Glad to see another Scout saved. If you need any details on a 800A Aristocrat, let me know I have one in my garage that has been loved since new. Your passion for Scouts is awesome!
Ditch the mystery oil and just use Industrial vinegar you get at hardware stores for cleaning. There is a fellow that did an experiment on pistons and rings in a bucket of mystery oil and then he tried the vinegar and hands down the vinegar did a really nice job, but the trick that I used to do was use iodine, and I learned that from one of my old college, heavy duty mechanic teachers. I’ve never tried the vinegar yet, but I can tell you that the iodine works great, and I’ve never ever been able to find any information on others using iodine, but it works. Just go to any pharmacy and you could pick that stuff up. It helps if you put a little bit of heat to the cylinders with either a propane, torch, or a heat gun and then try bumping it over after it’s soaked for 24 hours. Just put a breaker bar on the crankshaft harmonic balancer pulley nut.
I’ve got to get that thing pulled in the shop and get back at it. I had it moving a little bit there at the end but it’s been a while since I’ve tried. Hopefully it’s loosened up a little if not might give you ideas a try.
Marvel mystery oil in each cylinder for a week or two. Drop the oil pan, inspect, reinstall pan and then put new oil in it. Make sure to do the pre-oil procedure (At least 2 complete revolution) the engine before turning it over by hand. I would probably do 2 revolutions one day and wait 24 hours and do another pre-oil. You might be able to save that engine. I also have a 69 Aristocrat. BTW, I met you at Harvester Home coming! Your trip from Alaska is inspirational.
Basically the plan I have but I wouldn’t have waited a day. Sounds like a good idea to me. I’m hopeful the freeze plug is not actually because of a freeze. It came out of gulf coast FL and southern Alabama so a hard freeze hopefully was unlikely. I hope. 🤞been soaking a few days but I’ve not tried anything yet. Well see
About a month ago I just bought an Aristocrat 800A. It’s pretty good but rough for it age. I will have to change out the windshield frame which through the years was changed out to a Scout 80 and roof too. My guess something crushed the top and frame, and the repaired with what was around. The dash in Aristocrats are blue as well as the seats and flooring.
Eventually I’ll be swapping out the top for another one. I’ll have to drill out the roof rack holes and when I do I’ll try to figure out a way to record the measurements. If you need them for your new top hit me up. 👍
@@vintageoverlanding Pop a chalk line center of the roof vertical and horizontal and go off of them. I will have to the same thing. It’s cruel but will work.
i like it i have 1961 =80 and 63=80= ============61 rust bucket parts good motor and running gears dash back glass not running yet==63 has plow i clear snow with it both 4 cyl a trucker gave me both wow love em in 75 i had a 1965 nice sold it and cheery 49 ford 2 door flat head over drive
Baby Scouts, now wouldn’t that be a shame? 😂 I think it was parked under a pine tree, and the top was covered with Pineneedles, which ate through the metal and ripped into the floor with a body really is pretty tight. The floors will be a little bit of work though.

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. 👍
Love your clips.Keep them coming
Thank you. I suspect there will be plenty of video fodder in this recovery. 🤣
can't wait to see it come back to life..
Me too. Really hoping the mystery oil works.

Excellent idea. Thanks

Nothing like a hard working Scout plow truck. 👍 if they survive the rust.
This is the lightweight edition. 😁
No kidding. We’re calling it Swiss cheese for now!
The body looks suprisingly good for as bad as the top is. Better not park it next the the other 2 or they will keep making babies......

Did u get it running??
I had to step away for a little while and haven’t gotten back to it but it’s on the short list for an upcoming episode. I’m not giving up on it.
