I grew up on a hay farm / ranch with many Corn Binders being used. I served in the Navy, and when I got out I found a 70 Scout 800A with a V8 in it. We were surprised that it was a 266 we thought that all of them were 304's. It worked ok but was under powered. A couple of years later we found a wrecked one ton utility truck with a 392 in it. We paid $50 for the truck and pulled the 392 and it was a direct swap for the 266. Wow, what a hot rod. Then we started the long sad story of drive train breakage. We took the drive train from a full size Wagoner, and all the other stuff we could think of. What a joy to wheel. the only thing that was a direct bolt in was the 392, but what fun we had. Wish I still had it. But I have it on good authority that it is still wheeling somewhere in Arizona.
Those 4 litres came with 200hp I've got a built one in my 04 jeep. Bored, domed piston ported, polished head, header,Borla raptor exhaust, fuel injectors from a 5.0 stang big ass throttle body. (Don't remember but wanna say 63 mm) air raid throttle body spacer, baffled bondage tray. I love that engine! Over 300hp out of an I-6? Yes!
I am so jealous of all of your internationals! I love the old IHC iron. I miss my 72 scout II and wish I had never gotten rid of it. I can’t afford one now lol. And all of the crew cabs and travelalls!
I had a 74 Scout ll and it was the best vehicle for going through the snow in. Take that 4.0 liter and build it into a 4.6 stroker using a 258 crankshaft.
Lucky man man you are! To know someone that knows a thing or two; good common sense and a moral standing is cool and all but you get to call him "friend". Lucky or blessed I say. I think he made a choice in selling to you.
Does the A in 800 A mean anything??? I Want to see/hear more International stories. IF--IF You buddy owned this Scout in the 90's-how did he acquire it??? There has to be another story from 1970 till 1990. How where did Scout come from before him???

Nice looking scout
The design of the scout was so ahead of its time. Ages better than its contemporaries
I miss mine. I had a,76 international HI.
That is a sweet ride! Glad you are enjoying it the way the previous owner intended.
Looks like your friend knew what he was doing. You're lucky !
Nice trail rig found you from your neighbors channel. Will be watching
Nice scout.

That is a great story and rig, Ben. That guy was ahead of his time. Good info on the engine swap.

That’s a sweet build!
Wonderful story about a great rig! I'm envious.
That's so cool.
My dad did the axel fix on his which raised it up pretty good
He built a rock crawler before anyone was even thinking about that!

Lucky guy.
My ex named it the beast. I've literally had other car guys argue with me saying dude that's a v-8 and I'm like no look!😂

Such an awesome rig!!!!
I LOVE your rig.
Pretty sweet!
Thanks for the video
I see the issue with me trying to buy my 1st IHC is ppl are hoarding them.
Tell me I'm wrong...
They made truck from snowrunner into real life
Were these same as the broncos or based off the bronco??
Of course the engines swap easily, they're both AMC straight sixes!

Ben, you sound like another one of these wonks that think Summer starts in May in Oregon! you were all spoiled by El Ninio! Its Hilarious to me.
A LS engine will work much better at pulling you around man. That 4 cylinder is freaking weak
Even if you gear it
