I think the reason for the peak brightness not being as pronounced on the QLED in its accurate picture mode is because Samsung is finally prioritizing accuracy and following the EOTF cure more closely. Overall great video!
There is also the issue of 8K pixels blocking the backlight more due to the mesh of the dark areas between pixel getting closer together, and therefore darker.

I dont agree with that statement . Yes oled gives you super high contrast and true black. But I have an cX 65 lg oled and a 65” q95t Samsung and I gotta say that in many ways I prefer the Samsung especially when it’s still a bit bright outside . It looks outstanding and I don’t mind the small blooming sometimes . And that deep 3D effect that the tv have is awesome ! I miss that on the oled. The oled is made for a room with little to no light in the room . Then it looks killer and the screen is almost undefeateble . Hey Tha_Villaman. Fantastic! Curious though, when you do the split screens off-angle comparison, what are your local dimming settings on the Q800T? There was more blooming at 11:33 than I would expect in the upper right corner when viewed straight on.

This makes the Samsung bezels look thicker. My conclusion from all the reviews is: If you have a very bright room, large windows and like leaving the lights on - go for the Samsung. If your room can get dark enough - LG all the way.

How subtitles act in dark scenes especially in HDR haven't seen any LCD that does well in subtitles in dark scenes, since many ppl are not native English and need subtitles and not many ppl discuss this issue. Definitely something we agree on..... "motion interpolation shouldn't be used for regular TV watching." I can't stand using motion interpolation, like at all. There's always way too many inconsistencies and artifacts. I'm really not sure what the use case is for motion interpolation? Do you have a specific use case where it's necessary? I guess demo footage? Idk...
Not me I love motion interpolation we should have moved on from the 24p standard a decade ago it's antiquated. People can't handle change very well though especially growing up and viewing 24p their whole lives. I use the SVP software to watch movies at 60p/120p using motion interpolation and love the smoothness. It uses my 2080ti for acceleration so there is no artifacts literally never.
@@aaronjohnson2547 same here. I don't understand how smoother isn't better for people. How can you justify keeping 24fps. It's stupid. Watching something in 4k 60fps native is so much better than sub 30.
@@Techno4more it's called smooth video project its software for the PC it uses your processor or your GPU to apply frame interpolation to any video source you choose up to 240 fps. If your GPU or processor is fast enough you will never see an artifact it's amazing! It works for Plex and RUclips as well literally everything I watch is smooth as hell now I love it! I just watched RoboCop at 4K 120 frames per second and it was glorious I'll never go back.
Hello very good excellent video. I would like to ask a question. What model is the oled CX6 or cx5 and what is the difference between the two why the characteristics are identical thank you very much I wait for a response
I have a JVC I bought from Costco about five years ago, it’s a 1080 p, 120 htz, DLED tv. I actually think it looks pretty good, but if I’m going to get a PS5 I’m wondering if and when I need to upgrade.
Hey Villaman! Another great video...thank you. I wish you could have side by side comparisons with the exact same material instead of the split screen of the frame. At times it was hard to make a comparison because of the left side/right side difference of the image. But thanks for the variety of images- that helped a lot. I am still not totally sold on the 8K panels yet. A lot more pixels to push and process without an appreciable increase in PQ but potentially with increased reliability/repair issues. I am still waiting for Samsung to implement next gen tech that will limit (or eliminate) blooming while increasing overall contrast with the higher inherent brightness of the lcd panel.
Very very good review. One of the best I've seen thus far. Definitely helped me get in the right direction. Looking for an OLED but that latency is terrible.
Great video, but there is one statement you made that I have to disagree with. You stated that the QLED had better shadow detail than the OLED, and that is not correct. The native contrast ratio of the QLED is much lower than the OLED without local dimming so in the scenes with both bright and dark areas close together, the near black areas are lifted. As a result you can see them more clearly. That is not an indication of better shadow detail. Watch the TV in a very dark room and you will see exactly this.
Hi Budy, Thinking to buy 75" Samsung Q950TS! Can you recommend this tv? as my son play games as well. the only worry is No Dolby Atmos or Dolby vision? this TV could be for next 10 Years!!
So which tv is better for gaming? Can someone please tell me the input lag in both? Also CX has four 2.1 hdmi port, is that the UHD port? I have sky q and watch alot of UHD sport, I dont want to keep changing HD ports for gaming (when PS5 come out) with sky q port because Samsung only 1 UHD port. someone please answer!
Great review would love to see more feature comparisons as some of the screen tests wouldn't mean much in real world environment tuner choice and refresh rates are important but so are the apps and usability
Love the higher nits/HDR peak brightness. I would chose that over slightly dark blacks anyday. But I would never go without full hdmi 2.1 (on mulitple ports) and DV.
Currently looking at both of these TVs - I want to use one as a computer monitor. Anybody tested them for that? =D I thought I was going to get the LG OLED, but the 8K resolution could really come in handy for a monitor.
Each TV has its own strengths and weaknesses. It comes down to what’s important to you. I for one am sold on DolbyVision. I won’t even consider a TV without it. Wow, as I’m writing this you just said the same thing about strengths and weaknesses lol. In fact I’m also an OLED owner and it’s the best TV I’ve ever owned. Everything just looks better on my OLED then it did on my previous LCD with FALD.
I've heard rumors from close friends that were going to start seeing some laptops with 8K displays with 2 or 3 years though it will be very very hard to get your hands on one and most of them won't be able to play Triple AAA games and will either be equipped with an RTX 3080 or a next-gen series which obviously has not been released yet.

I can't stand using motion interpolation, like at all.
@@aaronjohnson2547 what do you mean using svp? Are you encoding your movies with motion built in?
Excellent video, very informative and easy to understand.
Hello, for the best PQ and watching 1080P / 4K movies, would you go with a 85Q90T or 82Q85T ? cheers for your help / review !
One thing I can’t stand is a dimmed screen. Is the CX very dim overall or is that fixable?
You're really good at this! 👌
Would you go 82Q800T or 77CX6 ? Bright room during the day. Cheers
Samsung . They also have anti glare screen unlike the OLED
Very very good review. One of the best I've seen thus far. Definitely helped me get in the right direction.
Looking for an OLED but that latency is terrible.
Get a new model it's far best on oled
Great video, but there is one statement you made that I have to disagree with. You stated that the QLED had better shadow detail than the OLED, and that is not correct. The native contrast ratio of the QLED is much lower than the OLED without local dimming so in the scenes with both bright and dark areas close together, the near black areas are lifted. As a result you can see them more clearly. That is not an indication of better shadow detail. Watch the TV in a very dark room and you will see exactly this.
Love the reviews. Great job
Hi Budy, Thinking to buy 75" Samsung Q950TS! Can you recommend this tv? as my son play games as well. the only worry is No Dolby Atmos or Dolby vision? this TV could be for next 10 Years!!
So did you recommend oled or QLED?
Thank you for this great report !!!
Many love greetings,
Matthias from Germany !!!
Glad I could help! Danke
First.....da man is back....great stuff
Oh yeaaa
So which tv is better for gaming? Can someone please tell me the input lag in both? Also CX has four 2.1 hdmi port, is that the UHD port? I have sky q and watch alot of UHD sport, I dont want to keep changing HD ports for gaming (when PS5 come out) with sky q port because Samsung only 1 UHD port. someone please answer!
Yes
Great video brotha
Great review would love to see more feature comparisons as some of the screen tests wouldn't mean much in real world environment tuner choice and refresh rates are important but so are the apps and usability
Just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work my brother!
🙏🏾
I wish reviewers would say upfront and very quickly which TV is better
Outstanding overview - many thanks!
