    These 4 cylinders have a ect power button by the 4 wheel drive button that boosts power by shifting faster and keeping the rpms higher for merging, towing, hauling ass, ect🤙 It’s awesome on my 2019. Should be standard but not sure why he didn’t mention it as it makes the truck way more fun to me. Good video!

      Hi, do you know if these newer model Tacoma 4 cylinders have good reliability? I had the newer SR5 6 and it was ok, but had some gremlins. I've heard the 4 cylinder is bulletproof, but wanted to ask a actual owner. How's the acceleration on it, acceptable? Thanks for any information appreciate it

      @@nocturnalme3549 I may be late to your question but I bought a new ‘14 double cab pre-runner with the 2.7L and 4spd. Auto. We’re talking 159 hp and 180 lb. Ft. of torque. That being said I believe the engine/transmission is impressive in terms of performance in comparison to the 4cyl powered trucks of the 90’s/early 2000’s. Fuel mileage is mediocre. Put it this way if you want a bulletproof engine that is capable of everyday use (I pull a 17’ bass boat) and you can ignore the engine straining more than a more powerful truck then the 2.7L is a great engine. If you want loads of power and a refined engine look elsewhere.

    I've had 1 Tacoma, and 2 earlier Toyota trucks all with 4 cylinders, and manual transmissions. In Feb. I am taking delivery of a 2022 SX, but I got it with a V6. The little 4 cyl. just didn't have the response at the gas pedal with the automatic tranny, and the larger engine surpasses my prior experiences. I would have got the stick shift if I could have, unfortunately, people today are not driving enthusiasts, and prefer the convenience. With a manual transmission and an experienced driver, you can get better gas mileage, save wear on brakes, use engine compression to navigate ice more effectively, not to mention, they are way more rugged.

    • @thinkkops853
      @thinkkops853 4 года назад +2

      Rotor brakes are alot cheaper to maintain, easier to diy, and slow down the car better and more efficiently, but in most cases rear drums last longer than the front because most of the braking is done from the front, 4 wheel drums wouldn’t be so pretty, you’ll be changing them more often than front brake discs.

    Actually the torque is at 3800 RPM which is not a rpm your usually at. Meaning your not going to be releasing the clutch at 3800 RPM. So, most of the time that 180 pounds of torque wont be there. I know I have a Tacoma 2.7 I bought it new. I don't have enough torque starting but it can take off on the highway in the right conditions.

    So im about to buy a Tacoma and i was wondering which is more reliable The 2.7 4l or 3.5 V6. I know that the early Toyota pickups 1985-1994 that had the 3.0 V6 seemed to have some head gasket problems and other shit while the 22re was an absolute reliable monster but seriously lacked power. Then the next generation idk much about but i was told the V6 was better than the 4cl. My friend tanner has a 2001 Toyota Camry with a V6 and it has 540k with zero issues never had to replace anything besides the alternator twice and a very batterys. So idk which one is better in the long run i dont really haul anything besides putting a 4 wheeler in the bed. My 2.3L ranger can carry it so why not a new 2.7L? So just wondering which one do yall think is gonna reach 300k or more?

    • @elitetr1nity617
      @elitetr1nity617 4 года назад +7

      Maximum Zelk
      The 4 cylinder will outlast the v6 because it has less moving parts, so less friction to wear down components, and it also has a cast iron engine block, compared to the v6’s cast aluminum block.
      I see you’ve owned a ranger 2.3, so you’re used to merging on the highway with little power, and you also mentioned that you don’t tow at all. So in short, I’d recommend the 4 cylinder over the v6. Do yourself a favor: TEST DRIVE THE V6 AND THE 2.7 BEFORE YOU BUY IT, so you don’t regret it later.

      I'm not sure of the reliability of the v6, but the 2.7 that has been in the Tacoma from 2005 to current is pretty much bulletproof. I have been involved in a fleet of of over 30 2.7 tacomas and over about 3 million combined miles and have never seen any engine problems.

    • @scottt7400
      @scottt7400 2 года назад +1

      The 4 cylinder is pretty much bullet proof (I have owned the 2.7l for the last 10 years, and 1 22R, and 1 22RE a total of 25 years before), and that is a pure proven fact, The 3.5 V6 has been refined since first introduced to the Tacoma, and is considered very reliable. Fact is, I am taking delivery of a new 2022 SX in February, and I chose the V6, because the 2.,7l + auto tranny didn't match the response at the foot pedal that any of my 3 prior Toy trucks did with the manual shift.

    As much as I love toyota 4cylinder engines 22re, etc I wouldn't buy this truck in a 4 cylinder. The v6 gets as good gas mileage and also you have to factor in resale value. I had many 4cylinder toyota trucks and on road trips tackling hills it can be stressful. I think the SR with a v6 is a better option.

I always felt the 4spd trans mine had was a poor choice for the 4cly but the 6spd should be a good improvement and I think the new model may be able acheve 23MPG. The Taco 4 is good if you only drive down hills and never go up hills and you have a 60 mph tailwind. ZERO power. If you drive like a 95 year old granny it might be OK. As you can tell I have no patience for engines not properly matched to the vehicles.

      Last year for the 5 speed manual with a 4cyl was 2017. I have a 2017 4wd 4cyl with the 5 speed manual. It's a great truck!
