Two things to help you Becca. For the frozen winches, get a gallon jug of Menthol Hydrate and a spray bottle. Fill the spray bottle as you need it to spray the winches. We've done that up in central Canada for years. We get lots of iced up equipment in the Spring and Fall. The other thing is your load levelers, as you call them. We call them bunks up here, but your name makes sense. You should always have two of them with a step deck. You get your shop to put 2 pockets on each side behind the kick, if they're not already there. Make sure the levelers are the same height as the kick when they are in the pockets. I'm surprised that you're pulling a step deck, and your company didn't think of that when they first bought the trailer. Hope this helps you out. Be safe and you're doing a great job with the pooches. Take care.
You dont need methanol hydrate...That just metanol with "hydrate"....uh...water. duh! Pluse methanol is toxic ...Vodka is not toxic. and its cheaper. Also, just get truck stop window wash ...it has some ethanol in it.
@@redleader Hi there redleader. I've been driving since 1964, a year underage and still driving ,deckwork, at76 years old. We've used it up here in central Canada since I can't remember, it's been such a part of northern driving. I mean northern, I drove the winter roads for 7 years, as in the phony TV. series Ice Road Truckers. Did it long before they came up to northern Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. So menthol hydrate was used for many problems. At minus 55 wind chill in St. Theresa Point and your fuel starts to gel as you're pumping off a load of fuel at the school, you quickly throw some in your fuel tanks to keep your truck going or you're screwed up there. Anyway, you're probably right about it causing blindness but yet to see anyone get it in their eyes. Not saying it hasn't happened, but I've not heard of it. And that mikenfalls character above your comment saying what's wrong with me, maybe no experience on his part. When he's driven 58 years with one accident, then maybe he can question me. I'm far from perfect or a- no- it- all, but I have some experience. Sorry for ranting on.
@@wallytimmins356 @mikenkfalls @redleader Evidently, the people that are giving you crap about using methanol haven't had to deal with moving parts in the subzero temps that we have. If properly using methanol causes acute blindness, then I would think there would be thousands of blind oilfield workers, since this is used daily during the winter at every pumping site. If they meant, "spraying directly in your eyes causes acute blindness", then yes, I suppose they are correct. But, so does spraying Clorox, paint, or any other stupid thing you can think of, directly in your eyes.
Hey Becca I like seeing our younger generation that are happy like you at there Jobs. Also women driving trucks I see a lot of these days anyways keep trucking
Hi Becca , as an ex drive The best way to strap down the beam is to put the strap all away around the beam and do a loop a looop , then thread the strap through the loop and tight it down that way. Its more secure. Great video as always.
Best way is to have winch's on both sides of the trailer and use 2 40' straps for belly wraps. If you only have winch's on one side you always rachets, clip on winch's or stake pocket winch's on the other side so its pulling to both sides. Did a 60' pole that was 52,000 lbs that required a triple axle stepdeck. Had about 12 straps including 40' belly wraps. Never moved an inch from Columbus, NE to Salina, KS.
Becca, get your yourself a propane bottle and a torch attachment, just hit the button and she will light up, no lighters needed, let her rip with the flame on your propane torch, that’s what we did to our frozen locks on the truck, works superbly! And, use a little graphite on the wenches. Happy Trails Becca!
I tried to keep as much free dunage as I could. Those little wedges are great wheel blocks for trailers or coils. Always carry nails and a hammer with you too.
I don’t care how you strap your stuff down…. I just come here because I think you’re an extremely funny and cute dork. I like your hair😉. Keep on trucking lady👍🏻🇺🇸.
Becca try and stay with me. Please! So like if you adjust the high-dollar premium quarter fenders so the mud flaps are sitting vertically instead of aiming for the back of the cab then we won't get our headache rack so dirty. Make sense? We'll also be looking cool...good job.
@@bigrigbecca If you want to keep your quarter fender you could d i y by using exhaust muffler clamp add a piece of mud flap on front bolted to trailer As a mechanic i modify that fender as soon there's a warning or watch your step mom jona's pete she had top coverage
I think that a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol should thaw out that ice. I'm not a truck driver but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
Great video and channel, I am glad that I am not the only one that talks to my yourkipoo all the time like she is a person. Love the dogs, they are looking out for you. Thanks for sharing your day.
Great video Becca🎉🎉🎉🎉 tell that forklift operator not too much you are my driver ❤❤❤ to the people that ran out of gas in front of you keep on smoking 😅😅😅😅
Hello Becca ….. thank you for another wonderful video! Your videos are always very entertaining! you are a one woman comedy show you and the 🐶 pups. Stay safe Becca! Mike from Cleveland Ohio thanks. Great to see you baby baby!
A Sure Fire propane torch works, but not great. You should carry one anyway to thaw out locks, melt the ends of straps if you cut them down so they don't fray, Heating up old IFTA stickers to remove them, heat shrink electrical connectors and more. I think East trailers winches are a lot worse then regular LL winches when they freeze. Probably the worst peroid.
I think a spray can of windshield deicer would fix the frozen winches and maybe you should try one of those little mics that clip on your shirt or jacket. 😎👍👍
It’s that time of year my friend,we start in the dark and end in the dark, ugh it’s gross! You’ll more often wanna get in a rush, but don’t let yourself get into that habit because now it’s easier to forget things. If you’re gonna keep pulling a skateboard you should have a pair of load levelers.Much as they are a pain in rear, they also can help you get more loads, you and the furballs are looking great,it’s good to see ya guys again, stay safe out there driver, see ya down the road.
Hi Becca. Been out here . Haven’t sent any messages. Been sick with Covid. Third time. This one lasted 6 weeks. Pretty sick.. then Vertigo set in. I know I am a little 90 year old broad but this is still hanging in. Haven’t worked at the Sheriffs Station since a July. Hope to get back after first if year. How is Grandma dying. Hope better and home.. Will keep enjoying your posts.you are doing a fantastic job. Hugs to the fur babies. See later .
Little propane torch from the hardware store. They're really easy to light. I like the lighters for like lighting a grill. I use mine to light my bee hive smoker but they are good for a quick thaw. They burn hot so be safe.
Good morning, Two things: First I use a lock dicer second the Levi patch on that beanie I a not sure how you feel about guns or hunting but they as a company are very anti-gun. Keep the shiny side up and god bless
The tie-downs do not look like they would hold the load central. How about two loops pulling against each other, with respective ends ratcheted to their respective same sides.?
Why would a male not try to flirt with you. You are a very nice looking young lady, be safe out there, make sure you have enough clothes for the winter. I carried 3or4 coats with me. God bless 🎉😊
Becca in one of your previous videos you were going to get some de greaser for your box at the back of your cab? To get it looking new & spotless again
I don't even worry about delivery times. Broker and dispatch will stress you out if you let them. They wait till the last minute to broker a load barely giving you enough time to get there then call you 3x a day to check up, even when they are tracking your phone. If i know ill be late i just tell dispatch why, and ask for a new delivery appointment by text. Then i mute the phone and turn up Pandora or go to sleep.
You should put your tarps on step so you can move your loads forward more. And know the center point of your trailer can be your best friend pulling a step deck
Becca, you really need to stop leaving Zekie inside the truck like that…He’s gonna drive away! 🐶😂🐶😂🐶😂 He’s too funny eating the yellow snow! He was wondering why he didn’t have his snow shoes on for his walk. Take care, BRB!
I have not had any trouble with that on poles that size or smaller. Smaller ones I do usually do at least 2 belly wraps per level though. Our trailers do have winch's on both sides and I do use winch to winch straps as well. Winch to winch are just the straps with the hooks cut off. Get more use out of them depending on where the strap got cut/sliced at, rather than throw away a 20, 30 or 40' strap with a cut down by the hook. Also a good way to shorter straps for the smaller items/loads.
That long pole will kill you in a panic stop. Need to wrap several straps all the way around...belly strap. Also on the end closest to truck...insert a long piece of hardwood timber, then use a chain to wedge it in place, wrap chain around trailer pockets and bind.
Hi great to see a new video from you hope your thanksgiving was nice also it was great to see the boys they are so cute be safe see ya on the next video.

Sorry ...wally I didnt see your note before posted. Methanol causes acute blindness. It's best to just stay away from it. Unless it is waaaay diluted.

The Road Queen putting in that work! Hope you had great family time! Well deserved!
