Where did you find the hitch for the electrified GV70?

I had to chuckle when I saw the connection between EV and Caravan and Camping in the title. Imagine an electric car towing an electric-only caravan! You would need two pitches at a site. One to charge the car and another to charge the caravan 🤣

As a Camping and Caravanning tow car review I'm surprised the conclusion wasn't "pretty useless". A range of 115 miles is no good to man nor beast. I'm afraid until EV manufacturers sort out the battery/range issue I would not be looking to tow a caravan with any EV car.

They can't as the technology is too restrictive. If anything I think hydrogen will the future for caravaners and motorhomers.

115 miles? You'll be lucky. My Nissan Leaf had a manufacturer's claimed range of 110 miles which in reality was 35 miles at night in winter in the rain. Remember everything is electric: lights, heater, windscreen wipers, radio, heated seats and steering wheel. Yes, the steering and brakes were also electric. And the coolant circulating pump - the battery runs hot and needs a radiator, coolant and electric pump. After two years it needed a new £5000 battery and the warranty was void because I had quite wrongly plugged it in to recharge it when it was already 80% full. So the range is nowhere near the manufacturer's range, and £2500 per annum running cost is a bit much for an ordinary car. And that's just the battery.

£65 000 + and when towing only 115 miles what good is that I think I’ll stick to my Mercedes Glc 220 a full tank will get me almost any ware

Highlights all of the inherent issues with towing electric! At £65+ it’s in the luxury car bracket and for that I would want more. Not large enough for me and far too expensive for the dynamic capabilities. Well presented video however.

I'm sure it is nice inside and impressive technology but 115 miles (and that's not in winter with the demands on lights/air con/heated screens/heated seats etc) is utterly useless and puts you at the mercy of the public charging system with all its idiocincracies. A small EV for around your local area makes sense (if you have off street parking) but for long journeys or towing they are 'Emperor's New Clothes'.

Fair review, but pricey car and very limited range. Given that public charging is only up to 80% really and you cannot actually go down to 0% charge, is the actual real world range nearer to 60 or 70 miles before you need to charge up again? Now rather than range, tell us how many times you would actually need to stop and re-charge to cover the 350 miles to get from the North of England to the South of England for a ferry to France, and how long this journey would actually take ...

Absolutely right. Apparently on my Nissan Leaf if you recharge it when it is already 80% full, or if you let it drop below 20%, that invalidates the battery warranty. So you get 60% of the actual range which in turn is going to be less than 80% of the claimed range.

115 miles is absolute rubbish. Imagine travelling from the South coast up to Scotland. That's 6 stops to recharge - minimum. Better take a few weeks off work. Does one unhook the caravan and leave it somewhere when using public charging points? Does your caravan insurance cover that? How many charging facilities are on the campsites dotted around the UK? EV's for caravaning and the power source for motorhomes is a non-starter - IMHO.

It’s a camping and caravan video. Would prefer more time spent in the video on the differences in range across varying terrain or more info on the comparison of range with/without caravan.
