      I agree. I can't agree with morals... But they live else were in the world, where serious crime is in it's strife and they don't have the money for prisons or, upkeep of prisoners lives. They believe its better to eradicate criminals. There are many coins to the way people want to deal with criminals... End of the day, its not really working for the western country as we are spending a lot of money on prisons and up keep of them... It just depends what crimes you're dealing with. Always expected to be armed, or more of the drunken driver, and substance abuse user?? how'd you react?

At one point they started getting bricks and cinder blocks. Didn't see the end. Have to assume the cinder blocks didn't leave them in a healthy condition though. I should clarify that police were not involved. But to think of it, I only ever saw 1 police officer in my time living there (over a year, in the capital city, Kabwe) but there were quite a few soldiers who would kind of patrol. Although they were armed with AK-47s (Not loaded though, obvious because they usually didn't even have a magazine in it) they would often beat criminals.

    Johannesburg had one of the highest murder rates in the world when this was filmed. Drugs, guns and stolen property, hardly any police, who were also poorly trained. The government did not provide proper policing, funding or training. As a result, you get unprofessional police units like this, who are made up of a few poorly trained locals and led by an old school chief who has never been held to account for his actions. But ultimately at the end of the day, these 'police' officers are still taking criminals off the streets and punishing them. That cell phone thief got some lashes which will leave superficial wounds. It's not professional at all, but it isn't like they shot him or killed him. Hopefully he learns his lesson from the beating. Someone has to be law and order in that place, and thanks to the South African government, it's these guys...

      Alexandre de Boucherville I advise you to read wide and wild before making such generalized comments. have travelled Africa and a lot of African countries have strong rule of law... Am a Kenyan and I can tell you for sure nothing like this law of the jungle can be tolerated... our law for example if you are caught even in the act, you are still considered innocent and they will arrest you and MUST arraign you in court within 24hrs and u even get bond immediately

    • @alexandredeboucherville9677
      @alexandredeboucherville9677 8 лет назад +2

      I have met and have had a lot of dealings with Kenyans. And although you have a point I stand by the reported facts(Google crime census). Even in Kenya there are places where criminal element terrorise communities as there are no countries without crime. By what I said I was referencing to a global report 2015 2016 based on a wide spread crime found in "third world counties"(Developing countries) ,and by last resort (Great community frustration) judgement by unconstitutional means better known as vigilantism is dealt out albeit not reported vigilantes are incaserated. Which is evidence of vigilantism happening.
