You make ships for STO?! That's amazing! Really interesting going over the design phases. The general shape from the ship it's based on, using patterns and curves for depth and contrast to the finer greebles of detail to go along with in-game abilities. Amazing work. As a STO player, I've been wanting a updated saber escort for ages as it's one of my favorites. Now I've finally got one and the fact that you designed it is all the cooler to me. While looking at the model in game, I noticed what appears to be a landing pad for a runabout on the upper hull (you can see it at 3:46). Is that what it's for or is it the entry for the whole shuttle bay?
Wait, you’re designing ships for STO? That’s awesome! Now I want to know what other ships you’ve done and if I have any of them. Also, you should tell them to let you make more videos like this. I love getting to hear about your creative process.

When I first looked at the design I thought that it would make sense by the 25th century for Starfleet to take in elements from other species to enhance their new ships. Good work! It's definitely different than your standard 24th century designs with the bulkier, yet more organic shapes, but I think it can definitely integrate into the next century of Trek lore.

IMO the creatives behind the visuals and such should get more spotlight than they typically do when it comes to gaming. Also, are those launch bays I spy near the nose? I immediately got lucer-hulk vibes with the curves and the forward launch bays in the gap when I noticed that tiny detail near the end.
I’d love to see this guys takes on some of the Star Citizen ships. They haven’t gotten anything as big as the STO ships in terms of scale, but they have full interiors and multi crew stations

I love your care and respect for the ships and lore of the settings. I immediately latched onto that Mchla refit design you did and loved it for my newer raider type char in STO with the Klingon recruit event. It held the funky shape of the original, but actually looked and felt like a klingon design.
This is a well-earned flex, good sir. You're producing some truly beautiful ship designs, the likes of which Modern Aplha Canon Trek is struggling to keep up with. It's clear to me how much passion and dedication you put into your work through this masterpiece of a ship and all the others you're credited for, and like the namesake, is true artistic genius on display. It all goes hand-in-hand into making it all fit seamlessly into the 25c. Trek Universe we've come to love with STO, and to know that you're part of that makes it even more enjoyable for me. Keep up the excellent work. You've put a lot of smiles on many Trekkies faces today 😊👍

EC, First, glad to see a new video from you after so long. Second, the DaVinci is GORGEOUS. It has a cool stingray look, which is appropriate for its function. Like a stingray, the DaVinci can hide unnoticed until it launches a stunning attack. Brilliant work.
Fascinating history from someone from Earth of the past. Your work from the early 21st century is certainly remarkable work. Digital works from the early 21st century are very important to our design work as part of this youtube channels response to you. The streamlined shape and feel as almost all the designs from the ships in the Klingon Empire.
Okay, EC Henry, I think you did an amazing job on that ship, and wouldn't mind seeing more of the ships you made and you talk about your design prosses for them.
Well done sir, don't play much STO these days but I always did like the ship designs. If Cryptic allows it, I would like to hear more about the process for some of the other designs that you worked on.
As a player who lives in escort class, i love the De vinci you designed. The fact it levels with you is awesome. Though likely will be replaced with the Akira class once i get to it
An excellent design. I have to say that I like most of STOs ship designs. They really manage to get a unique and coherent look to their ships and yet make them fit perfectly in with Star Trek. Not the easiest thing to do. And with great designs like this, I, for one, hope to see a lot more designs from you in the game.
Now that looks cool! I've always liked the Saber class. They are basically bigger and beefier Defiant escorts. The organic design is literally a step beyond what the Defiant originally had and it has a more aggressive look. I can see a bit of what you mean on the Cardassian and Dominion influence. I suppose to add in your backstory you could say innovative Cardasssian and Dominion engineers were invited by Starfleet to try their hand in re-designing any ship they chose as an olive branch. The engineers from both nations selected the Saber-class out of admiration and respect because of the battle perfomance of these tough and tiny little ships that once fought the best of the Cardassian and Dominion warships. Overall, excellent work, EC!
Your ships design for Star Wars and Star Trek are incredible, they are just spot on. Honestly, one of these 2 companies (ILM or CBS) needs to hire you. I'm so glad you work on STO ships design, lucky for us players ♥

Very cool video! I love watching the videos on ship design and lore from the games. The Saber is one of just favorite ships. The only question I have is why the shuttle bays are up front. I could only imagine this makes it easier to recover small craft quickly in a scope type fashion. Again, thanks for the video. Can’t wait for more!
Finally a good design again in STO. Edit: I purchased this ship as soon as it came out and as soon as it was mastered, got the Fleet Saber escort as well. I love this ship and love your obvious passion for both Star Trek and Star Wars. Please keep making beautiful and accurate lore/ships for these two IPs.

Congratulations, I hope this is a dream come true for you. Also, if you ever get a chance, please, please pass on my undying adoration of the Khitomer-class and Ranger-class ships to their designers as well - love those so much I had GamePrint make models of them for me so I could show them off. :D If you keep working with Cryptic, I really hope they'll let you make more behind-the-scenes videos like this, and maybe you can encourage the same for the other designers.

That is a really good looking ship. A lot of ships from their future line don't out-do the past version but I honestly like this more than the Sabre, and I really liked that ship. The elevated main hull with the trenches between each 'wing' surface really do it for me.
I pray that one day you're given the green light to finally give us some new Orion vessels. Sure, I may not be playing STO much these days, but I love your designs!
Holy shit you designed the da Vinci? I bought it the second it went live! Such a good ship, honestly one of the best designs STO has come out with in a while too.
This is one of my favourite Starfleet designs ever. I rank it right up there with the Akira class for its beauty and simultaneous imposing nature. I'd also love to see more vertically oriented or asymmetric designs, like a vertical saucer with a pair of (or single) engineering hulls attached to the focus of the circle that makes up the saucer. Or perhaps a normally oriented saucer that flows into a laterally attached engineering hull.
I might have to get back into STO now that I know your awesome designs are in the game. The Da Vinci is gorgeous and fits my preference for escort classes and the Columbia is a cool reinterpretation of the NX class which I'm greatly fond of, maybe my favorite Starfleet ship. Seeing your process and the results inspires me to get back into design as well.
Huge fan of the Sabre-Class. I like this one, too. Well done! It reminds me much of the horseshoe crabs, so it should also be very popular with the Ferengi. They surely want to "acquire" that design....
The Da Vinci-class reminds me of a shark in the ocean with the way it looks. Swimming gracefully among the stars and baring it's teeth when threats emerge.
Henry: "... I've been designing ships for Star Trek Online for the past two years or so, and-"
Me, after 2 years: "Aah, now it all makes sense."
I still want the Yeager class. I'm sure EC Henry could make it look pretty cool too.
@@SephirothRyu He would make the Yeager a proper class instead of an odd kitbash ugly.

Its my new favorite and it makes me even happier to support you in a different way
I would love to see more of this detailing your other work for STO.
I really really really love this ship! I am gonna have to go on and buy this now, thank you for this amazing design!!
The gatling emitter labeled as "fairly aggressive" is the understatement of the century. It's _the_ most aggressive weapon in the entire game.
Huge fan of the Sabre-Class. I like this one, too. Well done! It reminds me much of the horseshoe crabs, so it should also be very popular with the Ferengi. They surely want to "acquire" that design....
I really love this design. Thank you for making this video.
The Da Vinci-class reminds me of a shark in the ocean with the way it looks. Swimming gracefully among the stars and baring it's teeth when threats emerge.
I aspire to have the confidence to find a nishe in CGI development. Thank you for being one of many inspirations Henery.
