D: Definition/Description
What is it?
What's the description of it?
R: Reason/Rationale
Why does it happen?
Why does it matter?
C: Connection
How does it connect to everything else you're learning?
Example:
Oxygen Administration:
D: Giving supplemental oxygen to your patient. Can be at various concentrations and flow rates based on patient needs.
R: Oxygen is given when the patient can't get enough oxygen themselves. Possibly because they aren't able to get oxygen in (ventilation), or they can't circulate it through their body (perfusion).
C: Nursing Assessment: assess mucous membranes, lips and skin, check respiratory rate, look for labored or trouble breathing, listen to lungs.

@@graciie yes..Schedule your whole life… get a planner and block out time for studying…read the chapter before you go to class that way you can ask questions and when you’re reading the chapter only highlight important information( important dates, important organizations, drugs in the chapter, etc.)…try to make 1 page study guides for each chapter

HI! That's a very great advice on how to think in nursing school! Im gonna try it out ! Im in the 3rd week of nursing school and have failed my first exam bc I went to class too tired and got too comfortable since I got As on the quizzes and tests before the exam So I didnt really try too hard to study (BIG MISTAKE)

@@K13ZONGZ well honestly...I am surprised that ANYONE in our class graduated much less passed the boards. We had a new teacher that year the one that had done it for years retired and let me tell you...I think my 10yr old daughter could have done better. She was the dead last choice the school wanted cause who they wanted canceled at the last minute so they had to choose her. Only like 3 people passed the boards initially the rest had to buy stuff of the internet and study to actually learn what we needed to to be able to pass. She was without a doubt the worst teacher and VERY mean to people she didn't like...which was most. My husband almost filed a lawsuit against the school for discrimination because she took it above and beyond with him. We all have a past but some people hold that against you no matter if its been over 15 years ago. Just a horrible person all in all.

love...Failed Fundamentals by 3 points in Fall 2020. I really wish that I had discovered you sooner. I am a NON-traditional student, 55 years young...My youngest son is the same age as some of my classmates and I had no one to give me study tips for nursing school. I tried to study the same way that i studied in pre-reqs,NOT=epic fail. Retating Fundamentals is humiliating and it makes me angry every time i think about it so i try not to. Thank you so Much SOS
