I can't believe how amazing this process is. To anybody interested in a real custom guitar, I cannot recommend David enough. I tried many other custom companies like Keisel, and Aristides, but they are not really custom. You don't have really that many options and everything is within their parameters. However, with David was different, I was able to ask for different scales, different fret radius, hand pick the wood that will be used so that I know how the guitar wood will look throughout the process, and many more things. All this customisation, at a much better price that the afore mentioned companies. Thanks David.
Some people think pointy headstocks look like they’re stubby but I bet a headless with the rest of the strings not trimmed and hanging out can take out more eyes. And let’s face it. We squint when we tune up… you know you do a lil.
That is the almost exact shape as a Valravn Munnin, even uses the same trem they offer. Only differences I can spot are the strandberg style concave cut on the lower body and input jack under the bridge, which I wish my Valravn had. Ah, and the pu selector switch is a toggle instead of a blade-switch.
I have a few questions, if you don't mind. What CAD/CAM software ware are you using? I have been wondering about creating a setup up on CNC for doing sidedots rather than hand drilling them, but do you have a foolproof method for quickly getting the drilled holes all in one line? I take extreme care doing this step by hand, and it takes forever. Do you always use epoxy to glue on fretboards, and are you not worried about resin getting into the truss rod slot without a masking strip? Is the software you use 3D capable? I see that you are able to machine the fretboard radius, but I don't think I saw the body contours being machined. Were they done by hand? And last, how many of the tiny end mills end up breaking? I've been thinking about simply using an engraving bit to create a guideline at each fret location and then hand sawing on those lines. I feel like it would be faster. Is CNC faster for fret slots? Sorry for the barrage of questions. The guitar looks great. Thanks!
I use Fusion360 for CAD/CAM. I just released a video about my modeling process. It's fully 3D, I also cut the body contours but refine the neck joint by hand to get it to feel perfect after gluing in the neck. The side dots I just do by hand, it takes me like 2 minutes so just fixturing it on the CNC would take longer. I only used epoxy here because of the Richlite fretboard which isn't wood so I wasn't sure how well wood glue would work. I'm not worried about glue in the slot as I use a truss rod with a plastic sleeve, meaning no exposed moving parts (apart from the nut) With the right settings the small endmills are no problem. I think all but one I broke were while installing or otherwise by hand and not in the cut. CNC isn't faster for the slots (takes 30-40min) but it's easier and more precise for sure (plus you get hidden slots without having to bind the fretboard)
How do you call the type of finish you made on the body ? I really love the look of this guitar ! EDIT: Chaos burst stain found in the link below video !
Chaos burst is not necessarily a standard term but what makes sense to me as it is a blue to orange/brown burst with an intentionally messy transition. In case your questions was about the clear coat over top that's a satin finish (a bit more shine than matte but much less than gloss).
I'm no instrument builder, but isn't the neck usually a "neck-thru" or bolted on? Can the glue alone hold the neck in place? Sorry, I'm inexperienced in this field. 😅
You're right that often the neck is bolted on, however that's more of a convenience and ease of manufacturing thing than strength. A proper glue joint like this will me more solid than bolts and allow me to carve the joint more aggressively to increase comfort.
Yes, it's on wheels so I can move it. But I don't have much space so between the tripod for filming and me wanting to be able to move around it gets tight quickly.
On the old machine the body was about 30-40min per side, back of the neck maybe 30min. The new machine cuts that to 15-30min for the body per side and around 15-20min for the neck
I put it in the description. It's the best I could find that is royalty free and doesn't require a subscription. Tool sadly would get my video flagged.
Are the songs playing actual songs or just random musings of a guitar player... cuz this music is badass. Also what would the cost on something like this be?
There is a link in the description to the music. One as crazy kitted out as this one would be around 3500CHF, but with cheaper options 2500CHF is also doable. I have more pricing details on my website.
You can reach out to me through Instagram or my website (both linked in the description). I have some limited guitars in stock but most is built to order to your exact specs.
@@DarkArtGuitars sorry man, you're awesome but to me a Jackson or ESP with a reverse head stock is beautiful almost my favorite part of the guitar, It's like a chick with nice tits. A headless guitar is like a chick with no tits.

Question is how much does the price come out be on something like this?
legitimately one of the most beautiful guitars i’ve ever seen

Beautiful build.
Always lol
It looks like a mix of Strandberg and Skervesen. Beautiful job 👌
this might just be the most gorgeous guitar ive ever seen, whoever owns this owns a killer axe dude! great job
This thing is a work of art. Love the design, great montage video as well!
You're the Celebrimbor of guitars, forging axes of evil to rule the earth!
Damn man, really upping your game here. Absolutely incredible work. Well done!!!
Incredible end result
This was a seriously beautiful build
Awesome build! A true craftsman.
What a superb build. Well done sir!
Love to see the process ❤

Yo that is so sick dude! If i could afford it ,it would be worth every penny! Excellent. And im not a big headless guy.but this is dope!
Simply beautiful guitar amazing work of art
Watching the cnc do those small details on a .6 and then .3 bits was nerve-wracking, but very soothing at the same time.
Yes, it's surprisingly easy but just takes forever.
Absolutely amazing guitar great work truly
Beautiful work!!
Great work man! Really good stuff and just the thing I would like to have and play. Well done and keep routing!
👽🤘
Awesome work dude, the stain really brings out the burl 😊
That's a beautiful guitar.
Beautiful guitar!
So beautiful
Very nice work!!!
Nice work! Awesome guitar!
It would be great if in the video description you told what materials and tools you use. Thank you
You can check my website for all the detailed specs on the build
beautiful guitar, love it!❤

It would be cool to see Japanese style joinery techniques to mate the neck to the body.

Amazing work! where did you get the brass claw and springs? The links did not provide anything! Thank you.
The copper claw and springs were included with the Sophia bridge.
Can`t you turn the bandsaw so the wood doesn`t go to the wall?
Yes, it's on wheels so I can move it. But I don't have much space so between the tripod for filming and me wanting to be able to move around it gets tight quickly.
How long does it take the CNC to complete the neck? The body? I always see them sped up, so curious about the actual time lapse

Great work.... what's the CNC, and how did you do the roundover on the back of the body?
This is my modified RatRig Killerbee CNC. I used a scallop toolpath to cut the round over with the CNC and then refined it by hand to be perfect.
Is this you playing this damn Bangor of a song dude can I get the tablet for real this song is amazing I would love to play it
No, that's not me sadly. There is the info for the music in the description.

Where did you place the neutral fret?
no need for it
@@GedonKolga What do you mean? It's multi scale, it has to be somewhere. Are you confusing it with zero frets?
@@Wepeell somewhere near the center of the scale then
@@Wepeell logically thinking the 12th
This one has the 9th fret as the neutral as requested by the customer. Usually I do 5th fret for 7 string.
