- This time on Busted Knuckle Ride and Review we are testing the limits of the 2024 Polaris Xpedition ADV 1000 Northstar to see if it can hang with the typical trail riding that we do here in the Southeast. I really like the AC and creature comforts of this unit but I lift a tire and almost roll it way too often. Maybe we can get a good deal on one and do a long travel or portal build with some 35 to 37" tires. We would also for sure ditch the front swaybar and maybe even the rear. No roof top tent for us either. See what we thought of this machine and how it did on our normal testing ground at Stony Lonesome OHV Park here in Cullman, Alabama.

For someone with a farm or ranch who needs it for property work and occasional offroad trails (70/30 split) and can get a tax deduction, it's worth considering.
However, for someone who primarily uses it for offroad trail rides, fishing, and hunting with an enclosed cabin, there are better options at a much lower price.
For real offroad trails, I would rate it 5 out of 10. It's tippy due to high C.G., too heavy, not enough suspension travel, horrible suspension flex, and pricey!
I would never in my healthy state of mind pay $40k for an OHV for real offroad trails that does not perform as it should, unless I had a farm/ranch and can write it off.

I got a 2-seater, put 32 terrabites and bead locks on it, the pro armor tires need to be the XGs, get rid of the roof crap. They do feel top heavy but won't go over (lots of Arizona rides) Yes, it does make you a drive as visibility is a challenge.
2 seater wheelbase is probably sketch too

Considering the 150 lbs. on the roof - I would say the machine did awesome in the tough terrain you put it through. Not the right tool for that job - but a pretty nice all around rig. With a long travel, Pro EFI turbo kit - you will have the ultimate camping and hunting rig!

We love ours we put two big dogs in back with seats down and turn ac on and drive in 100 degrees weather and stay cool.
perfect use for it for sure, but you could do the same thing in a loaded out Jeep JLUR for cheaper.
They should have used the latch from the front glass on the rear hatch.

I’m a 6 year and goin Polaris fan. Absolutely love my 850 high lifter. But 45000$ before taxes and finance fees is ridiculous ur lookin at 50-65k$ after it’s paid for ain’t no way they sell many of these
They are top tier priced for sure
And yet I've seen more and more of them out there trails, you say they won't sell and i agree i sure won't buy 1 for the price. However they are selling faster than I'd of expected.

They’ve lost their minds with this one honestly. 40-50k is Jeep or Toyota money and its not street legal. I would probably be interested for 20-30k.
I feel the same way. As much as I would like one, I think I'll stick with the JLUR
Not street legal maybe where you live, but in states that are, you can drive them with those plates any where in the USA.

Riding interstates is not the argument, but using them in non interstate roads for what ever reason should be the argument.
For 45k you can get into a fairly built JK rubicon and have money left over to put it on tons.
can get a JLU rubicon for that
you still cant run a rubicon 30 mph over rough terrain at that price. The sxs still out performs them in all areas but being able to parking lot creep.

Have not driven one, but from the 20 plus videos I've seen, it looks like level and semi- level ground is where this thing fits in. Off camber and pitched trails are not friendly to it. Better suited for Ohio, north and anything from Mississippi River to the rockies. Mountains. I want one but where I live. I really don't think it would do well. We have road type trails here but I like more technical trials. Good machine over all.

We have had a XP-5 Northstar for nearly a year. Disconnect the front sway bar and take that stupid heavy tent off the roof. Common sense stuff if you going to crawl rocks

Regarding the door issue: I just picked up the same model. I got home and the right front passenger door lock does not work. So... what is the factory fix you ask? Well we will replace the door lock and you will have two keys for the doors instead of two. WTH?!! 40k and this is their solution? I can't ever imagine a major automotive manufacturer doing this. EVER! SMH!

Be careful with that game changer. I picked up a can am defender hd 10 limited. It is my wife's new grocery getter. That ac and heater makes it a little too conformable.

The only thing it needs for it to be street legal is turn signals, it appears to have everything else. But the price tag is a bit high.

Was the suspension on the softest setting?
I didn't mess with the shocks. I just ran them as they were. It is not dynamix so there is no adjust on the fly settings.

So Polaris is getting into the SUV market not that more and more states are allowing them on the roads. Definitely needs more travel, down travel! Soon these will be crawling over parking blocks in all the grocery store parking lots.

For that price I would buy a Jeep JLU.
I would worry about the resale value of it, a jeep with 10,000 miles is still considered new. A side-by-side with 4000 miles is considered worn out.

I've drove em without the tent on top and it still felt like it would tip on a flat parking lot with a stiff wind. I didn't like it at all. Too loud and underpowered imo.
