As someone who's interested but never took the time to learn 3D modeling, the subsurface texturing is mind blowing! It's really subtle if you are not deliberately looking at it, but it definitely sells the realism.
I would pay to see the full tutorial workflow from start to end product of this project. As a animation student I need to know how to make characters like this, it is amazing!
40:36 that render was so good, so photorealistic, looks like she could pop out of the screen. Great video as well, tons of little gems in here. Wouldve never thought to tackle make up the way you did
Thank you for providing great content J, it honestly makes me sad to see people be mean in comments against artist like you, because the little skill i have in this field has required many hours of grinding and passion and seeing ur skills i cant even think how many hours you have grinded. I just want to say thank you for providing content only artists that know how much work this requires has only respect for you providing content. Thank u again J, srry for long message. Keep being awesome man
Thank you for the message bro. Keep grinding and striving to be better and you'll continue to grow. Haters don't matter. Happy New year to you and I hope your next year is better than your last. Cheers
Ha, I knew her facial expression was familiar. I have the same Cyberpunk Girl photo reference pack. It's by Grafit Studio. They have tons of reference photos on Artstation.
Amazing work!! we can tell the amount of time you put in to 3D just by seeing you sculpting the face with no symmetry at all. I will have to work very hard to be at this level. Thank you for inspiring me
I bought myself a graphics tablet yesterday so I could play and I found your video today. It made me realise that I have a LOT of work to do if I want to be anything like you knowledge wise. Talent is another world entirely. Incredible work, thank you for sharing it.
oh please PLEASE make a tutorial on xgen for complete newbies its hard to find really simple concise tutorials for xgen and how to groom been wanting to get into it for the longest time since theres diff methods on how to make hair like zbrush fibermeshes and making hair cards or xgen in maya. Your vids are so informative and insightful thanks so much for making this!
I wish I had even 10% of your technical skill to manage something like this, holy shit... This is insanely good! I just managed to get Arnold to work for my very first solid piece on my portfolio and thought I was a God, then I saw this :D I can only hope that one day I do stuff with the quality of this piece, damn!
J man this is easily one of my favourite pieces of art in 2020. It's iconic, especially the blue light version. I didn't even play cyberpunk but there's something about this one that is special. Great job and if you make a print I'll buy it instantly, nice big center piece in my room 100%. Great job.
Thank you man, I'm glad you like it. I've been asked about a print a few times and I may do a limited run. Follow me on instagram @artofjhill so if I do one you'll know
Wow man. Looking at your workflow, and just analyzing the steps you go through... It makes me understand so many things I didn't consider as much in previous projects. Thank you very much sir, for your work!!
That was really freaking dope! You hit us with a lot of stuff. Terms i've heard of but never given a clue what they're for -- like Unwrapping. I'm new to this 3D thing. Like i'm at the house, but not unboxed yet. Plus the fact you used a reference board and organized it as you did left a great impression on me. I'd never heard of one before.
Super cool process - and so well articulated! Thank you for sharing. Time to dabble with some cubes and cylinders make some ice cream cones to work my way towards this quality some day haha.
This came out so well brotha it blew me away when I first saw it on artstation and now to see your workflow it scratched every itch I had about this project. Thanks for all the concise info man keep up the great work and stay blessed homie 👊🏻
Thanks for ending 2020 with a bang! hehe I don't normally do that sort of high frequency work but I still found it very interesting. Thanks for sharing those incredible tricks and also thanks Keanu.
Great stuff, man. I was able to follow along till u got to Arnold render stuff....which is pretty dang complicated but ya! Keep up the great work, my dude! Respect!
Just the video I needed!! Awesome! Still a little unclear about the makeup process but I'm still new to Arnold using maps from zbrush. I'm using C4D so that's a bit of a difference too.
glad you liked it. It is fast so there would still be some figuring out to do. If you have aiFlakes and Layered Shader that should be all you need. cheers
@@artofjhill Everything is included in c4d like it is in Arnold. I was talking more about how you made the layered shader and masks in zbrush and transferred it over. That was the only part I was confused on but it's so freaking awesome how it came out! Is there anyway to clarify how to do that? Like I said I'm still new to using Arnold. Cheers!
I just wanted to say that I enjoyed watching your video and also learned a lot from you as well. I really liked the part where you went into the skin and the hair in detail. I wish you a happy holiday and a happy new year!
Thanks a ton. Love your videos and you break down things so well that we can understand them! Love some more detailed vids on skin and hair workflow. Your lighting is next level and omg displacement workflow would be great. It’s the thing I couldn’t get working properly when trying to bring a character from zbrush to maya, and my detail gets lost. Look forward to your future vids and projects!!!
thanks for this video- it was very eye opening. I am one of the lead artists for ISMC mod (Insurgency Sandstorm) but i don;t have experience with character modeling , and your videos help me with that- so thanks again ;) I joined your Discord too.
I'm just starting out working in 3D with Zbrush and the complexity of the workflow is almost daunting. But man, do the end result looks good! Hope I'll be around same level of understanding the process someday.
I can't think of other words besides a simple "Thank you". You are breathtaking
YOU'RE BREATHTAKING!
the man is inspring! Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha glad you enjoyed but you can achieve good results too with enough time and practice

You just need 5 seconds watchtime to know that this guy is a beast in zBrush GODMODE. Thanks bro.
you're one of the best for me with Raf Grassetti! Thanks for sharing your time and your ideas.
THIS IS LOOKING UNREAL ! But when you see how much goes into sculpting and polishing shaders, it's worth it
Edit: Glad you came back to YT :D
