I'm a new DM who foolishly selected Tyranny of Dragons to run for my group. I appreciate the effort you've put in explaining this whole campaign, without your videos I probably would've scrapped the story after the raiders camp.
Yeah, really appreciate this video! I've been revamping so much in this module. Your thoughts are spot on, and I'll likely be incorporating some of them!
Running a mashup campaign of Tyranny of Dragons / Storm King's Thunder, and you are my go to guy for HotDQ & RoT. Series couldn't be better timed either. Thank you for this legendary content!
Man I am SO HAPPY someone is making a complete guide of RoT. I am a new DM and am about to implement RoT in my homebrew campaing, so it is AMAZING to finally have a proper guide on how to DM this to get inspiration
@@LutesDice yeah man, you're a life saver XD i read the book like, 4 times already, and barely had any clue on what to do. The Sea of moving Ice chapter was the only one I got some idea on what to do. Cant wait to see the Well Of Dragons video, because that final battle still confuses me a lot
@@Springy05 heh, yeah. I hope I can still make it on time for you. Cause, boy, have these two years been merciless on me. A lot of stuff slows me down.
@@LutesDice Ooooof good luck for you, mate. I'm moving now to adapt the Skyreach Castle part of HoDQ so that the change to RoT is more well adapted. But with so much you already posted and the fact that we play only once a week may help to slow things down a bit. Still, keep the great work, because you're about to save my life XD
I really appreciate how you break things out in terms of story inconsistencies, lore and character motivations: some stuff the book is sorely lacking While listening to this video I also had a MAJOR BRAINWAVE for my RoT that I'm about to run, since one of the PCs is from the misty forest!
Adding on to the pile. Love the complete chapter by chapter guide for ToD. Thank you 9001. Running this now, left off with the party about to assassinate Pharblex Spattergoo.
I’m currently reworking the village to be more like the hidden villages in OH Naruto, where politically everything is in order, but most people don’t even know how to get there
I feel this chapter of the campaign needs a lot better motivation for the bad guys. „Oh, we need more treasure“ is really played out az this point of the campaign. My personal approach here is, that Chuth and the Wormspeaker have been tasked with attacking the military forces of the elven King, since he wants to amass an army of capable archers and unite them with the Lord‘s alliance forces. Good archers would be valuable for the Lords in a fight against flying dragons. These archers are currently scathered in these woods and Chuth‘s task is to take out the different small groups until they can all gather at one place and become too dangerous for a frontal assault. And THAT‘s why he attacks different elven settlement, he goes for the places the archers are stationed at the moment. That allowed me to give the dragon a better motivation, it ties in more closely to the overall plot and the Lord‘s Alliances AND it allowed me to create this need archer-stat-block for really powerful elven archers which I can use in the final battle, if they make it there. I‘m sure there are other ways of giving Chuth better motivations, but I really wouldn‘t go with „we want treasure“ yet again.

Thank you for continuing this series! Wrapping up Hoard of the Dragon Queen right now, can't wait to get to Rise!
