    On point. I recently read "Teaching with Poverty in Mind". It never calls it by this name, but examines the research and really shows that social emotional learning is one of the best things for at risk students. We've got to teach and encourage good behavior to replace the bad behavior-instead of just punishing what we don't like.

    Children want to please the adults who they think will keep them safe. As a teacher, I have watched too often, children who were not recognized, get frustrated about not being seen and they act out. If a child exhibits attention-seeking behavior, give the attention POSSTIVELY. Mutual respect and relationship begins.

    I think it would be better called behaviour management talk as she doesn’t mention PBS or ABA once

    Wow, children do not suspend themselves, it takes an adult to to do that! We ought to teach when there is behavior that is not socially acceptable.
