galaxies. It wasn't the best spaceship out there, but I loved it all the same. It also cemented my love for asymmetry in spaceship design.
Firstly, I'm a big fan of your work and this build in particular looks great! I think she could use a bit more firepower but I kinda hate how someone needed to run way back to man the turrets- so I suggest adding a second ball turret to the rear of the cockpit! It'll fit perfectly and provide a wide swath of coverage. It'll also be just seconds for a copilot to run back to the turret. I like the captain's quarters being next to the bridge- but you could knock out the wall between those quarters and the cockpit to make the design more open. Maybe add a communications station there with a dual bunk for the pilots. I feel like smugglers would want all their critical systems close at hand.
Never commented on one of your vids before, just wanted to letcha kno how cool I think the stuff you do is. I'm actually a mite envious, as I, as prolly every longtime star wars fan does, am constantly thinking of various neat additions to my headcanon, but lack the skills to actually make them into a reality. None near as cool as yours, just saying it's rare to come across someone with both the keen imagination and the technical know-how to do this type of thing, and I look forward to continuing seeing your stuff develop in the future. Damn, I hope that came across alrite, the choice of wording mighta screwed me up a bit. Oh ps Shadows of the Empire was my shit back in the day, 1st 64 game I ever had, along with starfox, so there's a special place in my heart for the Outrider
The new republic had more advanced x-wings (T-65ac4 model I think) that could compete with a-wing in speed, and the Frietek E-wing, which was as fast as an a-wing and as maneuverable as a TIE Interceptor.
This is cool, nice job. I like how you put a sensor dish on your Outrider. Along with a secondary sensor package in the left mandible, The Falcon uses it's left-side mounted dish to help fill that blind spot for the pilot, I believe. So now this Outrider has the same setup :)
It is cool to see that this ships gets some love to this day, i love seeing it in this high detail, although i much prefer the 3D model from the Shadows of the Empire game, seeing someone taking this ship to mod it and make it looks this cool is always welcome to me. Great work there man.
I didn't play the game referenced, but I did play Star Wars Galaxies. I had a YT-2400 as my mobile base/pvp platform. Since my character was from the southern swampy region of Naboo, called Lianorm, the ship was the Jewel of Lianorm. The interior was essentially a blank slate, and you could use the housing decoration tools and commands to dress it up. I had one section of the cargo hold set up with resource containers, stacked. The second section was set up as living quarters. And, I had weapons placed all around the ship, because you never know where you'll be if you get boarded.
That dish isn't for receiving, but broadcasting the tunes. DJ "EC" spinning the latest and greatest tunes from the outer rim. Get ready Inner Core... 'Bassdrop intensifies'
Very cool to see a classic legends ship get a breath of life through the insane amount of detail you put into it. Always thought the outrider was a much cozier ship then the Falcon, and those added hull windows just add to that.
Incredible design, my guy. There’s this book called the ‘YT-1300 Millennium Falcon Owner’s Workshop Manual” published by Haynes or something like that. You’re comment about how the stock YT-1300 would look with the dish in the middle reminded me of the book. It shows all the different types of stock YT-1300, goes really indepth with both Han’s and Lando’s versions of the Falcon, and shows all the different YT-series ships. You should really check it out, and it would be useful if you ever wanted to create a render of some sort of YT-series ship.
Using pictures of audio equipment for consoles is actually an awesome tip. It works quite well if you want something that looks substantial without putting too much effort and detail into it.
The recess at the front makes the design more functional as that could be a cargo attachment point, hidden torpedo tubes, or hold door like on various illustrations of the Falcon. This would be the only YT-2400 variant I would want to have over a standard YT-1300.
I grew up with Ebon Hawk from the original KotOR. I have such a fond memories back then like you've had good times with YT2400 in SotE. Love this kind of 3D rendering. Cheer!
One thing that might be cool, it seems there's no engine at the back of the cockpit tube area, so perhaps have a small corridor that connects the cockpit down to a small escape pod maybe?
I know it wasnt represented in the SotE game, but in the novel the Outrider hull was painted black chrome. Maybe an experimental retexture is in order? Fantastic model. Love me some Outrider 😎
Man, i really really like your channel! I immediately subscribed. I noticed that you sometimes lower your voice to the point where it sounds sort of unnaturally squeezed/forced out. I wonder if others noticed it too. Anyway, your natural voice sounds very nice, no need to force it low. Keep up the good work!!!
I absolutely love this! Like you I grew up on Shadows and the Outrider is my jam! It was actually the first ship I bought for the X-wing miniature game (outside of the starter). You've done an excellent service to the ship.
I love the video, but I just wanted to say the reason the dish is offset on the falcon is because when hauling cargo, the pilot had a blind spot on the opposite side of the ship and so they put a dish there to help the pilots fly better
If I recall right, the Outrider had a Custom mode change, and a turret on the opposite side of the cockpit, it had a function to drop the cockpit down on a bar, so it looks, more akin to a B wing... and it was basically a "SURPRISE BATTLE MODE BITCHES!" It had like 4 turrets, the dish was one, like a mini death star ray. it had one on the bottom move over a bit, as the centeral bar moved, the cockpit was then ether on the top or bottom with a turret above the dish. I might be thinking of a different ship entirely though. But I think Dash Randar(His name?) did ALOT of modifying to that ship.
now we need one on your millennium falcon, do note, we expect it to keep certain aspect's that makes it so good, but changed just enough to be different
I know this is an older video, but I always assumed the ramp under the main hull was for cargo. As a freighter, you won't be getting a lot of cargo in the personnel ramp near the cockpit (I do love it being there though)
Oh I love Shadows of the Empires and I love the YT2400. Loved how modifiable the YT-series is. Anyone can have one and each will be different to the next. Though I think the cockpit looks great. Sure if you focus on finding things to nitpick about, you'll find them. But if you just look at the lights in the cockpit as control instruments, it works really nice.
I remember walking that ship when I was a kid. I hope you model the interior someday. It'd be fun to see. Other then That, I think you did a fantastic job!
Great Job! I just wish the antenna and the turret were swapped. With that cockpit's windows, the pilot can see way more than he can fire at. If it is occupied by a gunner, the pilot and gunner need to be on the same sight line. Your crew would be in space and have no above ship defensive capabilities. Moving the antenna to the bottom would also keep communications from being knocked out so easily.
I'd adore seeing your take on the HWK-290 light freighter, better known as the now-Legends "Moldy Crow," the personal ship of mercenary Kyle Katarn. The ship itself has actually been made canon in the "Kanan" comic series!
Wow that is a really cool looking ship model you made there now I would like to see somebody make the same one in Lego Style using one of the playscale Millennium falcons as a base for it👍👍😍
Really good take on the design. But I would probably add some more firepower, like some heavy dual laser canons in the front, like on the ghost to compensate the lack of upward turret...or maybe some proper escape pods or cargo holder. Of course as its a smuggler ship, many modifications may be thought of... By the way, I wish Lego would release a set for the outrider, even if its not as iconic as the millenium falcon, I like slightly more its design...
Again love ur additions I like that the dish changes the front profile. I had a similar idea on a yt 1300 with a either a triangular intake or an arch shaped intake instead of the gun turret in that placement . And in the original dish placement off to the side a gun turret or rectangular box style missile launcher.. also thought of a tank style single fixed cannon in that position. The falcon is my favorite ship. I enjoy designing different variants . Would love to calaborate with u on ideas. I dont know how to 3d model. But I can sculpt clay and draw my designs.
I remember looking at the ship and wondering how people got from the cockpit to the main hull, because the design didn't work as it was shown in the reference books. Didn't notice the changes in rebels till you pointed it out. And you did a wonderful job with the ship yourself.
You should have included the cockpit could detach from the entire ship as a sorta safety pod or for high commercial trades swapping carriers with a new pod crew.
I always liked the YT-2400. For me it would be a mobile Mandalorian Armor and provide custom ship mods. Faster hyperdrives, increased shields, weapons mods and the like. Mine would have covered the space between the two struts to conceal the access ramp, and inside it hidden a long turbo laser cannon. I love the YT series and would love to see more variations in cannon, even some YT-1300 that are not the Millennium Falcon.
That pronunciation ("tan-te-vee") was apparently used in the radio drama in 1981, and has had a something of a revival in recent years. I've also always said it as "tan-tiv" though, and this point I'm sticking with it.
Great vid ... Love the design ... Very sleek. Have been looking at the yt-2400 as a base for either a bounty hunter or merc ship with some heavy modifications. Would love to see a cross of this ship with either a single or double stacked hull with the fury class interceptor with double quad cannon turrets on top and bottom ... Sort in the way you have the turrets on here. Have the cockpit more in the center of the ship, like on uss defiant, instead of on the side but definitely not the corellian ones. ..hate them ... Maybe more of a lamda shuttle look.
I love the YT-2400 so much, I can't say how vastly excited I am, that you made a video about this Ship. The YT-1300 and YT-2400 are my most favorite ships after the "NCC-1707" and I love your videos. If I had a Job, (which I don't have, because of Highschool), I would love to support you on Patreon, but eventually in a few Months ^^.
I'm sorry that you didn't like the canonical version. I really like the concept art you posted at 0:30. Thats how I've always envisioned the YT 2400. Good work though on your own redesign!!
@ECHenry Just needed to clear up some misconceptions you seem to have about the YT-1300. Per the official vehicles and vessels manuals put out before Disney acquired the franchise, the stock ship DID come with basic armament in the very locations you see them on the Falcon. What Han did was double the number of cannons per turret. The "radar dish" is totally non-stock equipment, as it was military-grade comms jamming gear.
I remember spending a lot of time inside that ship as a child pretending and letting my imagination run wild. I'd give anything for good a spaceship building/role play game.
It would be really cool if you do some more ships from the games. Specifically, I'd love to see designs from Galactic Battlegrounds be given this treatment. Especially since some of the in game designs are... .well... kinda silly. Some things stick out in strange places, (especially with the naval units) so it'd be nice to see them with a more realistic design like what you did here.
I REALLY like this design, a lot!!! I don't like a lot of the "official" interpretations of the Outrider with the elevated center, but the Rebels and this one by extension are perfect, I must say I like the cannons on top as well, and the dish could be to the side, but still looks cool! it would be great if this were an STL available *wink wink* keep up the great work!
Shadows of the Empire was the first N64 game I owned. Along with Mario 64. that was the best Christmas *ever*. Super spoiled. I was in love with the Outrider right off the bat. The Falcon is cool, but in a certain way this became "my" ship. I *was* Dash Rendar. I made the choices. Love your interpretations.
Once you've gotten a few favourites under your belt and really feel like you 'know' starwars aesthetic, how about making your own custom ship? As kind of a channel mascot.

Yes it`s a good idea
I mean, he made the collest looking star trek ship.
The Falcata or the Pacific?
One of my favorite video games of all time. Triggered by the Gall spaceport level just seeing it. That shit was so hard as a kid.
I wish someone would do a full remake of the game with a proper control set up
The detail on the cockpit is brilliant. It works even at close range. I had zero clue what it was. Awesome job.
a perfect 100 likes, I don't wanna spoil this
This was one of my favorite freighters.
Nice idea :)
That's a real thing of beauty! I love Star Wars ships and their deck plans. To see it 3D modeled and even a little of the interior done. . . Mmmmm

Could you imagine if they Re- made Shadows of the Empire it would be interesting if they used your concept of the Outrider
The Outrider is the best! I'm also glad your channel is back up. You are one of my favorites.
I love the YT-2400 more than any other Correllian freighter and this particular 3D model is just beautiful!!!
Really fantastic work. You put a lot of thought into you design and I easily would have thought this model came right from Lucas film. Great job, I'm in awe! Awestruck in the literal sense of the word
Glad you are back again. Outrider was a great ship is SotE.

Beautiful model, very corellian, unbelievable. The interior looks fantastic too.
Please do what you’d think the New Republic’s main starfighter would/should look like, about 10 or 15 years after Return of the Jedi.
And great job with the Outrider! Looks absolutely stunning! Ever thought of becoming a vfx artist?
Rising Horizon Gaming I meant a non x-wing model, a completely new design that mixes the similar aesthetics of the Resistance and Rebellion
The E-Wing fits that role.
A canonized version of the E-Wing would be neat.
The new republic had more advanced x-wings (T-65ac4 model I think) that could compete with a-wing in speed, and the Frietek E-wing, which was as fast as an a-wing and as maneuverable as a TIE Interceptor.

This is fucking art. well done. Disney needs to hire you and Angelos if they ever decide to bring the ship into the films.
I love these genuine and exploratory kind of videos!
Definitely a Like for the mere mentioning of SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE!
If I remember correctly, the stock layout of this ship can be seen in one of the Edge of the Empire RPG books.
I grew up with Ebon Hawk from the original KotOR. I have such a fond memories back then like you've had good times with YT2400 in SotE. Love this kind of 3D rendering. Cheer!

as for turret/dish placement, well, easy customization IS a major selling point for CEC products...

I love the video, but I just wanted to say the reason the dish is offset on the falcon is because when hauling cargo, the pilot had a blind spot on the opposite side of the ship and so they put a dish there to help the pilots fly better

I would love to see an overhaul/design of the interior design of your ships.

I know this is an older video, but I always assumed the ramp under the main hull was for cargo. As a freighter, you won't be getting a lot of cargo in the personnel ramp near the cockpit (I do love it being there though)

This model is so godly genius, I can't believe it!!!
I remember looking at the ship and wondering how people got from the cockpit to the main hull, because the design didn't work as it was shown in the reference books. Didn't notice the changes in rebels till you pointed it out. And you did a wonderful job with the ship yourself.
Great job!
04:00 Pretty sure the stock YT-1300 there was no dish at all. Pretty sure that was an upgrade. At least in Legends.
You should have included the cockpit could detach from the entire ship as a sorta safety pod or for high commercial trades swapping carriers with a new pod crew.
Outrider is still one of my favorite starwars ships, always a treat to see someone's take on it. = D
I would've kept the dorsal turret. But aside from that perfect work. Awesome!
love it!
you're right, the ramp is perfect when you put it"!
Being truthful. This is my favorite Star Wars corellian starship design.
That is so cool! You are very talented.
3:30 Tantiv -eev? Is that how people pronounce it?
Tantive four maybe?
That pronunciation ("tan-te-vee") was apparently used in the radio drama in 1981, and has had a something of a revival in recent years.
I've also always said it as "tan-tiv" though, and this point I'm sticking with it.
Lucas pronounced it Tan - tive in an interview.
I've always said "Tan-tiv Four" - but only just now realized _I've never heard it said aloud._
idk why but I just love the way you said "well now we have.. BOth... soooo.."
Add some kind of small crane above the door, for dropping cargo on spots where you cannot land. For a ship of this style its a logical addition.
This is just so cool. Keep doing this awesome stuff!
I'm sorry that you didn't like the canonical version. I really like the concept art you posted at 0:30. Thats how I've always envisioned the YT 2400. Good work though on your own redesign!!
yeahhhh the unreal thing should happen. i'd love to see the interior
Dude this is incredible i love this so much what the heck amazing job
I had the plastic Power of the Force version of this ship. I wish Lego would do a set for this ship.
the Outrider is my favorite SW ship of all time!!
Makes sense that a cargo ship would have a personal ramp and a dedicated cargo ramp.
First, welcome back. Second, the Outrider was cool. Didn't care for the rotating cockpit, though.
The YT-1300 (millennium falcon) came with the dish on the side and a gun on top but Han added a gun on the bottom.
I remember spending a lot of time inside that ship as a child pretending and letting my imagination run wild. I'd give anything for good a spaceship building/role play game.
very nice , looks like it was fun to build.
Your work is awesome! I love it!
I always wanted to make a 3d model of a yt 1930 with the back pods hanger bays for escorts, jedi starfighters or something.
You have the eye of the Eu back story to something history
