Im a Waitrose shopper and I honestly think it’s definitely reasonable when it comes to prices. Yeah other supermarkets are cheaper but what you’re actually paying for in Waitrose is quality. Waitrose work closely with its own farmers and suppliers. They have a higher welfare when it comes to animals. They stock more organic produce than any other UK based supermarket and they are very charitable. They pay the staff a good wage. And they go out there way to make the customers feel fantastic. The extra touches of being a Waitrose member is free coffee and a newspaper with every shop . Free Food and Drink magazine. Discounted coupons every Wednesday. Access to the Waitrose cookery school. Special competitions. And if you’re getting your groceries delivered to your house waitrose delivery drivers will pack away you’re shopping for you.

Thank you a lot for feedback and information you have provided👍 I am totally agree that the quality of products at waitrose is on a high level. Maybe its less affordable then Aldi or Lidl, but when it comes to a quality Waitrose is definitely is the best one👌

The meat, fruit and vegetables always taste better from waitrrose. At least compared to other supermarkets most of the time.

I'm a regular Waitrose shopper & find their prices quite reasonable especially their essential range! This video shows the dearer groceries? There are reasonable priced goods & as said before the service is very good.
If you have a problem with your purchase they will not only change it they will also refund you. Would not shop anywhere else.

Have you noticed in British supermarkets, massive wine/alcoholic beverage section that are underutilised. Why not use the space for other faster moving products? Or is because booze has an exceptionally high mark up? Britain must be a hard place to take sober. Fortunately I don't have that problem.

Thanks for your comment, Jack! It could be that alcohol has a higher markup, or perhaps it just caters to demand. Interesting point about the space, though!

Product we can't get in Japan: Pork pies, oxtail soup, corned beef, the thicker grades of cream (large container), wide range of cheese, lardy cake. horseradish sauce, red currant jelly, decent vodka ... hardly the end of the world.

Ohhh I am surprised, did not expect that grocery prices in Australia are more expensive. UK definitely is getting expensive, but same is everywhere I guess so😔

Yes, I lived in London for 20 years, returned to Australia in 2018. Prices here are far more expensive. Always have been. I'm surprised at how little the prices in the UK have increased, compared to here. I mostly shopped in Waitrose and remember many of the prices I paid then.

Oh if only we could get M&S Food or Waitrose here in Australia. I love shopping at supermarkets when in the U.K. I find our supermarkets so backward when it comes to range and extremely messy in presentation.

We watched some videos and were surprised to find that Canada, Australia, and the USA are more expensive than we thought. It turns out that UK market prices are actually more affordable.

@@michaelfoyMate. Get the chip off that shoulder and stop believing whiners telling you it’s Brexit. It isn’t. What? Europe is the only source of food for the U.K.? What did you do before being part of the EU? Starve? Australia isn’t part of the EU and we have empty shelves often. Is that Brexit as well. It seems to be the way of whiners wanting to blame Brexit for every issue for price rises to empty shelves. Guess what. Prices are rising GLOBALLY as well.
