I'm extremely happy with my GWG-1000. Made in Japan. This commercial/ad is pretty cool, but if I was stranded in the Amazon rainforest seriously hurt I'd hope my rescuers would have more than a wristwatch. No matter how badass the watch is lol. Hey I'm a huge G shock fan, I just hope if you're paying over the $600-800 level the thing should be made in Japan

So what's the main difference between this and GWG1000?
The gwg has solar and radio sync, but different features and no step counter, but costs a lot more. Its also bigger.
The differences are: the construction has a carbon core, the bezel is made up of bioplastics, resin and steel segments. There is a new movement which now has two sub dials, the 3 o'clock sub dial is for a compass position reference, the sub dial at 9 o'clock is for the barometer and battery life indicator, additionally the watch now comes with Bluetooth which can be used in coordination with the compass positioning and the G Shock app to map your location, you also now have a sunrise and sunset feature but again this is not standalone and requires the Bluetooth app to work. So as a standalone watch it's pretty much no different from the GWG 1000.

This one is more closely related to the GWG 2000 due to its carbon fiber composite

I want to like it as I'm a massive g shock fan but this just isn't doing it for me after the GWG 2000. Maybe it's a better in person watch but the 2000 has that wow factor and seems more toyish.

Just for location indicator other than that you can pretty much use without the phone
