    I am convinced this was the writers cheekily announcing that the kids would finally start cannonically aging. Bart is moving out of the 4th grade and they really outright yell it when they say "what does it mean?!" And marge yells "its means he's gonna grow up!"

    • @user-nc2tx7ii2w
      @user-nc2tx7ii2w 7 месяцев назад +33

      Same! Imagine if Bart and Lisa canonically and permanently turn 11 and 9, respectfully. I feel like it would break the internet! lol

    • @kristenkillen
      @kristenkillen 7 месяцев назад +16

      @user-nc2tx7ii2w I know, right? The world would lose it! Lol. It really makes sense, though. With the actors all aging, it could give them an in-universe excuse as to why their voices are changing slightly. I'd imagine an older Bart and Lisa, maybe even marge for that matter, would be easier to voice if they weren't trying to sound SO young. That way the actors wouldn't have to be replaced! The writers could simply work the story around to fit the scenario and keep the voices we've known for decades.

    Another fantastic touch with Bart was him picking up on that Marge looked really sick where Lisa didn’t. He’s not being too cool for school, he’s still concerned about his mum.
    Even Homer’s comedy still comes from an unselfish place, making, or trying to make, the snacks Marge had promised to make for bounce-athon. Yes it falls under something you’d never want to go near but the intention is wholesome.

    I lost my own mom recently. I always resonated Marge's character with her. So it always gives me comfort hearing her character laugh or seeing her devotion to her kids, even if she's possessed by The Pookadook, she'll always choose them and do by right by them.

    A very wholesome video about a very wholesome episode. And I have to say that bringing up the subject of Julie’s voice fits so well with Marge’s fear of Bart growing up as both are inevitable as we all grow and things do change but we can all embrace the best moments of the past, present and of course the inevitable future.

The scenes with Marge trying to be with Bart, Lisa and Maggie for the rest of the childhood, and the kids communicating back rather if Bart and Lisa are babies, and or were just younger, is really cute. It also gives us. The episode also gives us a heartfelt lesson to always hang out with our families because like what was going on with Marge, we don't want to miss anything special. Bravo and well done on making one of best episodes in recent seasons The Simpsons crew!

    And people say that the Simpsons doesn’t have any heart anymore. Brilliant job as always and it’s always nice to see you flex your talents (and looks). Speaking as someone that is very self conscious, I have a lot of respect for people that go on cam, especially if they don’t do it often (and are therefore possibly a bit uneasy doing so).
    Congrats to you and your husband on the new book! You two always put so much effort into your research for everything. Good luck on the sales and the future. Cheers.

    I do agree her voice is not the same as it was in the earlier seasons and I do worry constantly voicing Marge for years has been a big strain on her vocal cords but I guess if her voice actress still wants to do it then more power to her. The Simpsons wouldn’t be the same without her and if a day comes when she’s no longer able to voice Marge, then it’s a day The Simpsons as we know it would come to an end. Depending on if they’ve decided to go the A.I. and/or stock audio route that is.

    I kinda wish they'd do more with Mrs Peyton's personality and the way it clashes with the rest of the school staff. We saw an inkling of it in "My Octopus and a Teacher" and it's prime material for commentary on the elementary school system. I know The Simpsons got plenty of mileage about that back in the golden age, but seeing how it affects a compassionate, spirited teacher like Mrs Peyton would be interesting.

    This should have been the season opener. It's an episode that continues the strengths of the longer, character driven episodes the series evolved into the past several seasons. I think it paired quite well with that night's Bob's Burgers, another bittersweet, character driven story. One about Regular Sized Rudy and his anxieties about his father's constant parade of romantic interests he hopes takes on the role of stepmother. A good night to cry, even though I saw the Simpsons episodes a day or so later.

      It’s strong writing to have an emotionally hitting episode with the whole family without needing a B-plot. Having the whole twenty two, minus opening sequence and couch gag, to work with means more details to elevate the episode.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@jbcatz5 I hate how the turn of the millennium era was always had that thing leading to another thing leading to another thing leading to another thing that may or may not start the A-plot. Something that emphasized gags over plot. The show has been heavily invested in plot and character developments first since at least a few years ago, and I think it makes all the difference. I'd rather see story over a rapid fire gag-a-thon where they jokes land with 40% accuracy.

But I also think we shouldn't disregard others' issues that her voice just doesn't quite sound the same as it used to. Take Mr Burns, for example, it's clear his voice isn't the same as it was before, but it still fits him because he's an old man.

    I cried harder at this episode than I have at an episode since - well, maybe last season actually. But still, it was like watching 'Moaning Lisa' from Season 1 in terms of feelings. I had the same thought that this might be the best Marge episode ever. Also - gotta say I appreciate how Ms Peyton really feels like a character now. Shes got big shoes to fill, but her perfectionistic, stretched-thin version of a teacher is in some ways funnier (and more relevant to today) than someone more burned out and dejected like Mrs Krabapple. But Mrs Peyton will probably slowly become as burned out as Krabapple if the show ever makes a paradigm shift or shows her in the future.

    My main three criteria for the new simpsons is:
    1. Bad jokes, constantly built in, trying to be funny
    2. References too now-relevant topics (like baby shark)
    3. Bad storylines.
    This season did a good job at hiding it, probably the best season in over 10 years.

    the problem isn't that Julie Kavner is getting old, it's that Marge Simpson is NOT getting old, every other cartoon from the time has adjusted the character age to match the current voice actor, The Simpsons has been going for 30 years, ans the voice actors havent changed and while the cartoon is technically indefinite the voices are not

    I was really surprised by how good this episode was as it truly felt like a classic Simpsons story that feels both comedically and visually creative, but also narratively endearing and wholesome on a very relatable struggle for a lot of parents and people and in general, not to mention we get to explore Marge's relationship with Bart since we dont get a lot of them together. The ending honestly had me a little teary eyed and Julia did a wonderful job. This is definitely one of the best recent episodes and Season 35 is really starting strong.
