According to what is written in journal 3 the effect of the potion wears off after some time. That and considering the fact that we never saw them doing anything romantic after this episode leads me to believe that they eventually broke up after the magic stopped working.
Nah they’re still together by the end. The love potion does wear off quickly, but they stayed together because they did actually have feelings for each other, they were just both too much of an asshole to make the first move on each other.
Actually, in the episode where Stan ran for mayor, when he went to get lightbulbs in the morning, they were standing behind him in line with Robbie's arm around Tambry.
He mentions this kinda comment in the video lol.
Congratulations! You commented before finishing the video!

The storyboard of that is a lot of fun, too.
Interesting that you brought up cupid here because in Greek mythology, Eros, or cupid, was not a good guy. He went around toying with people's hearts basically for the sake of creating drama because he thought it was funny. He could also be extremely vindictive at times, like what happened with Apollo and Daphne.
Then karma got him and he fell in love with psyche

The best part is that it's canon
@@rimfire8217 It wasn't in Gravity Falls but it was a background easter egg in the Owl House!
@@rimfire8217 It doesn't have to be if the creators gave us enough clues ffs
@@rimfire8217 it was in extra material of gf and then directly referenced in owl house, so I think it's canon lol
@@rimfire8217 Stan confirms it in the Journal and a recording so yes, it is.
I think the obvious solution to keep the "don't mess with people's lives" was simple; Mabel should have told them what she'd done, and let them decide if they wanted to use the anti-potion. That way she really is giving the power back to them, instead of making another executive decision.
Expect for the fact they would have still been under the effects and belived they were in love so why would they chose the anti potion?
Basically they judgement is impaired while under the potions effects so removing it is the only way to get an honest answer
While I typically agree with the belief that if something isn’t in the show itself it shouldn’t really be considered I don’t really think that applies to Gravity Falls just because of how many clues and mysteries from the show were specifically tied to the journals, hell there was a whole ARG!
Shows tend to follow a "bible" as a means of a guideline to write out events and relationships.
On or off the books, i don't recall Robby or Tambry having any sway over the story or the main characters after this. It felt like this was the "Free Space" on a chaotically managed Monopoly board, where they could have done whatever with 'em. It barely even affected Mabel.
As an artist, I feel that any material outside the "main" is still canon as long as it has either been made or endorsed by the official creators unless it is explicitly stated to be non-canon. Stories can present themselves in a variety of ways and may utilize multiple mediums for the purpose of worldbuilding. This idea that stories should only stick to one medium feels narrow-minded as it severely limits creativity and discourages actively thinking about how the media was meant to be enjoyed by basically encouraging fans to be lazy in consuming a show.
Though I do get that it feels kinda slimy to have fans pay to correct a loophole the showrunners created, as this extra lore could easily have been presented in a different format where fans wouldn't need to pay by default but could buy a physical copy or wait to get an official process book if they really wanted to pay to show additional support.
Additionally, that snippet in the book about the love potion comes off to me more as damage control because of how clumsily handled the plotline was in the show. That book wouldn't have been all that necessary if this was properly addressed in the show to begin with.
That doesn't change the fact that the material in it is canon if it's endorsed by the show's creators regardless of how anyone else wants to spin it. It's not up to fans to decide what constitutes as canon and what doesn't. Only the creator has that right.
@Paige Mosher to be fair it’s not like that’s all that was in the book, it was one small thing in a book that contained way more important information and mysteries
Not to mention, it seems like Alex Hirsch had a lot more freedom in the books and other outside material
Mabel: but he looks happy.
Yes he says he looks happy because he's basically under mind control anything he says is under bias effects
Given how Mabel and her stories are written throughout the series, the moral ambiguity of this episode doesn't even surprise me.
Alex Hirsh just can't write female characters
@@KaminoKatie *coughs* wendy
@@KaminoKatie I think it has to do with favoritism, Mabel was based off his sister after all
@@KaminoKatie I disagree a lot?? I like most of the girl characters??? Mabel’s immature and short sighted on purpose- characters are allowed to have flaws and skewed morals that prove impactful to others. That doesn’t mean that he “can’t write girls”
@@starsgambit412 there werent many recurring girl characters, just pacifica. The rest were side characters that didnt have own arcs or anything, they were just there for goofs and laughs
I really wanted it to end with Mabel using the antidote on them, some kind of visual effect confirming that it did indeed work, but have Robbie and Tambrie continue dating regardless. But honestly, there are a billion solutions and the writers only needed to pick one and fit it into the episode.
Its really strange they let them stay together "because they were happier that way" but when Robbie brainwashed Wendy she seemed happy too. Should Dipper have left her alone because she would've been happier? Is it only because they're both under a spell it makes it ok to the writers?
It's because it's Mabel doing it, and "we can't make Mabel look bad in an episode about her learning a lesson", they could have just had her apologize or realize her mistake and taking the L, but no. Since she has to learn the lesson, she needs to be the one to call quits, not Dipper or anyone around her. The right thing though would have to be Mabel hesitate and try to keep them together, but have Dipper take the spray from her and do it himself, and then let Robbie and Tambry be angry at Mabel, yet still wanting to go on another date. And then have Mabel learn her lesson, say she was wrong, but be content with the satisfaction that they are still willing to give it a chance. It was just so easy.
You pass the message that it is wrong to drug people into liking each other, keep it consistent with the previous episode when that happened, have the both of the characters who done it take the karma for it, and still make sure Mabel learns the lesson and even still have her gain from this situation by seeing that they want to date without the potion.
Dipper was specifically called out as an asshole in that scenario too though, Robbie shot his shot with someone Dipper had no chance with and then he spent a significant amount of time trying to find something to ruin their relationship so he could get with Wendy, and then he immediately tries the second she's done with Robbie. I believe it's also confirmed by Alex Hirsch that what Wendy said in the episode is the case in that she just appreciated that he made something for her and wasn't actually mind-controlled because that shit doesn't work
As the other commenter said, yes. Dipper should have left Wendy alone, this has been directly stated by the creator of the show.
The point of this episode was that mabel messed with people's lives and caused a bunch of problems, having the "solution" to the episode be to mess with those people even more just for there own selfish desires WOULD be hypocrisy which is why the show didn't do that.
Mabel made a mistake that can't be undone, trying to counteract it with an anti-love potion would've likely just made things even worse and it wasn't her choice to make.
Why do people genuinely seem to believe that this episode Should've sent the message that messing with people's lives is EVER the right thing to do? The solution cannot be to just repeat the exact same thing that caused the problem in the first place!
Don't get me wrong this episodes still not the best, and mabel definitely did something wrong. But alot of people seem to blind hate it without actually considering what it's trying to say!
A similar problem to this occurred in the boyz crazy episode. After finding out Robbie was hypnotizing Wendy to do what he wanted, Dipper does the right thing and exposes him. But after the fact he acts like he was being selfish and shouldn't have interfered with Wendy's personal life. Like yeah it was a bit insensitive of him to ask Wendy to hang out right then while she was emotional, but he still saved her from a manipulative douche. It'd be understandable if Dipper was more "mwahaha now I can be the shoulder for wendy to cry on" or pushy or smth but he rlly did nothing wrong yet reacted like he did. Grunkle Stan acknowledges that he "tried to do the right thing" but also shames him for "destroying a relationship" and "ruining Wendy's day". Like c'mon.
iirc alex hirsch said that's his least fav episode bc the actual idea of that plot didn't turn out right; the idea was supposed to be that the CD did have a backwards message but didn't have any hypnotic qualities, and dipper's own paranoia/desire to get wendy single made him jump to conclusions. Wendy only dumped Robbie bc he lied to her. But it rlly didn't come through in the episode. That would've actually been an interesting story abt how Dipper's jealousy made him assume supernatural forces were at work, if they'd made it more ambiguous and again had dipper more pushy abt getting wendy to dump robbie.
That’s what I thought when I watched the episode. She dumped him for lying. I never thought the CD actually mind controlled her.
@@brickabang she did specify her reason for dumping robbie was bc he lied. but the episode never debunked the CD's hypnosis as it was intended to. ig it can be argued it never concretely proved it either, but again it was left too vague

I lost it when you put that reference there, great job and hobing for a sarcastic summary of TOH
I swear half of gravity falls was Mabel doing things and facing no consequences
Now I'm curious; has a Hate Potion ever been used in media as the inverse of a Love Potion? Like a character wants to manufacture conflict between two others, for presumably selfish reasons, so they dose them with a hate potion.
A good example for this would be the mind stone in avengers when they Tony and Bruce are working on it with the other avengers
everyone slowly starts getting more and more aggressive with each other until Bruce grabs it without realising and we find out it was messing with their heads
Not really a potion but similar enough I think it was worth mentioning
@@MugiwaraZero That's a decent example. I was thinking of something done with more overtly selfish intent, like how Love Potions are often used, but your example isn't bad.
HIM from the Power Puff Girls made the whole town hate PPG in one episode
American Dragon had an episode where some sort of love effect would cause hate if the person was already in love.
There was a Ranma1/2 Chapter/Episode that did this. Shampoo became repulsed by Ranma through some means.... and then it hurt Ranma's pride for some reason and had him try to court her.
What’s kind of ironic about this episode is I don’t remember the fandom caring much about this ship, there was actually more fanart of Robbie x Mabel of all things. Which depending how you feel about the logistics of Dipper x Wendy (because same age difference) was still just all kinds of weird lol

I never really thought this episode was that problematic for one reason - I always assumed the love potion wore off in the final moments. And Robbie and Tambry realized that they had a thing for each other all along. Cuz I'm a sap :P.

It's also confirmed in the 3rd book stuff to be short lived, so yeah their relationship start was potion-done, but the rest was all them.

honestly I think the easy way out is just... mabel sprays them, they assume it's a prank, and they leave together.
literally nothing else was needed, they did the thing to end the potion effect. the couple is still together. and Mabel doesn't get another stamp on the "started as the best character and will end as the worst" card, which when she gets ten stamps comes with a free sundae and apocalypse

Mabel does some pretty morally questionable/wrong things through out the show and sometimes she does it with good intentions but still it's very messed up
Road to hell is paved with good intentions.
And she never learns her lesson!
Mabel is always right, especially when she's wrong.
@@WobblesandBean disagree!
According to Mabel's entry on Journal 3, the Love Potion effect wears off after 3 hours, If it's true love, it stays on
So it's kind of just a nudge rather than a push
Part of the problem imo was that the end of the episode became about dipper wanting to split them up for selfish reasons, and the show cared more about setting dipper straight than making Mabel fix her mistake
Selfish reasons? Wanting to undo roofying strangers isn't selfish, if anything is correcting a big mistake.
@@dracoangelrojo That's not the reason Dipper wanted to do that, that's the viewer's reason. Dipper wanted to undrug them just so the friend group would get back together.
@@carlosx8603 No, Dipper told Mabel to stop minding her nose into other people's lives and she ignored him, and did exactly that and even drugged Robbie and Tambry, not only taking away their will, but also wrecking their friend group. I'm sorry but no, that's not being selfish on Dipper's part, he has every right to be mad at Mabel for it because she has zero respect for other people's free will and how her actions affect and hurt other people, in this case everyone else's feelings. She litterally roofied a couple of teenagers against their will and without their knowledge and broke an entire friend group just to prove she was a good matchmaker. If anyone is being selfish in here, it's Mabel.
I don’t want to dig up old arguments but I feel like if it had been Dipper that used the potion it would have been taken way more seriously and the whole point of the episode would be him learning a lesson but because it was Mabel she was automatically forgiven

Yeah this wasn't the best episode but in the book written after the show it days it wears off in a couple hours so but yeah still wrong
I could've swore they mention in-episode that the potion wore off (not that it justifies it, anyway), but I could be mistaken?
+It gave us one of the best jokes in the show (I heart kids).
I feel like they just added that in later to make it seem not as bad. Still messed up though
I’m very glad you addressed this. Gravity Falls is an excellent show, but this episode has always rubbed me the wrong way.
3:13 calling robbie “more likable Lars” is the most accurate thing ever omg
If you think about it, that means that Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel treats love potion in a morally better way. Meaning that Mabel's views about love potions are closer to Valentino's view than Asmodeus's.🙃
Even without reading the book, i made the leap for the sake of the consequences without it. Love potion episodes that have a long-term impact on the show (such as making a canon -ship) MUST ALWAYS come with some sort of temporary clause. Either the potion wears off, or something dispels the potion effects.
This made me realize how f'd up love potions are. Surprised I didn't realize earlier.
I love how Mabel wears a rainbow sweater in an episode about love
Love Potions were always my worst nightmare as a kid because I'm ace. The thought of having everything I am taken away because of a drug terrifies me
Gravity Falls' most questionable episode is really saying something.
This episode isn't the only time Mabel does questionable things & doesn't face moral repercussions for her actions. Take the finale for example Mabel is the reason that Bill gets the time rift thing (it's been a while since I watched the show) & she forces Dipper & the world to nearly die because she wants to stay in her fantasy land with "better Dipper". She never apologies or face repercussions for her actions there.
"she forces Dipper & the world to nearly die because she wants to stay in her fantasy land with "better Dipper""
To be fair, it seems implied that she was at least partly under some kind of suggestion. It wasn't until she was "brought back" by Dipper that she noticed how off her world was. ("Has it always been this bright here?"). And afterwards they really had better things to do.
I'm gonna be real though I still don't like what the writers did with Mabel has through out the show she doesn't really learn a whole lot of lessons from her actions even when bill a literal demon calls her out and that she got some but not a lot of character development the writers still left her how she was in a bit of a toxic manner and with barely any lesson she learned.
The only time I saw a "love potion episode" work, kinda, was in Jojo part 4 where Yukako does a make-up that changes fortunes of love. But the makeup doesn't force anything, it just makes the person calls crush's attention and alters luck to create romantic moments. Of course Yukako kidnapped Koich, but she was only fully rewarded when she understood that a relationship is not about forcing someone to love you, but trust and giving as much as you get. If more "love potion episodes" were like this, would be great.
Using a charm spell on someone is the fantasy version of dosing someone's drink!

Yes, love potions ARE a very bad idea; The Amazing World of Gumball showed us just how creepy it can make people look.
However, near the end of that same episode; it's revealed that TRUE love CAN break the spell. So, I theorize that while it may LOOK as though Robbie and Tambry are still under the effects of the Love Potion; who knows if what they have IS true love?
I mean, later episodes show the two of them acting like their usual selves in public; with the only change being Robbie having an arm around Tambry's shoulders
Descendants 2 had true love break the love potion spell too!
I'm watching Gravity Falls again and it's gold.
However, I barely remember the Love God episode outside of how cool Robbie's bedroom and house look.
It also brings up the question of why so many kid shows default to "love potion" plots, but whatever.
3:12 “More likable Lars-“

Quick fixes
Love God: "PSYCH, my potion only works when I use it! I hope you learned a lesson, or something."
I kind of don't like how Mable seems to believe that she was the one responsable for Waddles and Gompers as well as Soos and Melody; Melody and Soos found each other all on their own thanks to a "Meat Cute" in the mall so Mable should not take credit for that pairing, and duct taping a goat and a pig together does not automaticly make it a "match made" it's actually kind of animal abuse but unintentional of course.
I feel like one of the few animated pieces of media that kinda explored the dark implications of it is "Strange Magic." It's not the best film, tho that's another can of worms, but it kinda does point out how creepy it is by depicting the use of the love potion as exploitative and dangerous. It's not exactly explicit about the implication and again, could've been a better film, but it doesn't entirely shy away from how the love potion trope is problematic.
This is the first time i've ever seen someone call an obviously emo kid "goth". It usually is the otherway around

Today we learned that drug trafficking is okay if customers are happy
Here’s my personal rewrite of the episode
Mabel still uses the potion on the two of them, they start acting lovey dovey, all the same things that happen in the episode. Except this time the potion wears off and Tambrie and Robbie are aware of the effects and kind of weirded out and awkward about what happened.
They’re freaked out and confused like “Were we really drugged into doing that gross couple stuff??” Which turns into them recounting everything and giggling like “I can’t believe you said that,” or “I kind of liked seeing that side of you.”
When Mabel approaches them to use the potion she could hear them saying something about the potion and wondering where it came from only for her to pop out of the bushes like “You knew the whole time?? And the potion wore off??”
Something bad turned good as they could still scold Mabel for messing with their lives but also give the relationship a shot over a few more episodes until they decide to stay together.
They’re mad at Mabel for messing with them but admit that they should be more open with each other and their feelings instead of getting caught up with the past or blocking everyone out. So basically a “You got lucky that things turned out fine for us but seriously don’t mess with people’s lives like that we were really freaked out at first.”
Ever read A Midsummer Night's Dream? Yeah, this is basically that.
Love potions work when there portrayed as the roofie they are

Whole Harry poter series: Am i joke to you?

I believe that the potion made them fall in love not stay in love.
Using another potion to rob them out of being together once it was already done wouldn't have solved anything.
other children cartoon makes you believe that once you did something bad you can just take it back as you please, but here it was simply too late to take it back, that's what's supposed to be the lesson here.
All this talk of love potion episodes just made me remember this one episode of Wizards of Waverly Place where Alex was planning on having her crush drink half of a love potion and her drinking the other half so affection would bloom or however it was they explained it, and then through wacky hijinks, she ends up drinking both halves and falls in love with herself so the rest of the episode just has her getting herself flowers and letters and gifts and the end of the episode has one of the other characters being like "Why are you still sending yourself stuff? The potion should've worn off by now" and she's all "I learned that if I want anyone to treat me right, who better to do it than me?"
Of course, I'm paraphrasing cuz it has been literal years since I saw that episode but yea, that's basically how it went. There are likely more in other shows that I cannot recall at the moment but yeah, this stuck out to me.
Wait so robbie tried to magically PG drug wendy.... Then she dumped him for it and mabel PG drugged robbie and left him that way... Yeah this is why i Dont like either of them like on a spiritual level

The potion was more of a push than anything else. They already had feelings for each other, they just didn’t do anything about it. The potion was the thing that finally made it happen.
Considering how Wendy was confirmed bisexual (more like teased bi by Alex Hirsch) after the series ended, I wonder if sth involving her with Tambry was considered at some point...
This video made me realize the entirety of starco during the entire runtime of svtfoe up until they broke the blood moon spell was just a shitty love potion trope
I love how you still did a video of this show even tho it’s dead I’m so sad
I know some people won't agree with me but I consiter Love Potion as a magical form of Date Rape. At the end of the day 2 teens had their ability to say no and make their own choices taken away from them for a handful of hours without them even knowing. No matter how well things turned out at the end of the day it still feels gross and unsettling.
uses love potion on person who hates themself to make them love themself could be interesting for a story.
Also interesting to say
It's not as easy as just undoing it, you need to have the greater part of the relationship develop outside of the potion's effect's time-frame (see Star and Marco)
Harry Potter has a brutal deconstruction of the love potion in Half-Blood Prince. Voldemort’s mother used it on his father and kept on dosing poor Tom Riddle Snr, so when she’s tired of substance enabled relationship and takes him off it no prizes for guessing who leaves her. Heartbroken Merope can’t face life anymore and leaves her son to a muggle orphanage, so guess who grows up without a loving, maternal presence in his life. The main story also casts the harsh light of day on love potions, where Dumbledore has them outright banned but students still smuggle them in. Ron accidentally drinks a long past expiry date sample meant for Harry and all he can go on about is the girl who desired Harry.
If you think of love potion as conditioning or brainwashing there’s a very interesting take on it in a mid 2010’s Green Lantern Corps storyline where Fatality had been inducted into the Star Sapphires, the lantern corps that represents love, but was conditioned to severely downplay that the subject of her affections was the guy who destroyed her home planet (more out of rookie rashness than any evil intentions). She is separated from the Star Sapphire ring and with this conditioning undone leaves him for good. It’s definitely an eye opener in the darker side of seemingly innocent emotions.
These videos drive me insane I get so happy when this white man with a silly voice uploads you slay king
Well this is just on a laundry list of things that make Mabel the worst character on Gravity Falls but that's a different subject altogether.
I think something that the show could have done differently that could have worked in naturally would be Mabel confessing to both lars and the other 1( I seriously can't remember her name) That she drugged them with a love potion and give them the bottle of anti love and say here. This is your choice now if you want to be cured or if you want to stay together it'll be your choice at this point and let them decide
That would at least give them some free will of choice even though odds are they would still choose to stay together even knowing it was a love potion effect
Mabel still be best character for me tho lol
Yeah, I remember feeling really iffy about the resolution of this episode. Really wish they didn't just leave it as it was, really uncomfortable.
Well at least, it should have been mentioned in the show that the potion was temporary
they were not drugged permanently. The potion only lasts for like 12 hours or some shit (canonically) and if it was a perfect match even without the potion, they *remain* together after the effects wear off. Regardless, they WERE still drugged, so that point definitely stands.
Okay so another fucked aspect of the episode when Robbie tried to roofy Wendy, after Dipper shows them the message in the song and Wendy questions Robbie, he immediantly says that he didnt write it, he just found it. Afterwards Wendy says that she didnt care about the message, she was upset because he lied to her about writing the song like... he tried to roofy you, and took you to a place where he was planning to make out with you without your real consent but you're not mad about that, like THAT should of been a big deal. Especially at Wendy's age. I get it's not great being lied to but that is NOT the thing you should be mad about. Like idk, when i rewatched that ep i was really annoyed that they just brushed it off, like having it in there and have it be fully addressed would be good and could a really good lesson of consent but that didnt happen, just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

I would love to see the love option trope called out and deconstructed in a more general audience show. Rick & Morty obviously did a pretty good calling out of this trope, but obviously it's not meant for young and adult audiences. It'd be refreshing to see a character try to take the easy way out in a more complex show a la Gravity Falls, Owl House, Steven Universe, etc. Maybe have the target of their affection find out that a love potion was used on them and really let the user have it for violating their consent and all the other problematic elements, and depending on what direction the show wants to take, that could either be it for the pairing, or if it's still endgame or at least on the table, make it very clear that trust between character A and B will be very strained for a long time and will really have to be earned if it can be repaired at all. Admittedly, I could see people mad at the latter idea if they take the position that a character resorting to a magic roofie is irredeemable behavior that doesn't deserve a happy romance, at least not with the character they attempted a love potion on, but I could see it working if there was proper pacing to ensure that trust and friendship repair, let alone chemistry, between the two characters was slow, with the victim having a lot of moments of not letting go of what was done to them (which they shouldn't), but leading up to a climactic correction that demonstrates the predatory character learned their lesson, and so character B chooses to forgive them. Maybe it could be actively stopping someone else from using a love option on the same character, or even a different character just because it's the right thing to do, or doing something tremendously kind for the character they still have affection for, but not bragging about it and doing it in such a way their crush would never know if not for some other circumstance, but they take the knowledge of character A doing something really sweet as an indicator they've really, honestly course corrected, and won't try to take shortcuts, even if they could try by mentioning the good thing they did for their crush, but instead won't resort to emotional leverage to attempt a sleazy speedrun of romance, thus making character B seriously consider that they've changed and might be worth giving an honest shot if they've learned to not be manipulative any more.
Pretty sure Descendants does something like this and gives the character cosquences for doing it.
@@haveagoodday7021 not really Mal gets zero consequences for what she did to Ben he just says something akin to "understandable have a nice day" the only consequences she got were her own feelings and Ben still chose to be with her
@@PizzaMadeMeFat Really? Idk I haven't sene the movie in a while so I thought it went down better than that
would've been really easy for her to undo it and then they end up actually liking each other
This whole vid I thought I was tripping being like "doesn't the love god say that it only lasts so long so that way if it's true it'll last?" But ig not that must've been an internalized fact from the book
I genuinely cannot believe this show actually decided that since two brainwashed people look happy together, it's for the best to leave it that way even if it's out of their control. My Little Pony of all shows knew better than to leave two roofied characters together because they seemed happy.
A good example of a love spell or potion is the craft, in the movie the witch made a man obsessed with her and she almost got well lets say graped due to the guy being obsessed
More questionable scenarios:
-Create own clones or life from arcade machine and then killing them
-Frame time-traveler
-Receive infinite pizza or food enlarger and ignore world hunger
-Mess another person mind from inside
-Kidnap domesticated boyband and let them free in the wild
-Start golf war
and many more.
Love potion was bad, but I don't think it have permanent effect.
Oh shoot, they "redeemed" the mind controller with mind control.
So I'm not the only one who was disturbed by that lol. I felt so bad for the dude who was crushing on Tambry.
so the book explains that the potion wears off if they weren't really in love but the show didn't explain it
Yeah I thought about this while watching the episode...
Hey, you should do relationships from comic books in the future
It would have been one thing if the antidote was used but it didn't work because Robbie and Tambry actually like each other.
While the lack of consent for Robbie/Tambry in forming their relationship is the worst thing in this episode. I also want to point out that this is also the episode where it’s revealed that the reason Wendy’s friend group are friends is because they abuse and bully Thompson for their own amusement.
Seriously what was with the writers with this episode, did they all just have an off day or something?
What if a Universal goddess created a potion named "Universal Drug Antidote" or "UDA" and creates enchanted cups that can get the original personality to realize they're drugged and choose they want to undo the effect by drinking, and give them to Robby and Tambry? If they drink them, it serves as a complete antidote from the love potion effect. They'd be able to decide to make out naturally this time or part from their relationship for good. They'd make up naturally when both rivals the twins.

I read this in the book too and I remember how sceptic I looked when I found the love potion section.
2:25 love the "Edas Ex" joke
Agreed, but, personally, I think things outside of the media in question are canon too. Especially is they're explicitly said to be. Sometimes there's little details the writers don't put into the show, but want to share anythings. Heck, sometimes there's something the producers won't LET them put into the show, so they reveal it outside of it. Even Twitter. It's a good place to reveal little things. In short, Wendy's middle name is Blerble. Sorry.
My favorite love potion story is the Chaser. Where a man goes to an alchemist and is told in great detail about a perfect, undetectable poison that kills whoever it is used on, and how it is monumentally expensive, and the second potion people buy. And then describes the love potion he was coming for, which is undetectable, incurable, exactly what the man was looking for, makes whoever it is used on fall madly, hopelessly in love... And costs only a dollar. So he buys it with well wishes for when the protagonist comes back later in life, when he is more well off...

Great video as always SC
I would argue this one is just simply more of a moral dillema. On one end, unfucking the situation is like removing your hands from the equation, but on the other, theyre happy. These two unhappy people are finally happy, with someone they're comfortable with and share similar likes and dislikes. By unfucking the situation, youre now technically shoving your hands back in the pot to make these now happy people, unhappy. Theres plenty of situations like this in reality without love potions that have the same effect too, except the bond is inherently natural.
i even had the book but i never noticed this
