I love the PNW and have been there several times. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen!
I wasn’t aware e had a rain forest until one trip I made. A friend who had moved from west texas took us everywhere during the week. We went in a limousine (lol) and we could see everything as he explained.
Of course, we spent hours walking throughout the many places from Portland to north of Seattle.
I worked out of Vancouver,WA (just home office) for 4 years required me to go several times a year and I always took a week off to travel after big corporate meetings.
Oh! The trees, mountains and falls! Just nothing like it….
I’m retired from teaching and working with educational company and haven’t been there since 2000.
    Thank you for sharing!
just found your channel and have watched all the videos of you swatching DS. You gave me such valuable information on what and WHY I might choose certain colors and avoid others.
I pray that others who are new to watercolor find these as I’ve watched every other swatching videos but never heard anything like what you explained about your reasons for adding or removing certain pigments.
You weren’t opposed to multiple pigments (ex. Quin. Gold) but explained why some can be problematic when missing with other pigments. Thank you for letting us know when a color shifted in intensity and luminosity. I’ve bought blue and had no idea it would happen! I’d watched several videos prior to purchasing.
I appreciate you explained that you chose to buy highest lightfast but didn’t act like the companies are selling us something terrible if it’s lower lightfast!!
I’ve had professional artist who make EXCELLENT living just by their paintings and few workshops that are expensive and booked for years. They teach worldwide and they have pigments that aren’t #1 lightfast.
They have said that most people put under a uv protective glass and no one would have ever placed it in sunlight.
I was told that they thought it’s a shame that some amateurs who have a pretty large following on RUclips are so critical and call companies who have been around for centuries in to question…. Some have even disputed their information and they have chemists; quality control and outside testing done. We can only put them in direct sunlight for a year and tell others what we see is all they should rely upon.
Thank you, thank you and again THANK YOU for NOT doing anything close to this!!!
You simply explained your decision, what you read and where you found it without disparaging the company!!! It was VERY refreshing..
Sorry, I should have written this on the swatching videos.
I just started to comment on sharing the beautiful scenery and your talent in photography which truly made me feel as though I was there!!

aw thank you for the lovely reflection and feedback! I appreciate it very much. And, I'm glad that my approach to talking about pigments resonated with you. I also feel like our online culture is so fast to make absolute statements about what is best (or the worst, more often than not). My personal philosophy is to research (I'm a total gear nerd :), decide what aligns with my painting or hiking goals (and personal ethics where applicable), and then find the best gear or paint etc that aligns with those goals. :)

Looks like the pacific northwest. I've a always wanted to live there but it's easy too liberal for my blood. I don't want my family to have to avoid stepping in human feces or on needles to get where they are going. Beautiful country though. I pray it stays that way.

PNW is right! And it is an incredibly beautiful area.
