Thanks for taking the time to film and edit these videos. They are a ton of fun to watch. If I can’t be out there myself - this will do!
glad you enjoyed it hope to see you out there
Jim you may want to consider not coaching other anglers on how to fight their fish. Ive noticed it in more then one of your vids. The deck hands will take care of that.
we all are working together, some of the coaching is for the viewer so they can see and understand I hope to keep making better and better videos all your tips help
@@cousinjim1 I'm not sure you're really listening to this suggestion that he's laying out for you are you?
@@CP-vi6jv I take into account every suggestion we will have to see if my videos get better tight lines
Really good video Cousin Jim! I've been on several boats out of San Diego over the past 3 years. I appreciate you and the crews patience with the newbies/novices. Last couple of boats I've been on this year, there was a mix of newbies/novices to very experienced. There a were a few of the experienced people who were not welcoming. In fact, they were straight up trying to intimidate, and being in general entitled jerks. No fun being on a boat with that kind of vibe. It became even worse when the crew was focused on helping the experienced vs. the inexperienced. Won't go on those boats anymore. Going down this Sunday for 1.5 day trip on a good boat with a good crew.
i know what you mean I have guys that are long time fishermen give an attitude towards me because I film and fish it makes it not fun when they treat anybody like that.
Most the time it is a good experience on the boat I've only had one bad boat experience with the crew fortunately I have CRS disease and do not remember what boat it was as I always try and make a fun video. I will remember when I fish it again. tight lines!
That deckhand Matt is such a nice man. I had seen him on several boats. May be Ocean Odyssey last year . Great guy. Thank you Cousin Jim for mentioning him and others.
Hope to run into you one of these days. I am enjoying your videos.
Any thoughts to what happened to the big ones ?
yes they are 30miles farther out so a one day trip can not reach them
Jim, thanks for all the knowledge you provided to me and son-in-law. It was great meeting you and your brother! Thanks for the koozie. 🎣🎣
Tight lines Frank
Great video Jim, Nice Fish, looked like that boat was doing really well, exciting time's.
yes that crew works very hard for you
Thanks for the content Cousin Jim!

@@cousinjim1 ol cool
Cousin Jim. Im in Arizona and due to medical issues i haven't been able to go out. but im getting that itch it looks like the over night boats are doing the best. if i were able to make it out soon witch landing and boat would you recommend, thank you tight lines.
Right now, there has been virtually no day bite until a trip this week and it was all yellowtail during the day. All the boats catch fish. The important thing is to get a full night of fishing.
Hope you start feeling better and you hit an incredible bite
Love the channel cousin jim! I’ll be on the highliner June 30th. Will I see you out there?
sorry I will still be in Florida wish I could
how often do they bite the jig on the drop or wind up?
the thought of dropping 300-400ft just to wind it up to drop again seems tiring!
i don’t have confidence in my jigging ability so all i have is a rail rod and reel combo.
If captain says fish are at 350 ft you would drop your jig to about 400-450 ft and then wind up past the fish to about 300ft and drop back down to 400ft keeping your jig in about a 100 foot zone. Still can be a lot work but don’t have to drop all the way down and bring it back to the surface each drop.
@@travisbright24 It is a lot of work you get tired just reeling when a fish hits the adrenaline kicks in and you are no longer tired
@@cousinjim1 absolutely 🤣 staying up all night doesn’t help either lol. I was on the Apollo 2.5 two weeks ago and it was all night fish, drinking coffee all night and fishing 9pm-5am but got 6 BFT so all worth it.
@@travisbright24 way to slay them!
What was the date of this trip?

How can you tell what depth is your line going

hope this helps
Is a Penn fathom 40nld2 capable of being a knife jig reel?
yes just match your reel line rod and jig you will be fine unless you hook the big one

@@cousinjim1 thanks would you recommend 80 or 100 on the 40?
@@socalfishincrew5410 if you are confident in your fishing skills 80# is good as long as you survive the tunas first two runs
Thanks and I love the Chanel 👍👍
@@socalfishincrew5410 my pleasure
Hey cousin Jim are you heading on the ranger 85 on July 26?
Mini lobster season in Florida is then so I wont be on that trip Catch them up!
Jim I am in Japan and just bought 2 shimano beastmaster 6000MD and 9000. Let's see some electric reel tuna fishing. I will bring at least 1 on the pacific dawn 2.5 day trip in September. Come show me how to use it. 😂
my electric reels are in Florida and wired to the boat at this time I am not set up for it but maybe some day
That guy Paul was roping fish all night long.....
from watching the video it sure looked like he was on fire
