The 40th performance was the best of all time. Rocco is gone, Mic is gone, David has retired. This performance (the whole 40th concert) had so many iconic past members and long lived great performers. The Masters of Funk. Nothing compares.

Oooooweee!! I was definitely digging that funk!! Being a pro bass player myself, that was an ABSOLUTELY SICK groove that Rocco was throwing down!! I liked that so much I tore that song apart and now for the first time in years, I played it on a 4-string bass! Inspiration!! To say the least, that was THE MOST!!!🥰🥰🥰

This is a demonstration on the skill level that the brass players former and present possess. The writing of the riffs played in back of Richard Elliott is so TOP!!! Lead trumpet is killer!! Greg Adams has his improv moments. Is that Mic Gillette on trombone in the section as well!! Even the Doctor is pounding it!! Great track!!

@@dennylibertario2246 you are being too much of a dickhead with this sentences. Garibaldi is a true legend and he is making all this crazy rhytms you commented and more... but man, the rhytm section is both drums and bass, Garibaldi and Prestia are like a pack, the combo of both of them is what make the groove go on throw all the song like it never ends. They complete each other in all the different rhytms Garibaldi is making so... Yeah, stop being a dickhead!

The Funkiest Band in the World ! Nobody in their best day can top the TOWER OF POWER ! I have followed these guys since 1971 in the Bay Area! I've been too many concerts to count.
I try to style my drumming after Dave Garibaldi, I would do anything to just talk to to Dave or Mimi. I remember when Doc was a skinny white boy in a white t-shirt dancing the wiggle funky dance and Greg Adams and Skip Mesquite would go crazy dancing on stage. I will always miss Mick and Rocco, I saw Mick play with Lydia Pence and Cold Blood, back in the day. I AM A HARDCORE TOWER OF POWER FAN!! HARDCORE !!! I can still see Mimi with his goatee and maroon two-piece suit and ruffle shirt ! Lenny Pickett with his frodancing in circles !! Chester Thompson on keyboards. My favorite singer was DIVA Larry Braggs. You can't sit down when these guys play ! There is nobody better than these guys when they get together! coming up on 60 years??? Incredible.
If you want to give a guy your age a thrill someday and make my wish come true call me for being a devoted fan. I now live in Bakersfield, CA. I know Dave has ridden bikes here, he sold some hi-hats to a buddy of mine ! It shoulda been me !!! FOREVER A FAN, JOHN MEJIA 661-390-6484

I can play this one over and over again. Greg Adams absolutely kills it on the muted trumpet. David and Rocco too. Richard moves away from his smooth jazz comfort zone and nails it. As for the Lenny vs. Richard element, I'm a Lenny man. Listen to his solo on Knock Yourself Out from "Live and in Living Color," and you'll see what I mean. No disrespect to Richard. Wish I could play like him. Saw TOP a month back and they put on an amazing show, even though it was hot, the venue was outside, and they just got back from Tokyo, so betting they were still experiencing jet lag. Never a bad performance in all the times I've seen them. Anyway, tightest horn section ever. Keep going guys.

Love me some Prestia/Garibaldi, but what I like most about this vid is how much Emilio Castillo seems to be enjoying himself...

Richard Elliot played the Performance of a life time....! God gives us talent but someone captured Richards for all to cherish in this video it is timeless I cannot stop playing it.
The whole band played in a different atmosphere, Candy Dulfer was my favorite until I stumbled on this, Richard You are The TENOR Sax Man...… WOW : ) even in 2018

WOWOW~!~ I saw Richard Elliot at the New York Pier in Manhattan back in the very early 1990's. He had Richard Smith on guitar, and oi vey did Smith electrify those guitar strings!!!! Elliot was super-fabulous no exaggeration either!!! The top sax players for me in my opinion of course,, David Sanborn, Richard Elliot & Kirk Whalum #1!!! All 3 are masters of raw tone and breathing. #2 Eugene Groove, Candy Dulfer. There's more,, but these are the ""Screamin Mimi's""!!!!!

I've been listening to The Tower Of Power since they started funking up the air waves "man can they funk that soul music!" Now you add Richard Elliot (one of the great saxophonist in the world) and you get this funky hot jazz jam. Giddy up!!!!!!!! P.S. The drum player is pretty damn good too. Or as the English would say "bloody good!"

It never fails to blow my mind, how nonchalant, and effortlessly David Garibaldi plays soooo much percussion - with so little effort. His expression never changes - he never even looks at the players - his form is textbook! A lot of drummers flail about, and look like they're assaulting the kit - sweating and such - David seems to never break one. I don't get it.

Great; horns in section mega tight, Tenor solo on it and smart move colour of sax. The reason for that; if youve ever had an all black one it can't be seen by the punters. If their filming they hate that so the winter cams cool.
    Great execution, thanks for upload
