    Jaffe should declare himself KING of Violence Island as well as HOST of Insert Credit to defend himself from any would be usurpers, regardless of their having their finger on any (Action) Button.

    I don't think Tim is allowed to give grief to Brandon for being a hater anymore after that hater behaviour regarding Hi-Fi Rush.

    • @irurwurst
      @irurwurst 10 месяцев назад +10

      saying "just admit that you're a hater" and then saying "I admit that I am a hater of this game" is the opposite of hypocritical, tho.

    2:49:02 getting out a highlighter and marking “The 26 year old-liness of the typical video game critic.”
    “There’s a lot of a 68 year old Japanese man who’s been working on games since the arcade days.”

    If you like Pseudo-Regalia you should also check out Corn Kidz 64, which imo might be even better. Not in terms of feel, naturally, but in terms of design. Completely nails feeling like a old 3d platformer with a few new sensibilities, and progressing the medium.

      I'm not even at a point in the podcast where anyone has mentioned Skyrim. But hard disagree. Skyrim was bad and did irreparable damage to aaa game design since it released

    • @Booneface
      @Booneface 10 месяцев назад +1

      @leftovernoise it was great, however I will agree the "blueprint" has been worked into the modern gaming zeitgeist to the detriment of the gaming sphere(however those games following Skyrim are not Skyrim's fault)

    • @leftovernoise
      @leftovernoise 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@Booneface Skyrim had a cool world to explore, I'll give it that. But the actual gameplay and mechanics, I despise. The reason so many people end up as an archer, is because it's the only way of playing that doesn't feel awful. The leveling system and enemy scaling have a lot of problems and it leads to having no difficulty curve at all.
      I didn't find the main quest or most of the side quests interesting. Some of the guild stuff was alright, but I feel like quests were done better in Morrowind and oblivion. It feels like it road to success on its world exploration alone.

    • @williamhaas8171
      @williamhaas8171 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@leftovernoiseSkyrim’s open world format is more in line with what you would experience in BoTW or Elden Ring than the Ubisoft formula. Its map isn’t laden with activities and check lists, it’s more about the organic process of discovery.
      Also, people always dog on it from a mechanical perspective, but it was never loved for that. It was the world and exploration, the vibes and minimalism. It’s a weed smoker’s dream video game. Even its mechanical simplicity can be viewed as a positive trait that allowed for so many people who weren’t as well versed with the genre to enjoy it and become introduced to RPGs.
      Add to that the great graphics for its time, an art style that still holds up, and a classic OST and it’s far from a bad game. It’s fine to just say you prefer Morrowind or whatever, I get that. But the “Skyrim is bad, actually” take is a joke.

    Problem with hifi rush is that it doesn’t really work if you know how to dance. It’s not really rythmic for claiming to be ryrhmic. The first boss battle feels like slowing you down to an un-danceable song.

    I am the same as Jaffe. I have the burden of not playing a numbered sequel before playing the prequels. BUT if they called it something like, "Baldur's Gate: Equilibrium" I'd be down to clown!

    • @Narokkurai
      @Narokkurai 10 месяцев назад +1

      Just stick the word "Reckoning" on the end and you can make a vaguely-related sequel to *anything*

      This might be five months later, so you may have already proverbially bitten the bullet on BG3. But I think the mystery of playing the canonical main character of the Dark Urge character actually works MUCH better if you have not played either of the games before it. Which is very likely intentional.
