- Kizer Metapropitzol fixed blade in D2 steel.
Had a hiccup with the steel. Not sure if the knife is too thin, bad heat treat or what. It did finish the job however. And what amazes me is the secondary bevel was freaking sharp with no damage. So I am stumped it warped. I still believe it’s a great design. Hopefully I can work with the vendor on figuring out what went wrong. Bad heat treat??? Maybe but not sure.

I could see the warp in the blade after the first few chops into that knot at the beginning of the video. I think the metal is too thin to absorb that kind of shock. But the edge didn't roll so it remained sharp. So probably a pretty good heat treat
Damn
2 Voyagers, My D-17 Bowie, 357, and My 1917 Cutlass in action/ carrying today. Keep up the great work brother ⚔️👍🤠
Thanks man!
Bent but not broke. Cool to see it was still sharp. Well done Gruggs.
Thanks!
A good example of why "I" buy knives from your channel! I've got only FIVE channels that I tune into for knife reviews, and your testing, is an excellent reason why I tune into yours Gruggs! Every knife I have, has been put thru the ringer and if it literally doesn't "cut" the mustard, it ain't comin' home!!! What you guys do is a service! A service that will not only save us money, but heaven forbid, something even more serious!!! My rant stops here... Thank you Gruggs! Great review...
Thanks for the great comment Jorge!
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery it's the truth!
The name of that one sounds like my blood pressure pills. Lol
🤣
It seems that the blade thickness was too thin for the length of the blade. It is a shame because the design is so good. The heat treatment was good, so it may have only bent a little. Thanks again today for the good review Mr.Gruggs!
Thanks!
Looks great and tough too for this blade ! 💪💪💪
It had some issues
Beautiful, effectively functional and cheap compared to many more famous peers I hope it will arrive soon
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It really does suck that the edge bent, but I gotta give this knife props for holding up through the testing, you really gave that wood knot some work. I definitely had my reservations about D2 being grinded down that thin, but the testing doesn't lie. Even with a bend, that knife is a brutal chopper that will keep going even though it's built better for other tasks. I hope Kizer does their own tests to see where the blade can be improved.
Amen!
Great to see you put this knife through the rigors. While it can stand up to those hard use tasks there are better tools ideally. One knife doesn't need to do everything, same as an artist/ painter wouldn't use one brush. Great looking knife and price point, have a few Kizer knives they are quality.
Thank you!
I like this one it could use thicker blade stock though.
Agreed! Needs to be thicker.
Seemed to perform well. Bummer it bent a bit
Yeah it finished the job for sure.
For a $79 USD knife it would be a good choice for a light to medium duty knife for someone on a budget. For the everyday user it seems to meet the requirements.
100 percent
This review just saved me £110, think I'll get something else, many thanks.
Check out Eafengrow, Lengren, Komwero, Lothar. They make excellent blades.
You really dodged a bullet there.
I picked one of these up .i really like it
It’s an awesome blde!
Bent a little or not definitely worth the price. Excellent video bud. 😊
I agree with you. I like the design.
That thinness is definitely not meant for hard dry wood. Would do great for soft tree limbs
It’s a bummer. But I didn’t do anything to hard core like I do in NY. I think the knife had some issues.
Good vid. I had a feeling the steel was too thin. D2 is fickle. If it is done right its good, but its hard to get it perfect. In my honest option. Keeping in mind I am also a blade smith. If they had gone with 3/16th inch stalk and a saber grind, I think that it would have been solid for that test. It looks like an epic slicer. Take that blade though a set of Japanese water stones and it would cut space/time lol. Thank you for testing it out. Your test save alot of us money. It was your test vid on the EF 129 that made me make the call to buy it. So thank you again very much!
I am glad you enjoyed. It could be this one blade or batch are defective. I have done a lot worse on other D2 Steel blades.
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery It could be a one off, thats been known to happen. It is a nice looking knife. Maybe you can get hold of the company and find out something from their end.
All ready did. They are going to look into it according to the representative.
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery good deal man. hope they can send you a new one at least
They are! At least that’s what they said.
Yeah, too bad the knife only looks the part of a chopper. You didn’t go easy on it, at least it didn’t chip. I’ve seen this happen on a Victorinox Venture, which is also fairly thin for a bushcraft knife. Great test as always.
Thank you my good man but in my opinion this knife should have had no issues! I have done worse back at the Legion outpost in NY. Way worse.
Knots will do that at least it didn’t crack or chip and held an edge.
Agreed!
I'm carrying the Buck 251 Langford and the CRKT SPEW
Excellent thank you!
Did Kizer ever send you a replacement? Would like to know if it’s just a one off or not. I really like the looks of this thing.
Kizer’s customer service has always been amazing for me. They sent me a new blade for a folding knife just because I got a slight edge roll on some 154CM when they thought I shouldn’t. Sight unseen.
Yes i did! They replaced both my knives! They also gifted me a knife in 154cm. They are a stand up company!
That’s awesome. Did you ever put the new one through the wringer again to see if it was a fluke? Love your testing by the way. Just stumbled upon you yesterday. Subscribed ver quickly haha
😢😢😢😢😊😊😊
😭😭😭
It’s a slicer not a chopper, it looks like it would work well at food prep, some big game work maybe some skinning definitely self defense, just to thin for chopping.
My opinion it should have been able to do some chopping. It still did very well…
Too thin. No dice.
I hear ya.
You didn't do anything that extreme for the blade to bend like that. I would not buy this knife.
I have to agree. I have done way harder testing back at the Legion Outpost in NY. I personally still like this knife.
