  • The city of Florence is so stunning, with so much to explore, so much art to check out, and so much food to eat … you might wonder: is Pisa worth it?
If your time in Italy is tight, know that it's definitely easy to make a day trip (or even half-day trip) from Florence to Pisa.

For about 10 Euros, you’ll take a regional Trenitalia train on a 90 minute ride from Florence to Pisa.
    This is important:
Don’t get off at the Pisa Centrale stop.
    Go to: Pisa Rossore.
From there, it's a short walk to the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre Pisa).
Tickets to climb the 800-year-old steps are 20 Euros, and you should reserve in advance if you’re going during the peak summer months.
It’s almost 300 steps to the top, and the whole way, you’ll really feel the tilt.
From the belltower, you'll get a birdseye view of Pisa, and the cathedral next door.
After your tour, you can walk down some of the surrounding streets in Pisa for lunch, or just head back to the train station and continue on to Lucca or Livorno, or head back to Florence.
If you’re on a tight schedule, you can go from Florence to Pisa, check out the tower and cathedral, and be back in Florence by the early afternoon.
Pisa is a great day trip, if you have a few days in Florence. Check this post for a full guide:

Definitely worth a day trip. Its a small town so you can enjoy it in that time. There is also a botanical garden for 4 euros which is close by and you can get away from the sun under a tree.

Thanks for the tip on the correct train station; I, sure enough, was about to book Pisa Centrale.

@@JaredDillinghamTravel I went yesterday. I was surprised that there were no big visual signs on directions to Pisa when exiting the platform. We all ending up turning right when going down the stairs which just took us back downstairs. Exit signs showing left and right and the name of where it puts you neither mentioned Pisa.

It was under construction when I was there. I hope to make another trip to go to the top!

Just wow. Pisa is so much more than piazza dei miracoli, and this is why you should never ever drop in san rossore and head straight to the tower.
If you go just for the tower my suggestion is: stay in florence, it is not worth it.
Been living in pisa for several years now.

What a beautiful place to live! This advice is more for people who work hard all year to save up for a week of vacation in Italy, have very little time, and want to see as many of the sites as possible. I took my mother there for her first time, and this was a site on her list.
