WOW! I'm so glad this video just came across my home page. I was so fortunate to meet Shelly at the 1975 Edsel Owner's Club convention in Arlington, Texas that summer. He gave me a handkerchief that was a tricolor green, white and black, I'm sure it's around here somewhere, He said I want you to have this since you came all the way from California to join us. ☺ We had a convoy of Edsel's to Six Flags Over Texas, Shelly asked me to ride along with him. I remember setting in the back seat of his turquoise 1959 Edsel convertible with his son as we rode along and I mentioned that I'd never seen so many beautiful redheaded girls until I came to Texas and his son said he preferred blonds. 😂 I was 20 at that time and it was a wonderful few days. 😁
Great story about the man and his Edsel
Dang, that got me.
TCR has that effect on a lot of folks,👍🥹
Great episode! Bob was visibly moved.
Bob and his stories are a great representative of our great state, God Bless Bob, Shamrock (Edselman) and Texas!
This video brought me to tears, so touching…time marches on…
A story that tugs at yer heart .... but cherished none the less. Time Marches On...
What a great video, thanks for sharing
That was really great, awesome story and very interesting man. I believe the 1960 Edsel Ranger convertible had really low production numbers, I believe only 76 were made.
Amazing. Thank you.
I am a 47 year old female who loves restoring antique cars and bringing them back to life people can. Call me and shamrock stupid for loving these edsels but I tell you the edsels are cool and unique I wish I could go to shamrocks place and help him restore all those beauties back to life 😢thank you for sharing this it touches my heart and soul❤
Wow, what a story.
Great show! What a treasure he is and so was that tape he had for you. Appreciate your stories😊
The Edsel is name after Edsel Ford , his biography is sad , as this video seeing those old cars rusted out . Shamrock seems like a true gentleman
That old man reminds me of an old Southern Flim Flam man.😅
Wonderful story of a bygone era. Peace be with you Mr. Shelley Cleaver. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice.
Edsel got a Bad Rap back then. Yes, they had some Minor problems, like the shift buttons in the steering column that they did fix and corrected by moving them to the Dash. and a few Minor New car problems(a few Commentators in later years admitted being to hash). I also liked the look of the Original Edsel's, as they Combine the 1930's with the 1950's styling along with one the first Production cars with 4 headlights(Remember this was 1957)..🤔
I never thought the Edsel ugly but rather unique.
I did not know they even made a 'Ranchero' equivalent. I have never seen one of those ever.
WOW!
My favorite
All of US are walking in the same direction, to the same path . Live is to short to have the wrong car and to have the wrong girl 😊.
Life is good .
He needs a golf cart or UTV.
The Edsel was a punchline on "The Dick Van Dyke Show". It was a punchline on a lot of shows, but that was one I watched.
So sad they have deteriorated... As a Corvair owner, I can appreciated his love of the Edsel.
God bless him
"Boy, she was somethin' back in '60." 'The Front Porch Song', Robert Earl Keen
If I had the money, I'd love to have those restored for him
No interest!?? Are you kidding? Shamrock's collection is priceless!! There are collectors, car clubs, and probably even Ford corporate would be interested in every one of those. That Edsel pickup is EXTREMELY rare!!
Is there no way some car collectors can help save these autos and help Shamrock?
They are worth a mint
If you found someone that is a good lip reader you could get a lot of the words on that old tape, he gave you. I watched it and many of the people were speaking right to the camera. You could take some of the words from the old tape.
Wow, what a guy, its a shame your not allowed to be a character or different anymore, youre looked upon as a lunatic here in England UK, Thats what makes America so great, its accepted, Shelly is a character, no doubt, bless him. I drive a 1959 Edsel Corsair here in this troubled and judgemental country once called Great Britian, now the Great has gone, we call it UK.
Wasnt the Ford Edsel. Just an Edsel...made by Ford.
❤
What's a UTV ,don't you mean a ATV ?
He needs a golf cart to get around his place
The Edsel really wasn't much worse than some other cars built in that era. Chrysler had some strange-looking vehicles, too/
Dang I’m moved myself
I know shamrock is sad they have been left like that just sad.
Classic stuff.
