I love seeing stroms, of any generation, getting the love they deserve :D That karting track looks so cool, I karted in Colorado when I was working over there, I never thought about the fact it's a mile above sea level.....it nearly killed me :D
Centre stands are very useful, @fatherbobber had to roll my bike around for me to lube the chain when we were over in Tennessee, which is a bit of a pain.
I'm yet to find a Vstrom screen position I like. Screen off was also best for me. It's very pretty, and looks a bit more of a narrow package than mine, I believe it's not much lighter though which is interesting. That cable placement is very silly.
I was actually thinking of doing a Garmin.....we'll see. My phone never stays charged and rain messes with it for nav so it gets annoying. I'm still unsure of beaks, but I absolutely love my Vstrom and really like yours too!!
Cable might be correct.....but I don't like it :D Lovely rain, at least when it does it here it's generally mad heavy and then gone.
Best of luck with it amigo and congrats again :)

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones  Месяц назад

Strom Strom Strom Strom... reminds me of the old Skol Lager adverts 😀
WOW, that is pretty high up... am guessing it was altitude sickness that was making me breath heavily on the third floor too! 😀
The thing I dislike about this centre stand is it is the same as the one on the DE version, so is designed for a taller bike, which makes it a PITA to get off the stand and a little harder than it should be to get it up on it too. But they are super handy... I have paddock stand bobbins on the bike too, but it is way easier to just deploy the main stand.
I have just moved mine up to the high position, not tested it yet, but think it will still be too low... but if I can squidge down to get into nice air, then at least I'll know how much taller I need an aftermarket screen to be if I go bigger... I could also just fit a phone mount on to the nav bar and use my phone as a wind deflector with the screen totally off, which might be an option... although not so good for the phone in the rain! 😀
Yeah, it is a shame it is heavier than the 8S... if it was the same weight, I'd have possibly got the DE and ditched the Aprilia, possibly... LOL
I need to sort that cable... someone suggested re-routing the wire, so I am going to try that too, at least it will stop it interfering with the switchgear then even if my finger will still rub on it.
I just got an induction phone charger on my XSR900 GP which means it charges any time it is connected to the mount (while the bike is on), so flat battery is less an issue. The screen going stuupid though is very annoying and something I find very frustrating on trail rides where I am using it for route guidance as even behind a windscreen it still gets wet and stuupid LOL
Thanks mate, I always enjoy responding to your comments, I have to do it on a PC though so I can look back on what you wrote as I go 😀

Ahh thanks for the sub 🙂
Cheers, I really like it, I hope you get as much from yours if you get one as I do this one.
I don't know about case... all cases are pretty much alike for protecting phones, but there are many options for mounting the phone to the bike, that was what I was mentioning. The SP Connect, or Peak Designs I think are better options, but only if you don't have anything already... I have 4 bikes, and each has a QuadLock mount so I'll probably stick with them even though they are a bit fiddly and expensive.
The bikes dash has no option for displaying maps or anything but the bikes dash display (speed, rpm, fuel, temps, etc).
A lot of people have recommended the Givi Airflow screen, they are very expensive though.

yeah I missed a bit in the couple weeks of no YT watching. I was actually considering the 800DE as an addition and I'm still considering it. They are a really good bike. That cart session looked really fun too.

Ahh mate, YT is just YT, we can't be on it all the time... I actually need to catch up on my viewing too as I'll not be able to watch it at work for a while due to a big project I've been given.
The DE is a great bike, although I am not sure where that would sit as an addition for you unless getting rid of one? I wish they did a "SE" sport version, with 17" wheels, as that would possibly have been the unicorn bike for me, but the RE is a cracker.
The Karting was awesome fun mate, my mate and I nearly always have a go at it when we catch up, last few times were at a different location, he nearly always beats me on fastest lap and overall too, so I got some gloating in on this occasion 😀

I wonder whether the underslung exhaust from an 8S would work on an RE? It'd get rid of that big ugly exhaust, tho might screw up a centre Stand

The frames are different, not sure how different, but certainly different part numbers.
I did look to see if I could get the Akrapovic I had from my 8S to fit this, and it wouldn't work with the locations of the footpegs etc, so guessing the stock 8S can would not fit either.

The throttle heated grip factory routing is above the kill switch but I fitted it below allowing for WOT.
