    Very detailed instructional video. The only change I would make to use a 25 mm forstner bit instead of the spade bit. Thanks for sharing.

    Lovely, tidy work. I've made a few of these using the instructions that come with the crush grind kit, and your procedure is FAR superior. I was thinking it needed a tenon, and have been trying to come up with a good order of operations, and now I can just steal yours. Can't wait to try it out!

    Loved your tutorial. Your technique is much more straight-forward and arguably more accurate than others I have viewed and tried myself. I particularly like the methods you use to keep the pieces perfectly aligned. Well done.

    Best video out there… and I think I’ve watched all of them.
    Question: You had a snug fit with the tenon and recess between head and body. Did you end up turning the tenon down slightly? I would have thought it wouldn’t rotate freely enough without dealing with this.

    I'm just starting to learn wood turning to pass along this skill to other kids I will be training in woodcraft (and whatever else they want to learn that I could teach). Do you have a video (did you make one) on how you did the wavy pattern on the side, and the circular patterns on the top of the second mill in this video? I would love to now how you did that. And I will certainly send you some photos or videos of my first go at it. Thank you for the VERY informative video here. - William

    I'm realy impressed by the way you went about turning the pepper grinder couple of questions what size stock (length and what size square stock did you start with) and what diameter and length was the finished product. I realise the length is probably governed by the dimension of the mechanism you used.
    I'm very keen to give it a crack I'm well equipped to carry out similar turning steps you employed.
    Buy the way my wife and I visited a wood store which stocked all manner of wood turned pieces in a place called Montville in Queensland and they were asking $165.00au for each salt and pepper grinders and I made a commitment to my wife that I reckon I could turn a set up without to much difficulty so having made the spire of the moment claim I'm now under the pump to come up with the goods.
    Us blokes just can't seem to avoid putting our foot in it.
    Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Doug Gordon

    So got a chuck reversing adapter to flip the head around and maintain alignment. I guess my jaws on the second chuck are junk (Nova) as the alignment isn't even close! What did I do wrong? You can see a time of wobble in the Nova jaws.

    these grinders were invented to be fitted without glue or screws. why not follow this method, yes it means an extra step and a special tool, but that's why they are so good. you can fit them to any material.

    • @woodgrainnz
      @woodgrainnz  3 месяца назад

      Hi David, a couple of reasons
      1. There is no benefit to me clicking it in the recess as it can not come back out for replacement. 2. when you're doing a lot and there longer you have a chance of pulling off center and I like to turn them all at the end and fit 10-15 at once. Don't worry, I have all the toys/tools time wise. I like my way. I don't like the drill mill, too, as it doesn't cut the hole very clean, and as a full-time turn, I just love sanding. Lol Not
