The adapter doesn't change the voltage. You would need a converter/transformer to go from the 120V 60 HZ North American standard to the 240V 50HZ required for these to operate as designed. These can be bought for around $30 USD.
Yeah, that'd be plenty of room for some mealworms. I've been considering, once I get my breeding stock established, doing some selective breeding experiments (eg seeing if beetle size, speed of maturation and whether their wings are ever visible have genetic components) and a rack like that would be perfect.
I have one of those exact style mats with the US plug, though I bought it on Ebay (looks exactly like the ones on Wish & made in China too so probably the same thing). I have the small 7W one and it easily gets over 200F. The thing is, the max it can heat to is beyond the high markings on the dial; you can move the dial almost 360 to the right. This is super nice since it means it can be turned down super low to add a little, gentle supplemental heat to sensitive tropical amphibians or invertebrates during the winter when room temps may dip below optimal. It's also great that I can use my 7W mat for my leopard gecko (90F hot spot) or the more extreme temp needs of my Peter's Banded Skink (125F hot spot). The biggest downside to the mats is that the dial can easily slide out of place & w/no tick marks on the dial, you can't tell at all by look if the setting has come out of place (you need your tempt gun to tell). I found an easy, cheap fix for both. You can paint on your own tick marks using a fine tip paint brush/paint marker & once you got it dialed to where you need it, put a piece of tape over the dial to hold it in place to the plastic housing it's on. Been working great for the aforementioned skink now for a few months.
i think the tiny baby shelfs would be good for baby frogs. the raised bit can be land and the deeper bit can be filled with water. just a temporary place for baby frogs. an example is if you are raising milk frogs and most of them have lost their tails and you need a place to hold them for a bit while you get a bigger cage ready

I instinctively closed my eyes when Ed pointed at the camera and told us to close our eyes. I actually closed my eyes. I can't be the only one. Tiny baby hognoses are adorable
Nope. I did it too!
The adapter doesn't change the voltage. You would need a converter/transformer to go from the 120V 60 HZ North American standard to the 240V 50HZ required for these to operate as designed. These can be bought for around $30 USD.
Your plug adapter doesn't have a voltage converter built in. There's your problem.
The rack would work good for insect feeders ! I want it now 😂
Yeah, that'd be plenty of room for some mealworms.
That's really cool to hear. So does the temperature not fluctuate at all? Would you still have to hook it up to a thermostat?
I have those too, but I also use a thermostat because I don't trust the dial. It seems to get plenty hot though!
The baby rack seems perfect for baby garters or geckos as well!
Emily, just a thought. Are they set up for Europe where we use 230-260 v. I know you guys in the US only use 110v.
I just commented the same thing. I hope we will get an answer :D
@@ihanasekopaa Most likely, atleast that is a europlug on that cord.
We thought that was the issue as well, but the heat mat that came with the baby rack (which had an American plug) performed the same :/
@@SnakeDiscovery Still worth checking the voltage input. After all we are talking about China here.
They bought cheap products from China? During Corona virus? Wow.
i think the tiny baby shelfs would be good for baby frogs. the raised bit can be land and the deeper bit can be filled with water. just a temporary place for baby frogs. an example is if you are raising milk frogs and most of them have lost their tails and you need a place to hold them for a bit while you get a bigger cage ready
me: MOM LOOK AT HOW CUTE THIS LITTLE NOODLE IS!!!!
my mom: *EEK*
Same I really want one
My dad let me get one but my mom is terrified
Bruh same… gotta wait until I get I move out to get one…
My mom hates snakes, i have one at my dads house and she said “ OH HECK NO”
same i really want a snake but my mum wont let me have it i the house so she said i am allowed one in a shed x i would ask your parents if you could get a shed with electric in iut and keep snakes or pets in there x just an idea

13:19 a wild rick pickle spotted
@@fdiw same! Straight up made me jump 😂
I had to rewind to see what the heck just crawled out from under their fridge. I thought maybe it was a loose snake haha
I immediately went to Goosebumps territory and thought one of the mice thawed, came back to life, and was seeking revenge on the humans
I wonder if it was a loose rodent
I saw it too and was like "wtf?" So I had to rewind to see lol
The heat mat we have is the same and we got it ten years ago when I was 3 and 11 years later we are still using them for our 🐍 snakes
Why was pickle rick in the background when you were talking about plugging the thing into the wall .-.
UltraDrarry Shiper523 good, it wasn’t jus my eyes messing with me, lol
I literally freaked out cause I thought it was a mouse.
Then I thought about the chances that a mouse is alive in that house and watched again
They add pickle Rick into almost all their videos somewhere!
Looking for that rat! Need to get the serum Morty!

Cool. I’m a clarinet player. My mom an dmy grandma were clarinet players as well.

The way she had no problem holding a dead rat!!! I would be in tears!!!😭😭😭😂😂😂
I love the fact that my friend walked in and said “why does she just have a dead rat “ she doesn’t know anything about the channel 😂😂😂😂
Your Chanel is literally the reason I got over my fear of snakes, and I'm very thankful for that. I hope I'll be able to take a trip to your zoo! That would be so freaking amazing! (This doesn't really have anything to do with this video but I just wanted to say this lol)
Same i was scared of snakes
@Thora Friganza same I love snakes and I want one but I have pet rats and I dont think I would ever be able to feed rats to a snake now since I have rat children
AnnaBananaLovesPuppies 123 garter snakes? They can eat fish or worms.
4:50 Scientificly accurate: Tested on a rat.
Me, an aquarist when Emily says the normal feeding tweezers are 5-10 dollars:
All these brands are SCAMMING ME! THEY’RE 25 DOLLARS!
Btw I’m not completely sure how similar feeding tweezers are to aquarium planting tweezers but still. 25 DOLLARS FOR TWEEZERS
Oh man the story of cleaning French horns gave me horrible memories of high school band. My friend would spend like 10 minutes pulling out all of the tubes in his horn after class and just "draining" them on the floor. I don't know how anything can gather that much spit over the course of 45 minutes 😬
J3Xtrom Ew why would they drain on the floor??
I remember alll of the french horns emptying on the pavement before putting them in their cases and getting on the bus after marching 🤢
J3Xtrom hello French horn player here. I always dumped my spit on the floor too lol. It’s just how I was taught 🤷🏼♂️we had a janitor mop every night so I never even thought about it lol
J3Xtrom also it amazed me how much spit came out the spit valve of any brass instrument.
Coming from a French horn player:
1. Its actually condensation
2. It's normal for all brass instruments
3. Condensation should be emptied regularly, and that much probably means they haven't emptied in a while. By regularly, I mean about every 10-20 minutes of playing
I bought a heat mat and thermometer on amazon and the heat mat was huge like boa huge
Quarwky Reps there’s different sizes! you probably bought a 50-60G one😂
The bump in the baby rack is incase you put turtles in them so they have a spot to dry off
Oh mah god who’s keeping turtles in that?! :0
@@Everettalla What's wrong with keeping turtles there?

what was the name of the tiny brown snakes? I think they could fit in the wishrack, though I fear theys could escape through the ventilation

it can't be just me but, in every video, I see pickle rick at least once. He could be zooming past in the background, or he could be half cut off by a corner. Editor, good job. we all owe our applauses to you.

That pickle sliding on the floor scared me, I thought a geko got loose for a second. XD
Hi! The heat mats got me thinking. Here in Finland we have those plugs and our standard voltage is 230 V. Is your lower? That could explain why the heat mats dont work.
@Rebster that's why they aren't working.
i’ve found the same after moving from the US to finland that none of our adapters really worked bc if the volt difference
Little baby DeKay's could go in the little baby rack!!! So cute 🥰!!!
Ed: this is painful to edit.
Me: 😂🤣😆🤣😂😆🤣😂😆
When Emily sees: RUDE 😂😂
Is there a reason a pickle was flying through the background lol
Pickle Rick is hidden in every vid

Cassandra Quist came here for this comment.
Yeah I was like wtf what’s that green thing scuttling?
Then I heard from the comments that it was a pickle😆
PICLE RICK
Yes!!!! So did I, I kept going back to see what it was but never could figure it out so I came to the comments.
i saw that you had the feeder tongs in the thumbnail along with the baby “snake rack” and i thought maybe you could make those into a feeder insect rack.
8:46
You could use it as a baby feeding rack? Like you put the baby snake(s) in the bin(s) (preferably hognoses) give them the food and BOOM! Baby feeding rack. Yes ik I’m late on the vid but oh well.
I've actually used those heat mats (Not off of wish but amazon) and they've work amazingly for over 2 years! The heat is regulated amazingly with those built-in temp control. I have a thermometer to keep temps 100% monitored and I have a heat gun just to be safe they work great for my leopard geckos (:
same!! but with my ball python.
Have you tried a voltage converter for the heat matts? If they are European design they’ll probably work better on a European voltage
me: was that a pickle that ran past her ???
Emily: continues talking about the mister
me: WTF is going on?!?!?!
Emily: ya it doesnt have a digital timer
I had to go back and rewatch 3 times to figure out what I was seeing.
It's an Easter egg. Every video has a pickle Rick in it.
I love the close your eyes part lol
13:18 pickle Rick under the cabinet going from the bottom of the fridge
"WHY IS IT PULSING?"
-Emily, 2020
I've been using those heatmats for years (from eBay, but the same product) and they've been just fine and worked well. (and yeah. I live in Finland, EU, and we have 230V and you have 120V so... maybe that's why it didn't work for you)
8:15 I feel like the "hatchling rack" would work pretty well for like, small frogs?
I genuinely thought there was a mouse running around in your kitchen 😂 clever hidden pickle!

You can't just splice the wire and get the same result. European plugs run at a higher voltage (220 volts vs 120 volts in North America).
This is honestly one of my favourite videos on the channel. ❤️❤️
