It becomes so easy for us to read these stories of the Pharisees and shake out heads, but at times we are no better than they. Even today so many of us as Christians are still adding our own rules and amendments to God's law. Lord please help us to recognize and to cast off our pharasitical robes!🙏

A man has been lying paralyzed for 38 years and when Jesus heals him, He warns him to “stop sinning” (Jn 5:14). He hasn’t moved in 38 years; how was he sinning? Jesus seems to be identifying sin as our thoughts, our assumptions about God’s character: is He good, even though I’ve been stuck in despair all these years? Is He capable of healing? Why does He overlook me and others have their merry lives? Jesus questions all that by asking “Do you want to get well? Then pick up your mat-don’t leave it behind, but let it remind you of how God has changed your life. And know that God is a good God.” Somehow, carrying my grief, but with a trusting heart, reminds me of how God is transforming me.

I’ve always thought it was interesting that Jesus chose this one particular person. Perhaps He knew that He would give Him the glory for it alone. To think that someone would point out that he was carrying his bed and supposedly breaking the “law”, MANS law not Gods, is so crazy. I never noticed before that Jesus saw the man again and encouraged him. Jesus meets us right where we are at. Then as I read all those beautiful red letters of Jesus actually explaining plain and simple “who HE IS” 🙌. So grateful that He’s MY SAVIOR, HEALER, DELIVERER, AND REDEEMER

I pray for peace and love from the leadership in our country. Every day there is a new lie and hate from country leader. It’s time to let it go already! John 13:34, "A new commandment I give unto you, "That you love one another; as I have loved you, that ye love one another". Prayers for all the victim of Hurricane Helene that they will rebuild better than before. Remember, He will never leave us or forsake us. I know I need Jesus and our country leaders need Jesus too.

How often to we treat our fences like it's God's law? Something meant to protect us or protect the law becomes higher and mightier than the law itself and we put our own spin and twist on it while we lose the validity and the meaning of what the law originally stated. We give man made traditions equal standing with God's law! Oye!
And. I love how she points out the man at the pool immediately going to draw near to God at the temple. How often do I hear from God, recieve miracles, and go about my own business?
I love her analogies and how she gives me such great tools to understand. The law is like the MRI machine which shows where we need healing and diagnoses the problem, but we still need our surgeon-Jesus! He is the Law filler and life giver! Knowing scripture without knowing Him is pointless.
Father, how often do I forget to pray YOUR will, not my own! I can be so fearful of what you have in store for me and I can cower back and shrink away, but Father, help me to submit to the plan You have for me with remarkable humility. The law is impossible for me to keep, help me and others see our great need for You! Our moral uprightness will never have the power to save- only You have the ability to speak to our dead hearts and call them to life!
    Hallelujah and amen!
Praise be to God alone! In Jesus's mighty and holy name I ask for His will to be done, amen.

My God shot. Love this verse because it highlights the true love Jesus has in his heart. He didn’t have to do any of the amazing works he did, yet he did. Furthermore he was also filled with so much love and selflessness that he gave himself up as a sacrifice to die for all our sakes. God is so good. God bless all y’all today.

Having trust, faith and hope is Jesus; he was healed and able to take up his matt and walk again. Where did he go? To the Temple. He was reminded in 5:14, “Behold, thou art made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee". He is where the JOY is!!!

God created the sabbath for man, not man for the sabbath. This is an interesting quote I heard from a source I cannot recall. God and Jesus can "work" on the sabbath and Jesus talks about His works in John 5:16-17 NIV
"So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”'
God is always working. May we trust and worship Him for all He does for us. I felt the need for a day of rest over the last 3 weeks of working. It took a toll on me mentally and physically. I am exhausted and am seeking rest.I understand God's command to us to take a day of rest in a new way. God knows us, He knows what we need. We need Him!

Jesus heals the paralyzed man by the pool of Bethesda. The minute he’s healed he goes to the temple to worship God. He wanted to be close to God.
When he was paralyzed, Jesus came to him. When he was healed, Jesus came to him. Jesus does the same for us.
He tells the man to sin no more so that nothing worse comes to him.
This is not a threat. Jesus knows that outside of Himself there’s not life.
    Oh His heart of love.
The Pharisees tell the man he’s done wrong by bringing his mat to the temple. That he’s not allowed to be healed on the sabbath-Hypocrisy!
Jesus does not want man made laws and traditions added to His word.
It brings a false doctrine that rule keeping is the way to God.
Your heart in belief and relationship w Jesus and God is the way to life.
    No other way.
Jesus broke the Pharisees rules on purpose to show that.
Knowing scripture without knowing Christ is pointless. All the laws were given to show how impossible it is to keep and to humble mankind into seeing our great need for Him- the law fulfiller and life giver. The law is the MRI that diagnosis the problem. Jesus is the surgeon.
Jesus submits to the will of God the Father constantly. He shows us that we can too.
“When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.” Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬, ‭9‬-‭10‬, ‭14‬-‭15‬, ‭17‬, ‭19‬-‭24‬, ‭36‬, ‭40‬, ‭44‬ ‭
