Billy's Nightmare is a fast paced roguelike game set in the nightmares of the pyjamas wearing boy Billy. What I am missing from the Devlogs is a little bit of a project overview. Where are we now? What is left to do? Milestones till release, something like that. Little bit of information other than pure content.

Hi, I'm really enjoying this devlog series. I've played the demo and what I found frustrating was that I was only able to reach the school's downstairs in the 3 times I played and then died, not being able to find any permanent upgrade and having to replay all of the same again and it felt a little repetitive. Maybe I'm just bad, idk, but it would be nice to have some feeling of progression earlier or maybe giving some way to heal in the beggining. Thats my feedback! Keep up the good work.

After killing a boss downstairs you will get stars, which can be used to buy new outfits in Mr Sandman's temple.

to make the soldier a bit more challenging you could make it so he explodes twice, like the chemist did before you fixed the bug or make him throw one of the grenades before exploding!

Woooaaaaaah, this came a long way since the last time I saw it, this looks absolutely stunning and fun, the Editor's boss fight looks very challenging as well and his design very "hacker" looking which I guess makes sense.
I guess now I'll need to watch all the devlogs I missed, may even learn something useful to my project, keep up the good work!

I’d love it when the player knows WHY certain attacks are playing (like the lunch lady and the raining food, you know why the attack pattern is what it is). Maybe during the editor fight certain clips are playing, and the shotgun blasts are the result of an on screen villain actually shooting a shotgun, or something else that would explain the attack.

Interesting boss, however it looks very difficult! 😅 Maybe add larger gaps in between each block for the shotgun round? Have you also considered using different types of projectiles? Just to change things up a bit! 😊
Thanks for the feedback, Daniel! This will be the third level, so it's supposed to be pretty difficult. But we can always balance the boss fight if people find it too difficult :)
Hey Broman, this is awesome! I think it worked out for the better that you went back to focusing mainly on the game rather than the demo. I've recently gotten back on Blobiverse development and I felt the same way-I just want to make a finished product! But on that note I loved seeing just how many phases the boss had to go through in development, people like to think development is about knowing what you want and then just developing it… but the truth is we often really don't know what we want until we're coding 😂

I think you maybe should make the floors in levels so something, like if you stay still in the chemistry room, you gradually lose health, and with the school room, you should get nauseous if you stay still

Ok here are some suggestions
First of all, the boss rooms (it feels like for quite a few bosses, mainly editor and janitor) are far too small, the editor's room looks way too small to dodge efficiently in
the enemies in this new area are much too similar to the enemies in the previous area, I get that you guys are trying to change them up, but i feel that more unique enemies are needed
Giving the player a key that, first, shows your hitbox, and also reduces speed while held is common in bullet hells, I feel like adding it would help a lot in these fights, because in the editor and the director fight, most of the time, when you get hit, its because you are walking into shots. Also giving the editor, maybe, 1 or 2 more attacks could help, maybe changing the movies screens from action to sci-fi would be cool, then you could have multiple different attacks (Btw i think a really awesome attack could be maybe a "Jaws" like movie playing on-screen, that launches a shark out of the screen at the player) thank you and good work :)

maybe a level can take on a moving train maybe it can be speed based because the train carts disconnect from the train and explode or something a boss could be the conductor

I know that this concept would be very hard to put in the game and is very risky but it can put some variety to the combat. This is very sad though because i think i put this comment i little too late considering you already put a tutorial. I think that each outfit should have and ultimate attack called a "Fantasy" or Super or whatever. Again, i know this would be hard to input in the game and it could drive some people away so i advise if u do consider to put this aspect into the game you should ask us in the next devlog (if u even are readin). This Super attack should have a charge meter that could charge when killing people. This should only work on normal enemies and not bosses.
Ideas for outfits:
Cowboy: the game freezes and a reticle is put on every opponent in the screen and they all get shot similar to mcree's ult from overwatch (deadeye)
Pyjamas: Turn the nerf pistol into A GODDAMN NERF MINIGUN for 10 seconds or something and start blasting enemies away!
Dino: You could spawn in a t rex which you could ride and chomp down on opponents!
Pirate: The game freezes and billy does a little animation where he raises his hand and a shower of cannonballs kills everyone on screen.
OR
Billy could spawn in a cannon where he could control for 10 secs or somethin and start shooting cannonballs at everybody!
Princess: She could start barfing up a ray of rainbows that obliterates enemies.
Ninja: The ninja puts out a smoke bomb on himself and when the smoke clears, he is holding a goddamn katana! ( i think u know what hes gonna do with it )
Anyways thats my suggestion i guess. I think its neat and gives the player more of a reason to get excited to buy outfits. so, do what you want with this comment and keep up the good work :D

Great job as usual! keep it up! Looks like a fun bullet hell for sure. Is it just me or are all the bosses "dark skinned" I feel like that might be a bad idea o_O.

Maybe you could add an old actress with a mini dog in a bag like if she was still famous or something, (the stereotype of old people wanting to do what they did/look when they where young) when it dies it can drop it's hair showing pureee baldness,s idk it sounds funny to me

I really like the new bosses and it really keeps the game interesting but i feel like seeing the same projectiles over is getting a little boring maybe make the editor shoot out old film or something and the director shoot out scripts that would make the game seem a lot more fun. Keep up the great work!!!!
I actually prefer the consistency with the projectiles because it would get a lot harder to see and dodge attacks if all the projectiles were different.

I notice that almost all of the characters in the game are white. There should be more ethnic diversity in the game. E.g. the editor and the lunch lady could be black. Even with the smaller opponents, one or two different colored sprites might be necessary in addition to the white ones. So far the lunch lady is the only female boss. Maybe you should make sure that a few women get leading roles in Billy's nightmares.
Otherwise good job!
New game idea:
That no red projectiles but grenades come out of the screen (Suitable for the image on the monitor, where vor example the new enemy (The worldwar 1 soldier) is shown in the film).
Shockwaves: A Shockwave around the screen deals the player within the radius damage if the Editor gets massive damage (like in a combo system).

TheBroman90 I really love the art style but I would love to see a more unique take on the boss bullets and formations because every boss I saw in the video looked like a copy of a boss from Enter the Gungeon with the director being the Bullet King and this new Editor being The Wall. This isn’t bad but I think it would give your game a lot more personality if you had fun with the bullet patterns and looks. Great stuff though!
What about making an actor as a new boss? Maybe his attacks would change depending on the which scene is playing right now. Kinda like an editor but can move

In my opinion, the room for the director is too small. Would be a good idea to make a room similar in size to the director room and make the editor invulnerable only when he is swapping between computer, like move very slowly. Then Billy won't need to avoid anything during this time, and when the director reaching his computer Billy must finish a wave of bullet hell.

I don't remember if you have this enemy or not but you should add the makeup lady. She goes around with a powder puff trying to apply makeup on you which is a toxic cloud of smoke.

What kind of error message do you get?
the last boss could be a celebrity on a stage that can spawn fans and there could be attacks where fans throw flowers that break and become projectiles and fans could throw exploding tomatoes at you
