    thanks Jake, this is a good driill to prepare for the stress of a competition and also serves to develop the proper rithm while focusing on good execution. I am using the tabata timer you suggested a few videos ago in order to pause and go at the 20 second intervals and i also liked the feel of having a controlled sequence to perform. Definetely not easy, and yes starting with the arrow nocked helps! Good Video.

    I would shoot 6-8 arrows/end indoors as Barebow when I had the range to myself or if the other archers sharing the range are willing. Was taking around 2-3 mins for that.
    Allowed me to really build up the arrow count/strength etc, also to really focus and find a groove.

    This looks like an awesome drill to do, I'll try this out next time I'm at the range. Maybe to help develop the rhythm for this, a beginner/intermediate could use a tabata timer with 12 20 second sets with zero second rests.

    New to your channel, and relatively new to archery.
    I wonder if for timed drills like this, having a Garmin or similar watch, and setting some timing beeps or vibrations might be a good way to control the pacing, without having to glance at a phone? Could also set up timing beeps on a phone.
    Maybe archers don't like wearing watches?

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  3 года назад

      I wear one normally on my left wrist. Yea I could use a tabata timer too. Usually I just use the timer that is found on the field but this is practice. Just demonstrating that even without a $500 Garmin watch, you can do it too.

    I suffered with you the last two or three arrows. I know that feeling and it is not nice. Whole body shaking, not being able to pull through the clicker as normal. And the clock ticking...This is a drill that I will implement in my routine but I will probably struggle earlier in the round than you did and most likely more than you did

    12 arrows in 4 minutes, is one round. how many rounds in total? and how much rest between rounds?

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  Год назад

      A whole training day after an end of warmup or two. I’d shoot up to 300 arrows in a session this way and take as much rest as it would take to quickly walk to the target, pull arrows and return.

    ok-serious question-do you have like 20/10 vision because I’m 20/20 with glasses but cannot even hold a compound sight pin steady at 70 yards or even see it that clear so idk how you doing this?

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  3 года назад +4

      I actually have bad vision. I wear contacts to correct my vision, but with time you can develop the skill to aim. It’s about watching where you want the arrow to go, not about controlling the sight pin so much.

    Hey Jake. I often have trouble anchoring the tab shelf properly on my jaw. Sometimes I end up anchoring between the top of the tab and my first finger instead of between the tab shelf and the top of the tab. Should I lower the shelf? Do you have any advice. Close to competition and afraid to lower the shelf now, but if I can adjust and get used to it in the 4 weeks I have left I am willing to try.

    When I think 4 minutes is a long time to cycle thru 12 arrows in 8 runs...it tends to show my need for form improvement & more practice. 😬

  • @petrokemikal
    @petrokemikal 2 года назад

    Incredible how consistent you actually need to be to hit the yellow 70 meter's away.. I was watching Kim Woo jin last week and he makes it look like its nothing.. I imagine if you even took a week off training you'd start to see discrepancy's in shots downrange..

  • @martinottosson6583
    @martinottosson6583 3 года назад

    For barebow, put a tape on the string for the right crawl and you can just grip the string directly. Barebow is MUCH easier. I can barely do 12 arrows @20s interval with olympic recurve with kept shot quality, but with barebow can shoot atleast 36 arrows while keeping a decent timing and form.

    Jake, also could you comment on how or what do you use to edit this shooting videos. The PiP video and sound feels precise with respect to arrow flight time to target. Thanks

    • @JakeKaminskiArchery
      @JakeKaminskiArchery  3 года назад

      I have two cameras, setup a PiP screen setting and turn the target camera volume off, listen for the impact on the shooter camera and que up the impact on the target at the time the thud is heard on the shooter camera. So technically it’s delayed how long the sound takes to travel from the target to the camera.

    • @octaviogarcia5457

      Sounds simple enough. Will look into my video editor to see if it supports pip. In case it does not, do you recommend one?
