A good friend of mine from Duetschland told me his Dad told him that from the summer of '44 until the surrender they were all using Ami weapons and ammo. At least the smart ones were...
That is not 100% correct. While the German army from 1944 would use any weapon, tank (and even some Mustang airplanes) they could capture, they weren´t impressed witht the M1 Garand yet they liked the Thompsons, but only got them in small numbers from 1944 on. However the captured US firearms don´t match up to the huge number of weapons taken from the Soviets from 1941 on. The soviet SVT 40 rifle was so far spread along German troops that it even got a German field manual as G.259(r). And quite a lot of captured PPSch-41 submachine gun would be directly distributed to German frontline troops due to its high effectiveness in CQB.
People always butthurt about reservists. At least in the Marine Corps, we go through the same schools we get the same training as active duty when they get activated to go through the work up prior to deployment. Many of them are also prior service guys, most top recruits from Bootcamp or Marines in SOI tend to be reservist as well. 🇺🇸
So what makes the Reservists scary is they somehow have a lower readiness to deploy than the National Guard, as far as I know. Everything I hear about the Army Reserve is bad. Out of shape, never deploy, very corrupt.
Wrong. Most are very good at their jobs. BUT... there are NO Army Reserve combat units. The National Guard (State-run) does that. The Army Reservists are Supply Specialists, Water Purification units, Medics, Truck Drivers, Fuel Handlers, Signals Battalions, and Construction/Engineering units. They are basically support units to help the "grunts" do their jobs.

They're out of shape, no marksmanship, no idea how to address an officer, and their vehicles are from Vietnam. The only thing they have is motivation! When they get word that they're going to be activated, they all come running without question. And they all end up dead, crippled, or just worse off than before.
Any war movies based on conflicts in the last 30yrs I just cant stand.
We need another Stanley Kubrick to make this generations full metal jacket.
It's really hard for me to pretend like western forces are against the odds persevering when in reality we are the fn Michael Jordan Olympic team vs some west Virginia middle school
I need another extremely pessimistic realistic look at modern war. I think vet TV is on point, its vet material made by vets, I think someone should team up with that sickphuck and make a real accurate modern war film for a change
I mean Jarhead says this lol. They didn't even fire a shot at enemy combatants. Did you not like this series as well?
@@HeyItsJoe1 that movie was pretty accurate, it also completely inspired by full metal jacket
I just cant pretend like some delta force guys are against the odds against some village cousins and uncles with Soviet weapons dropped 40yrs earlier
This series is one of the most realistic representations of modern war ever, if you search the real footage of the events you can see it. The movies you are referring to are act of valor, lone Survivor an such...
@@guillermo7298 I didnt mean it so much as a direct shot at any one particular series or movie
All I'm saying is it's hard for me to see modern western forces fighting a custards last stand style battle, we are just so much more advanced it's hard to think with all our advantages that any pajama wearing 45yr old Soviet weapon bearing 90lb teen Muslim or 50yr old Muslim being such a overwhelming threat, atleast compared to like Nazi SS guys or viet cong or the confederates
I understand these guys have heroic stories that need to be told, just it doesnt have to be Saving Private Ryan, it's more of a disservice to inaccurately portray their battles instead of reality
I liked the little action there was in Zero Dark Thirty, I felt that was much more indicative of what modern special ops do, get the job done even if something goes wrong
I hate American sniper alot and finding out alot of it was lies hurts even mode because A. He was a hero without embellishing his service and B. There are many other heroes that dont need embellishment
I digress
There's definitely some cheesey old war movies
Bob by The Vietcong were pajama and leave wearing farmers that used decade old weapons. Although the North Vietnamese were a regular professional army, they still were in the stone age in comparison to the Americans. What war movies really need to depict is the hatred that the populace has for Americans. The taliban and the insurgents in Iraq were not aliens, they were the Iraqi’s neighbors and friends. Nobody in these past wars since WW2 have found themselves feeling liberated
i need context why were American reservists shooting at their own people.
Supreme incompetence
@@izzi8459 seems about right
It´s dark, people are tripping balls after not sleeping enough for days on. Somebody shouts´Contact Northwest"...everybody starts spreading the love in a wide arc (just ot be sure).
And you got a blue on blue incident. It happens quite a lot, regardless of unit type and training level.
@@christophdunkel5733 i like this answer
According to Evan Wright, in the book, Bravo Company's Humvees are fitted with strobe lights, only visible with NV/IR, to designate a friendly indication. To the inexperienced reservist and at a certain range, they do only look like muzzle flashes from small arms fire
Hollywood is awesome.... the "armored HHMVV's" in the beginning could not stop/deflect a .22cal round.... let alone NATO rounds..... same vehicle "armor" was on the HHMVV's in Somalia...and a 9mm round would go thru the vehicle.... still a great series
9mm
I think they just didn't get shot 👍
Those HMMWVs were not armored, at all, many had soft tops/doors.
Meanwhile yall are being bitches
That driver was definitely me
