- The Lee Roy Selmon Expressway extension project has received approval from the Board of County Commissioners to initiate the planning process. The $1.8 billion project, which will be funded by toll revenue, aims to extend the Selmon Expressway by 10 miles. The extension will start from its current eastern end in Brandon and stretch down to Big Bend Road in Riverview. This significant infrastructure development is expected to greatly reduce commuting time, with drivers saving at least 30 minutes on their daily commutes.
