1970 AAR cuda restoration part 1 it will buff

- This 1970 AAR cuda was wreaked drag racing in the 1970 shortly after the engine transmission rear end and other parts where striped off the car and left for dead in the woods for 50 plus years the drive line was put in a pickup in the 1970s so who knows where they are now hopefully we can find the original drive line so we can have a numbers matching restoration this will more than likely be a long process it may take a few months to get all the parts and this car back on the road

This is like one step away from finding a vin plate on the ground and restoring around it. Love it.
LOL
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And after watching this video I'm not sure if it's even a complete Vin plate
This comment is very close to being as good as the content it's made on. Brilliant!
Came here to make a vin plate joke.
Did anyone else see the rat crawl out during the dash removal? Hats off to your determination! I wouldn’t have taken on a resto like this even when I was younger. I am determined however to watching you do it from my easy chair 😂. Seriously though I wish you good luck and am looking forward to future updates.
I was wondering if I was the only one
Yeeech! Must have been living in the heater housing, everything else is too full of holes to offer shelter. Get a cat!
05:17 drivers side straight down from the A post in that big hole ……
Yep, spotted that. At first I thought it must be a scrap of something flapping in the breeze, but this is indoors...
Watch a rat exit the car at 5:23 into the video😂
The most optimist restoration that I think I'll ever see. I'm absolutely loving it.
This is no where near as bad. But its now a collector aussie car. ruclips.net/video/fSisoRZoW-I/видео.html
The restoring a burnt hell cat is incredible too
Había una rata en tablero
Just think one day people will be doing this to Honda's,😂
That’s why I love this channel
I honestly thought you were pranking us. All the way until the floor pan showed up I thought you were any second going to say, "GOTCHA!!!" If you can fix that mess, nothing is out of your reach. Seriously impressed and now hooked on seeing this to completion!
Can we talk about the fact that this man is fully solo with no help fixing basically scrap metal that was once a cuda and is doing a phenomenal job with his only company being a rat, a car, and a camera. This man is a legend in my book.
'She ain't that rough'....wow. Love his use of 'we' like he has a team of 10 guys. Awesome video.
also if you missed it. I found the rat. it crawled out from drivers dash after you losses it and moved to passenger dash bolt. around 5:15 in video
I was wondering if any body else saw that...has a nice lil shop rat now
big boy wasn't he
Whew. I had to go back and watch it again.
now the rat is in the house
Great eye Marc! Now we got the shop mascot!
I can't believe what I've just watched. I did an apprenticeship in vehicle body building and repair in 1982 and I wouldn't even know where to start on this one!! Would have thought too far gone. Total respect to you. Going to watch episode 2 now. Can't wait to see it finished.
Now THIS is a resto! This is not "Bought a clunker and dropped a performance engine in it", this is a phenomenal project you're undertaking. Can't wait to see this as it evolves (although I do wish for your sake you'd wear googles when cutting sheet metal with a chop saw!)
I'll definitely 2nd that!
Safety goggles, a MUST!
If u go to, get an MRI and u got micro metal particles in your eye which u may not know about, it can rip them around in your eye causing permanent blindness! 👀
a FAT WALLET is of prime PRIORITY.
And safety gloves for welding. Once you get glowing hot metal on your hands you will know why ;)
Safety always number one priority.
Number one.
What's wrong with making a clunker go fast? Sleepers are the new norm.
I have suddenly gained a lot of confidence when it comes to replacing the oil filter housing gasket on my 2005 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2.
It’s all relative, isn’t it!?

I’m 68, and when I was 16, remember walking around these cars on the dealership lot. Wishing I could get me one.
I remember the same thing in 1984 (used lot). A lot of nice Mopars were selling for around 5k. A friend owned a mint Hemi 70 Challenger, paid 10k for it.
I'm a mopar guy, this one should be saved! This is a ambitious project, good luck, and thanks for the posting can't wait to see the progress on this car.
Congratulations on saving something most people would have scrapped, can't wait to see how it looks when you're finished with it
At least one person did scrap it :D
@@onno_vocks This. You can't rebuild a car outta rust and 90% of that that's exactly what it is. I'm guessing the vin is the only thing of value there.
@@Adrian2140 yeah you can't weld to rust.
The only way this makes the remotest sense is if he pays himself zero for labor, and keeps it when it's done.
Any legit Mopar appraiser is going to recognize it for exactly what it is. Essentially a VIN swap.
Really enjoy this dudes stuff, not only do I learn loads about vintage vehicles which are very cool, but I learn loads about wildlife in Arkansas, Pack rats, Red paper wasps, Dirt daubers, Copperhead snakes, lizards that live under car seats and of course the odd deer foot. Thanks for the uploads.
Wow. I'm blown away. I stumbled upon this film and at first I thought you were joking!!!..... Now i'm subscribed and can't wait to see this project completed. Great work so far!
You had us at "BLOWN",,,,but now you're talking "completed",,,,,,,,,,
I LOVE Cuda's! I would have never believed this could be saved, but there you are doing it, AWESOME! This will be a fun to watch project. Thanks for saving this one and sharing it with us!
this is how it should be done most people would look at this and say its to far gone or not worth it, but this man looked beyond the surface to see its actually worth saving and it can be saved love it FAM!
This is the most insane restoration I’ve ever seen. You go man!
This is inspiring…I felt like I was wasting my time on my 69 Road Runner…It’s no AAR Cuda but the metal work is about 10% of this repair if that…awesome, can’t wait for the next video. Thanks
Man that is one ambitious project. A bit like grand dad's old axe, it's had 3 new heads & 7 new handles!! Good on you for giving it a new life, can't wait to see it progress.
This is going to be one of the most impressive restorations I think I’ll ever have seen!
I can't wait to see how this comes out! The amount of patience to even attempt something like this, just wow! BADASS!
Can not belive the job you took on . You have guts!
The best cars ever made IMO the 1970 AAR Cuda and 1970 T/A Challenger were in a league of there own. Big props for bringing this one back can not wait to see the car finished. Mark of Graveyard Carz is the man to ask if you have any question he is the master of the Mopars.
WOW! This resto is like rebuilding a car from scratch and using some rusted parts as templates. Much respect man. Unbelievable. Just goes to shoe with the right guy and a lot of perseverance anything can be accomplished.
i wonder if it'll look like it's going down the road side ways......
This is the type of car i would never buy after the restoration and later after the purchase find out the history of it. But as a mopar guy glad to see you take on such a big project.
You meant to say don't* want to buy and later find out it's history.
Well you have my full attention! I am going to follow this whole build! This will be one of the greatest come backs if you pul this off! Good luck sir!
I like the way you condensed all that work into 22 minutes. Sometimes I don't have an hour and a half to devote to a video. Great job, looking forward to seeing it completed.
Thank you for giving all other rotting relics hope. And instilling motivation for others to follow in your footsteps.
Going to enjoy following this build can’t wait to see it looking awesome again
I went through the same thing with my 69 yenko nova big block car. It had rolled off the roof of a parking garage in 71 and the owner let it sit for years until I seen it and asked if I could buy it. I rebuilt it in 86. Long before the internet so I had to search for the parts and drive many miles to get pieces, I used all new parts. Not a single used piece went on it , I guess that's why it still wins at car shows all the time, I wouldn't trade it for 2 of anything , I drive it every day and lay rubber in all 4 gears. I brought it back to life and keep it alive and it truly keeps me alive also , every time I jam a gear and dump the clutch and smoke rolls outta both rear fender wells I laugh like a crazy person cause it makes me feel 16 every time, the 427 still purrs like a kitten
AAR cudas, around 2700 made.. Yenko Nova like 38 made... your Yenko completely worth restoring in this condition.. that AAR.. someone should cut the tail panel off for a wall hanging and scrap the rest.
@@goldenhippie6352 I didn't know they only made that few yenko novas. I never looked it up, i know the 427 has more than enough power, even when I try to drive normal it spins tires, I always liked the 69 nova better than the other years , I have the air shocks pumped up all the way and the 12 inch cragers on the back with mt 50,s and it still spins every time I take off lol. I love the old cragers that's all I have ever put on it. thanks for sharing
@@coinslotsandjoysticks2572 no problem! You are one lucky man to have a Yenko Nova, been my dream car since I was a little kid.. however with them only ever making just under 40 of them that dream is slim.. the Nova was the one Yenko Don himself was afraid of and that is the reason the production numbers were so low.. it scared him to put that car into the hands of the public.
@@coinslotsandjoysticks2572 , yes it's actually probably not something a person would want to beat on and use as a daily driver. Just saying......
Why on earth would you drive a yenko nova like that
Mad respect for what you are doing! Enjoying this build so far, just watched part 2. Coming together!
You're a rock star for saving this car. Don't give up until it's done.
You have my undying respect for taking on such a huge challenge. I'll be watching this one with great interest.
EXCELLENT!!! Can’t wait to see this restoration series progress! You’ll do it no problem, but it if you get stuck, we’re here to help!
Keep the great stuff coming!
Thanks & God Bless
😎
My husband and I enjoy watching your channel! We looked at this cuda awhile back and we are watching it again, just noticed the rat that ran out on the left under the door. Enjoy listening to you and watching you do a great job!
as a younger man i lived for stuff like this! i hope you continue on with this resto and add longer vids.
I could watch you all day! I wish l had your abilities. Just amazing, keep up the good work!
Oh heck yeah! Great to see some restoration work, especially on such a rare car
My brother and I just started restoring a 1971 Maverick Grabber in about the same condition as yours. Our Maverick had 43000 original miles on it. The car was bought and made in to a drag car with the original 302 engine. It was rolled a couple of times and had many parts stolen out of it that were still good. The Maverick laid in the wood ever sense 1977 until 2023.
If it weren't for folks like you this world would barely have any of these classics left. Great job 👍🏻
In my experience with cars this mangled, you pull the car to square first, then start cutting.
Pretty monumental task you have ahead. Good luck. Beautiful car to save.
It sure makes getting new stuff to fit. But I have only done auto body for 46 years so still learning
@@boblister665 not quite 46 for me, but over 30. It’s how I was taught and it works out pretty good for me.
This video motivated me to keep pushing my self to finished my Honda.
Dude! I do collision work for a living. This is an insane task to take on. Mad props to you. Look forward to future videos. Your doing good man. 👍
Wow! This is a BIG undertaking! I’m so keen to see this resto
This is even worse than the bullet ridden car that “Pole Barn Garage” channel made driveable!
Love it!
"She ain't that rough" 😂 this is incredibly impressive, I am looking forward to more
Love your videos and this looks like the best yet. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. Kudos to you 🥇
This is just incredible, I could not see how that car could be fixed up! You have some serious talent sir!
Can't wait for the next video, looking better than it started out for sure 👍
your drive and determination are second to none, and if you pull this off, then your car will be the envy of your neighbors..well im going to watch part two now.
Phenomenal job dude! Too funny “She ain’t that rough”
I like the direction you are going, I really thought you were joking but it’s coming along great!
you're a magical man, who makes people happy
Dude! That’s insane! But I’m definitely looking forward where you’re going with this one! Good luck!
This guy done miracles for what little he has. Keep going.
I really like the restorations. I will be glad to watch all of them you wish to put out.
This is looking like it'll be quite the challenge. Excited to see what comes of it.
I'd wager the PREVIOUS OWNER was happy to see it GO!!!
You are one of a kind! You must really love that piece of rust!
Wow, this is ambitious, I honestly wouldn't even think someone would try rebuild that mess. Love a Cuda. Can't wait to see how she come along.
Brother , you're a legend for attempting a resto like this. I'm looking forward to watching how this goes 👍🏻👍🏻
I thought you were kidding. I was waiting for a punch line for the first 5 minutes, but no, you jumped right it with both feet and got it looking a whole lot better right away. That's extremely cool. A whole bunch of visible progress in a short time.
The next question is, can you sustain that enthusiasm all the way to the end? You'll have an amazing car if you can stay fired up. So far so good.
Kudos for saving such a car, amazing work.
Well, I guess since the car pre-dates safety, you don't really need ear and eye protective equipment now, do ya? LOL
OH, I found your rat at 5:20 running under the driver's door frame.
Man you have lots of guts, and a crazy clear vision
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! ....I LOVE SEEING ROUGH CARS GET SAVED!! ....THANK YOU! .....CAN'T WAIT FOR PART II
This is awesome! So glad you're saving it. Reminds me of the Chris Birdsong feller restoring Chargers and whatnot. Looks like you're really making a silk purse out of her there.
Someone still had a title to that!?!? This is on the level of a job that Chris aka Junkerup would take on. If you are going to try to resurrect a car, this is at least a good one to invest time in. 👍
Rust Bucket Restos started with a Charger not much better than this. He too basically saved a firewall and a VIN tag. We won't even mention DIY Gang's burned out Challenger.
As long as the VIN plate doesn't rust & fall off, then I guess it's still considered a car.
As long as you have a VIN and a bill of sale you can register it
@@brandoncropper1259 Nope, not in a lot of states. Indiana isn't even terribly picky, but you do have to have a clear title, or go through a fairly annoying process to get one. Some states supposedly make it almost impossible. Georgia and a few others are exceptions.
@@FMChimera you can register it in Vermont and transfer the reg cause that’s your title
WOW 👏🏼 COOL THANK YOU FOR RESTORING HER. SHE'S MY ALL TIME GREATEST CAR EVER MADE!💯👍🏻✌🏼
Fantastic project man starting with their Bare Bones you're doing a great job can't wait to see more videos
I thought my 1960 cj5 was rough. Seeing you rebuilding this reinforces my belief I can restore my CJ. Just takes time.
Wow, at the start of the video that was looking to be a daunting and very ambitious project, but you have broken (literally) the steps down into manageable tasks and actually welding in new metal shows that the car can be repaired, looking forward to seeing progress, well done!
At 5.15, rat is visible in the bulkhead moving, at 5.20 jumped down onto floor, where did he go? Hopefully, cleared off and did not take up residence in the garage...!
Greetings from the UK!
So nice to save an oldie, especially one that was mangled...great job!
Wow, this is doing gods work my friend! Amazing. Too bad more people didn't have the ambition to save stuff like this, seriously, they're not making anything like this anymore. They all deserve to be saved...lest our roads will be filled with a sea of generic grey/black/white plastic clown car lookin' JUNK.
AWESOME !! Literally a 'Back from the Dead' restoration. Cant wait to see the journey of this cars second coming. (Hello from Australia btw).
Hey I love your videos and I'm excited for what this would become!! ❤️❤️
Hero's don't always use capes & you sir are my new HERO !!! new to the channel will be seeing the 1974 chevy K10 next I have a 79 wish you lived where I live again sir you the man.
Rat at 5:20!
HAHAHHAA you got quite the eye!
Look like it was in panic mode.
I’m restoring a 1927 Model T touring car that had a barn fall down around it. It belonged to my great grandfather and I have a picture of him with it new when he was 19 years old. May not be worth much to anyone else but to me it’s priceless.
I’ve been following this demo/build on TikTok, but I think the YT format has much more payoff! Getting to watch you actually work vs just getting the narrative is awesome! I was one of the skeptical ones, but you never cease to amaze! Love that you have all the vision and heart to stick though it! I think you could use some more tools to up your productivity… but you made a fan outta me regardless! 🔥🔥🔥
My junior year of HS, I bought my first MOPAR, a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Magnum. Upon graduation, I had a buddy selling his 1970 R/T Dodge Challenger 383. I sold my Dart and bought the Challenger. I have to say, the Challenger was my dream car and I actually owned one and only 19 years old. Then the friend I bought my Challenger from brought a guy over that wanted a Challenger and had a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner 440 magnum. I really like the Roadrunner as well and we did a straight across trade. Well, I got divorced my senior year of college and I joined the Navy. Left my car at home while doing basic and BEEP. Came home and found out that my ex had sold my car. I do not, to this day, know how she managed that. Now I can’t even find one to buy…want to do a light restoration myself but, you are fortunate in getting this car…even in it’s current state and whomever destroyed this car, needs to be beaten within 1” of his or her life. They have no respect for something that is! Shooting a MOPAR muscle car…f*ck that! 😡 will be watching the videos to see the end product. 🤙🤙🤙
Honestly would like to see this be rebuilt. Looks like a challenge
We wont ever see this with wheels on it again, but I love the content this guy puts out.
Looks like a Challenge-r lol
You're a brave soul mate.
Good luck with the restoration.
At 5:15 you can see a rat Jump out of something on that hole in the dash right before he got cooked by that torch then he runs away at 5:20 lol
One of the coolest cars ever made! I am amazed how much progress you have made already! Hitting subscribe. I dont want to miss this!
I think the AAR's came with 340's with 3X2 barrel carbs.
I hope your restoration goes well.
She is/was a real pretty, blue color.

The best first episode of doing such a massive resto i've personally ever seen. No yacking on forever and a day just a short intro to the problem child and then BOOM! let's get into it. Hooked can't wait to see the end result mate. Blessings from Shropshire England.
I thought that my Chevy K20 was a big job but dang, you’re building a whole car! I’m going to love watching this
Man you've taken on a massive job I like your enthusiasm
Has anyone else seen the rat running away from the car?
It's not a joke . People like yourself are needed badly to rebuild history such as that coda. They are one of the nicest cars Plymouth built. Great job . I rebuilt a 1970 Chevelle not in as bad conditions as the cuda . I turned it in to a 1980's hot rod.
I honestly did think it might be a joke, but you actually made some headway and I have faith in the project. If this can be restored, maybe my marriage can be too.
That’s such a special car and I absolutely can’t wait to see it finished, amazing work going on there.
I LOVE that type of job. Just adore it. Save it, fix it, take care of it.
Wow, respect to this guy and any of you out there who goes near a project anywhere close to this. I also like how this guy is a total "safety third" type,.. didn't think he was going to use a helmet when he rocked that welder.
Absolutely next level, this guy's gonna be known for this and I'm all here for it; It's like an artist I don't even know how you can see where anything's supposed to go with the state of that thing.
I think i saw one good washer that you could start from. I admire your enthusiasm.
Outstanding! It's great to see this car brought back!
Nice to see another one saved, Especially an aar! Ton of work, good luck!
The first 30 seconds I honestly thought it was all said sarcastically.
Really cool as I always wanted to see an actual wreck restoration.
Hey man thanks for being the guy that saved that car! Together with enough cutting discs and argon we can save them!
