it's been about 2 months now that I've been laid off and things are weird. this is a layoff vlog. not really something i anticipated making. not something that i had planned for. i hadn't been happy in my role but that doesn't make things any easier to process. but hey, come along on this new unemployment journey with me...

It's funny how companies aren't too crazy about the remote work trend, but they are totally on board with the remote layoff trend.

Uh, if the employees aren't coming to the office, they how are they going to lay them off at the office? The remote-work trend is a huge scam to employers. It's human nature to not work as hard when they are not being monitored. If an employee is costing a company money, they are not going to keep them on.
The motivation is so hard to get when you’re in your early 20’s and working a corporate job. You end up feeling so out of place.

Tessa, don't have to be so sad. I got laid off from my bank sales job last month. I went through the exact same feelings as you do. I was so so lost, but it'll all be fine. Enjoy your severance package & the benefits it has. take sometimes to let yourself think through it. We will all be fine, it's not a bad thing, it's really not that bad.

I'm also in Toronto and let me tell you, its rough for everyone. A lot of people are either getting laid off or they're having to work in multiple jobs. Not only people are worried about job insecurity but there are many people that are also facing food insecurity. I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this rough patch but this will also pass. I promise. 💗

Use your pain as motivation. Remember no one cares. No one. It's a illusion . Get a job. Get up dressed . And go to companies push your resume. Even intern.

This was a great video, thank you for voicing and showing such a vulnerable moment! It’s very brave to allow yourself to acknowledge and say “this is not what I want.” Even though you weren’t able to control the timeline of leaving an unfulfilling job, I’m glad you’re out of there and that you’ve had some time to reflect on what’s important to you and to rest a little. I’m 24 and work in healthcare and I feel so burned out. I’m in the process of figuring out what I want to spend my time doing but it’s a difficult process as the things I’m most interested in (photography, music, writing) may not be able to support me financially right away, if ever. Looking forward to seeing more content from you :) (also some of these comments are super weird and out of pocket, ignore the haters you’re doing great)

Got recommended this video - I've been laid off from my corporate job in Toronto. Life can be rough, but on the bright side I mustered the courage to make YT videos from the job loss and moved cities. It's been the best blessing in disguise that I'm confident you will too will eventually see in the long run.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me. This is my second job hunt this year and I’m exhausted.
I come back to this video at least 1 a week its so heartbreaking and also i dont feel as alone going through these tough times so thank you for making this video it is helping a lot of people .

i dont think companies understand the trauma of a layoff. For me i have been laid off twice and have become numb to social interactions at work and prefer remote only jobs hence forth while pursuing other revenue generating streams

I’m really sorry you had to experience this. But you need to understand that nearly everyone goes through this. You are progressing in your professional career. Chin up. Your next job will be even better.
After it all went down, I learned that my parents have been laid off over 5 times between the two of them throughout their careers and now both are successfully retired and living their best lives… it’s scary but also comforting knowing that it’s a universal experience!! Thanks for the kind words😊

I genuinely hope you are able to find a career you are passionate about, but also hope you stay realistic that unfortunately probably 90% of people never get to. Don’t beat yourself up if you end up getting a job that isn’t your first choice. I am one of the ones that isn’t doing what I wanted to do, but ended up getting into a career that has been lucrative and allowed me to do what I love when I’m on days off and holidays.

I've been with the same company for 30 years and have never experienced a layoff. But I can read the writing on the wall that in the future they may want to trim some of their more expensive employees regardless of how well we perform to pad the bottom line. I think you handled this as well as expected.

I'm so sorry to see this happen to you. It happened to me in July and I felt the exact same emotions. 6 months later I'm still unemployed but I'm enjoying being a jobless hobo for right now and working on my own things. I'm tired of being beholden to someone else and being a number.

Whenever there’s a down, there is always an up. It’s the law of nature. Goodness will come. I tested this 2 years ago when I felt all hopes were lost. But this law of nature still eventually pulled through. It might take a while, but just know that day will come, when you can reflect on the day you got laid off without tears nor sorrow.

I was let go from a lucrative temp job, using my skills as a document imaging person. Quite low on the totem pole. I have knowledge (if not experience) of so many technical things. I just don't know how to market myself. So I am in my 4th month of joblessness, and I dunno what to do either. I'm going to explore your channel some, and see what you're up to.

I was laid off September 7th and everything you’re feeling I can really relate to. I’m still looking for a new job and working some odd jobs in the meantime to help keep me afloat (I wasn’t given severance, nobody in my department was). But I’m choosing to look at this as a stepping stone to get me where I need to be and I’m learning a lot through all of this. We’re going to be okay and we will end up exactly where we’re supposed to be🩵

As an adult raised before computers it's difficult to feel empathy for job losses in a sector that has caused so many of modern society's ills. Of course we are all forced to endure all this tech in our lives today, but as someone who predates it I can unequivocally state life is not better today, it's in many ways worse.
that was honestly part of why I was so unhappy in my role prior to the layoff! spending my days lining the pockets of huge tech corporations was just not it for me

not sure how i found this vid but i'll post the same thing i did on another one of these vids that yt recommended me lol. it is almost a GOOD thing when you get laid off when youre early to mid career. it forces u to get out there and find a better job, instead of rot away in complacency. i know people that stayed in their job for decades and they make a lot less money than if they had just gone out there and ventured. you only have so long to be working and that amount of time is never going to get any longer!

you've got that right! but at the same time, always have to remember what their job is. their goal is to protect the company from a personnel perspective
i was going to college for business administration in specifically wireless sales. that was the goal. i quickly sobered up after a long chat with a trusted professor about how unapologetically tech companies cycle out people, diminish roles and create new ones shortly after. i went into my dream of dentistry this year. i am so sorry, i wish you all the luck in the world. a new opportunity will arise !! ❤

In last 14 year's of IT jobs working as consultant I laid off many times and I quit many times as well what I can tell you is this profession is like this from a long time unless you're cobol or assembly developer 😊😊

I hate corporate america. I finally thought working in a investment firm would be great.. I survived 2 lay-offs.. this last one hit me hard.. my entire department was let go, but me.... I got a text from someone who don't even work for the company saying do you still have a job.. like I don't mind working for the company, and I understand cuts happen, but damn it's so hard mentally just thinking your job is always on the line.. Iike I go in and I see like EVPs all the time, and in my mind I just say you "piece of shit all you care about is money .. " unfortunately I hate that thought process, but it's so hard to look past 2 cuts within the past 3 years.

Breaks my heart to see you struggling. I've been laid off multiple times and had to accept work outside my degree and desires. You'll find your way. The most important thing to accept and understand is that the economy impacts many lives. Voting for a liberal because you like their policies and hate the other guy isn't product. Vote Trump in 2024 or else accept your life of nothingness.
