It seems like it would be better to give the money to a non-religious disaster relief fund. That way, the money will absolutely go to the people in need, whether they belong to a church or not.

It's funny how bad faith your comment is.

its not just paying the salary of the priest or pastor. for these small churches the head of the congregation gets minimal income. The church needs to pay for utilities, mortgage or rent, property taxes, insurance, maintenance and repairs and other things to run even a small church. Unless you see the paster rolling in a Bentley or obviously doing things with the money then I would not assume its just going to line his pockets. But also only give what you can afford. This 10% of income is BS. some people can afford that but many can't and they should not be shamed into giving more then what is reasonable in the budget to give.

If a child wants to help someone in need, that is laudible and should be encouraged. But children also need to understand that not every "charity" is actually helping the needy. So I don't disagree with the start of the video - the urge to help out of our own abundance - but then directing that urge toward an opaque organization with a dubious history is WRONG.

I don't have a problem with kids donating money to charity; but I've always told kids don't just give to anybody. Look how they use the gifts they are given.
I used to give a dollar a week to my church when I was a kid. And I knew where the money went my Mom explained it to me, 10% went to our church diocese to help pay for Diocesan needs, so that was $0.10, $0.60 went to paying for physical buildings upkeep, that was 60%. 20% went to pay for a priest so that was $0.20. And the remaining 10% or $0.10 went to our churches outreach programs. Like feeding and housing the homeless; and supporting a number of city programs funded the assorted religious and non-religious groups in our area that the city couldn't fund by itself.
Our church also gave anything that it had left over at the end of the year in the buildings budget to assorted outreach programs... We put our money where our mouth was and NEVER gave to organizations that required you to be religious to get help. Help shouldn't come with strings It's help, and its for everyone.

I understand your experience was traumatic, but I still don't think that's a reason to generalize and put all old people into the category of "creep". You'll be old one day, what about then?
If this sounds offensive, I'm not trying to be, and I greatly apologize if that's the case, but it seems a bit off to assume someone is a certain way just becuase they're at a certain age.
Unless you mean old people who are part of a Jehovah's Witnesses congregation, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole so I understand you there.
Mind you, I 100% understand if the elderly people you're talking about are J.W.'s. Those types of people deserve nothing, no matter their age, becuase they're just a bunch of cultists in a pyramid scheme. I get that. But hating people in general without even giving them a chance is wrong. Giving people a chance doesn't mean being naive. You can give someone a chance and still be ready to punch them and run away if they start acting suspicious. Refusing to give an old person a lift via your car simply because they're old shows you don't have any sense of perspective. States having to enforce a law about gender has nothing to do with having a good relationship with your child. No law should interfere with your child's happiness and safety since this mainly concerns not choosing to go to church and forcing them will only incentivize their decisions a.k.a going against their parents decisions out of spite. It goes both ways for people who are religious and those of non religious backgrounds and cultures. Eventually your kids aren't supposed to be mini versions of you but their own people as adults. I feel like the worst thing about the first giving money section is that when disasters happen, it is very human to want to help, especially for children who don't understand the world so well yet. But instead of using the money that kids do want to donate, they use it for dumb stuff like the compounds and building congregation buildings over and over. Like, when the Ukraine-Russia conflict started, I wanted to go and help in any way I could, but I'm an adult. A child could go "oh I'll send them my money for restoration efforts or relocation for the refugees!" but then donate their money to a place that will never use their money for the intended reason.

When my dad lost his job at 50 and a WW2 vet, they literally called him and asked how come you havent turned in your envelopes for several weeks. I was horrified that they cared more about his money than his well being. How very sickened I was that they used his "faith" for their gain. I have seen Jehovahs use a little girl to knock on doors that had toys outside just to harass the parents who answered. Even at a friends baby baptism they were asked to sign a petition to ban the LGBTQ community. Wow how very insulting, especially when you preach an all loving "god". Everyone has a right to believe in whatever religion they decide to, but forcing it on someone else is wrong. Just look back into history and how it seems that greed, evil, and force, have destroyed so many cultures and innocence just for cruelty, power and profit.I have only seen hipocrasy, none of these organized religions practice what they seem to preach, it truly is a shame. In general, that's kind of how people tend to treat kids which always frustrated me growing up, that you can spend all day with a certain expectation for what your day will be like but you have no control if it changes. (And then they frame it as the kid "making a sacrifice" as if he has any say in the matter). But the dad also didn't consult his wife at all and she just has to smile and go along with it. shit would be so much easier if i could just forcibly rewire myself to fit their beliefs

I genuinely tend to leave videos kind of quickly, I have a really bad attention span (probably undiagnosed adhd, as well as other stuff I've been diagnosed with lol), but your little cut ins genuinely help my brain be like "Oh, something's happening, it's not one long thing,". I haven't clicked off a video of yours since you started doing it, so I guess it's working lol.

I lived with my grandmother growing up and she is a Jehovah's Witness. I remember when the brothers and sisters would go around and fix up or build new kingdom halls. Yes it was all volunteer work but I never once heard about anyone going other's houses that were effected by hurricanes or tornados and fixing or building them new houses. It was always "pray to Jehovah and he will help bless them." I always hated hearing that. So glad I never got baptized and got out of there.

I have had family members put buttons in coin jars because the buttons popped off, and they didn't pay attention to what all goes into the jar. Once had an uncle put my aunts needle threader that looks like a coin into a coin jar.
It's also funny how the poor are always getting demands of people wanting donations as the richer people i see say no to even tipping.

Question...I know you said to watch from start to finish... Which I do but not in one setting... So,
If I start the video and pause it and then go back in like 2 hours to finish it and do finish.... Does that watch behavior effect the channel negatively? Watching is the only way I can support right now so just wondering if the way I watch is alright.
Thanks for all the videos and stuff. Your content is awesome!

11:10 notice how quiet the mother becomes when a man enters the car? I think it might be that jehovahs witnesses encourage women not to speak in situations like this and instead the husband speaks. Subtle but definitely intentional.

    • @evem6154
      @evem6154 Год назад

Plus, the whole 'give it to the BROTHERS' because why give money to women? The manfolk need the money to take care of their women. Women have fathers and husbands, they don't need money.

The kids don't seem to have a voice either. "Dad, I don't feel safe having to sit in the backseat with this old man that I don't know"
"How dare you say that,we need to help the people around us and make sacrifices!"
I mean, Caleb is clearly not comfortable when the man gets in the car and is visibly disappointed/upset/mad because they won't go to the park. He's entitled to those feelings but his parents totally disregarded their son's very valid feelings in favor of doing something that will make their God happy. That's not okay.
Caleb didn't make the choice to help that man, his dad did. But apparently, the rest of the family is supposed to just blindly obey the "head of thd household" like their opinions and feelings don't and shouldn't matter.

My parents taught me to save money so I could save it in a bank account. We were still allowed to spend our allowances, but we were given choices and allowed to learn about taking care of ourselves. We also did volunteer things and helped buy holiday gifts for needy families and other charity. Kids like C&S are so young that it really seems ridiculous to make them shell out their nickels and dimes for someone else... :/
