Just ordered the S12 as it was down to £128 on Amazon, plus I had vouchers so it was a bargain at £58. I was debating between the Shot Scope v3 and the S12 - it was the battery life and looks that won me over. I use gamebook on my phone to track score, so I don't care about some of the more advanced features. I used Hole19 on my iPhone and Apple Watch, but the pay wall annoyed me AND it absolutely kills my watch battery, no chance I could get 36 holes played without my phone and watch dying.
Nice review. I would disagree with a couple thoughts though. I have apple watch and have yet to find an app that is less than 3-5 yrds off in accuracy. I do own a series 4 though, so maybe the series 5 or 6 has a more accurate gps? The movable flag feature to wherever you want i think is huge. We have a par 3 that is oddly shaped. Hitting 5 yrds left of center is literally 10 yards longer just to hit green. Hitting 5 yards right is 5-6 yards shorter. Moving flag to wherever allows to put right on edge and see that true carry distance. I use and love my range finder but we all know they can be tricky at times to get pinpoint, even on flag. Am i really on front edge of green or did it read when the wind blew? Am i really on flag or that one tiny branch in the back ground? I find i take 3-4 readings every time to feel confident its dead on on most uses. I would love the Nikon stabilized range finder, but you gotta be locco to spend $499 US when thats all it does. Overall great vid though.
Thanks for watching and sharing Fuzzy, really appreciate it! I used to pay for the GolfShot GPS app for my series 2 iWatch. I've now got a series 6, so planning on doing a comparison video. For a beginner/mid-handicap golfer, there's an argument 3-5 yards off is acceptable if it means you save a good amount of money. For the moveable flag, personally I don use it, the way I play, I either aim for the front, middle or back yardage. I know I'm not good enough to need to dial in those yardages to the exact location to the flag....but I can see why golfers would like the feature.
@@GolfGuyReviews Yes indeed, good, valid points. Tech isnt cheap anymore is it? I do want that 1 yrd accuracy whether i can hit it or not. 😂😂. I do find most times i can get pretty darn close. So much of it comes down to stopping the ball i believe. A few yrs ago i played like you where i just wanted to know front of green so i could bounce it up there. Now i have improved to a single digit and that doesnt work anymore cause the ball stops or even backs up. I also just upgraded to the Ping I525’s so my apex just got even better. If i hit it 125 instead of 130 i have long putts and bogeys all day. Thanks for the reply and hit em straight. Look forward to your watch comparison. Guessing the 6 will be much more accurate. Give Golf Pad app a look. It was my favorite. Cheers!! ✌️
Thanks Kevin i currently have a S42 but always use it in conjunction with my rangefinder as some holes can be upto 10 yards different which is essentially another club. In hindsight knowing what i now know i would not of bought the S42 as its not always reliable on every hole at my course.
I just noticed that the actual screen on the S12 is square, just like my S20 and with identical functionality and buttons. Hmmm, kinda looks like they took the S20 guts and stuck it in a round case.
Thanks for watching. I’ve not tried the S20 so I can’t speak from experience… My guess would be the s12 does have some additional features or potential connectivity which makes it a better watch…but if your S20 works fine and you’re happy with it, I don’t think I’d recommend making an upgrade 👍
Have had a few rounds with the S62 now….full review coming out soon. After using all three, my current view is the S62 is a total luxury. And while it is the best watch with the additional features, I didn’t feel the personal caddy, full course layout and flag locator (when you can’t see it) brought enough to my golf game to justify the cost, and personally I’d save my money and buy the S12, especially if you already have an Apple Watch like I do. I think spending the extra money on lessons will save me more shots in the long run. That said, if you want those extra features….well you’re gonna have to pay for them I’m afraid 🤣 The S62 has a lot of tricks in the box, just depends if you want them all. I hope that helps 👍

@@djsmojo everyone is different, but I’m similar on the 90-95 range and I think simplicity is key right now in my game. So I went for the S12 to keep it as simple as possible as a try to improve my wedge game and putting and as I get my score down I’ll look at something a bit more complex to shave off a couple more strokes down the road.
