It's so nice to find shoes available in stores and online.
Extra laces are always appreciated and I think the oval lace option would be a nice nod to the high tops. But gambit has always been my favorite. I remember watching x men as a kid and I thought he was so cool.

We're around the same age and everytime I watch one of your videos man, you always bring me back to my childhood. I had that pocket comic and a couple of the might max pocket toys. Those time were great! Live tv, no internet, and no cell phones. I don't know how kids these days would survive. Lol

Rogue going off with her powers after going through some rough personal issues was fantastic in X-Men 97
2020 high og is such a slept on, like criminally slept on
This shoe would be a perfect colour way to do a Paul Walker R34 skyline custom on, like the decals on the sides, just like Paul’s skyline. That would be dope.
They redeemed Cyclops so well in 97 and I couldn't stand him in the original show! 😅
Man I love that glossy plush leather. Wish they used it more on the highs.

Gotta go with Sabretooth. That costume redesign, him throwing cars and the potential for some deep Wolverine storylines had me hyped as a kid. At least we got some of that in the Hulk VS series.

Old enough to catch reruns of the original X Men, my favorite character was Storm in the OG, she's also my favorite in 97, followed by Nightcrawler and Gambit
Seems like i was in my 11th or 12th grade year. When the highs dropped im 40. Wish they were high. I loved these 1s.
I think Gladiator deserves an honorable mention. That dude steals the show everytime he appears lol.
Can't watch X-MEN 97 because I don't have Disney+ and I refuse to subscribe to any streaming service lol. But I loved watching X-MEN when I was a youngling and my favorite character was Beast. He was always so chill but yet could kick some serious a** with his brains, strength and agility.
Wolverine was my second favorite, and I always loved when he would go toe to toe with Sabertooth. My favorite line from Wolverine towards Sabertooth is when he called him an "egg sucking piece of gutter trash".
As I’ve gotten older I find myself buying more and more low tops. I wish they’d make the comfort 1s low top.

Picking mine up today, rate them and I’ve got the 2020 high tops so kinda completes the set, will just grab some aftermarket grey oval laces to complete it.

What about morph 🌈?
This review made me order the 2020-pair. Resell on those is less then retail for these in my country so I highly prefer a high-top over these. Especially as these do not have the leather tongue and oval laces, which in my view they should have when you "retro" the colorway.

I completely agree with you on the characters on ‘97… Rogue might’ve had the best storyline/development but I’ve never like cyclops & this damn show made me like him a lot 😅

1: I was reading Wolverine comics before I started reading X-Men, so it's Wolverine in the og series and Wolverine in '97.
2: I know they are voiced by different people, but every time Cyclops speaks, all I hear is Jerry from Rick and Morty.

I love the fact they changed the tongue to nylon from leather. The jewel is a nice touch but they could have stitched the logo and tossed in the round laces. 😂 definitely going to have more people wearing these than the 2020 hi top.

I remember buying the high tops in a 6GS back in 2001 from a store called The Athletes Foot. Had no idea they came in brief case, I assume for men’s sizes only.
Wore them to school and every cracked jokes on me. At that time 1’s weren’t “cool”.
Think I may have to get these low versions.
The 1st xmen show back then. I choose Gambit cause 1st time hearing french words. Xmen 97 is Gambit as well. His conversation with Rouge was amazing. A love that excided physical contact. 👍

I have definitely learned to be patient on these shoes until they go on sale...I'll cop for the right price...and anything xmen it will always be Gambit for me😂
The jewel jello logo kind of dissuades me from buying this 😅 As much as I find this a desirable pair, I want my J’s to age well (hence I avoided PU Jordans like 3-4-5-6) but the inevitable deterioration of the logo on the back as the years pass is quite a bummer 😑😑😑
These look better than both of the highs
I like the low version better too. I like the grey but like you I don’t care for the metallic silver. I’m glad they didn’t make the midsole in the sail too. I don’t like the stiff leather tongues either. I might be in the minority but I get tired of the white nylon stitching in the midsole. Everybody knows that they are impossible to keep clean. I wish that they would do colors for the nylon stitching.
The suitcase would have probably jacked up the price. What they should have done was to have the box with the suitcase print. If that makes sense.
While these shoes look alright, I think it's hard for me to go back to the "Retro low OGs" because the 85 joints just fit better for me.
What I love about the 85 Jordan 1 lows is the thicker ankle liner that helps prevent ankle slip, whereas on these psuedo low OGs I typically have to go down half a size to prevent heel slippage.
In the animated series I was a big fan of Wolverine (as a kid Wolverine was one of my favorites in general in terms of comics).
In the show I actually liked Gambit the most, which is strange because I wasn't a huge fan of him as a kid (although I have his first full appearance: Uncanny X-Men #266)
I think white laces would be nice on these

i love the current 1 lows og, have already four pairs but i dislike this colorway so it will be a pass from my side.

There was also the silver anniversary jordan 1, which came in the suitcase as well. I believe it's basically the same shoe.
Those are very similar to these, but had a foil looking application to the silver panels rather than silver coated leather texture.
