    One thing I've been aware of after racing for a few months is to not stick your nose into situations where the risk isn't worth it. Keeping this in mind has helped me jump from 1800 to 2200 iRating over the last month, with a huge jump in SR to boot.

    Far to often I am the guy who is wrecked due to drivers who when a guy makes a move that simply can't work.
    I have been wrecked from P3 today in the Mazda MX cars on the grid.
    I was killed before the first corner.
    I was crashed from 2nd by a lapped car that moved over to let me buy and then drove thorugh me.
    And I was punted from 3rd another time.
    Today I finished 3rd once, last, 5th.
    I had the pace to win every one of those races.
    Iracing is killing me man.

    Very fun series, recently joined iRacing, was doing great but this week has kicked my ass - been able to hold onto my safety rating but like -176 iRating and although at first I blamed everyone else, I realize I was being too aggressive all the time putting my self and those "who wrecked me" in a spot to wreck me, thanks for doing this and keep doing!

    • @DoriN12
      @DoriN12  2 года назад +1

      It takes some time to adapt to open wheelers, the mx5 for example allows a fair bit of contact without it being game over. Not so much with open wheelers, it requires more patience and awareness for sure. The up side is that they are great fun to drive, so it makes it all worth it, especially once you get the hang of it.

    My usual problem is I either go into a race too hot too early or I decide to make moves at the wrong times without much knowledge of what the driver in front of me will do. I'm class C and my irating has been destroyed because of moves I make that aren't thought out. I watched this earlier today then took what you broke down in this and applied it to my race just now. Qualified 6 and finished 3 with only a 1x for a minor off track. I thought I was aware of what I should do before but this gave me a much better understanding of how to be more patient and calm with my racing and overtakes! Thank you for such great content 🤘🏻

      This is precisely why I do this series, I'm really happy to hear it mate. As you've probably figured out already, it's not a matter of driving skill, at least not in a classical way. What helps you do better in races is the old brain. That's the problem for the most part, being eager, getting over excited, not examining other driver's behavior, that will get you killed more often then not. Keep diggin' 😉

      100%, If there's one message I wanted to bring across in this video, it's exactly that. Seems pretty obvious when you say it out loud but a lot of people neglect the fact that if you spend more time racing and less time crashing you'll get better haha

  • @jacks9374
    @jacks9374 2 года назад

    This series shows what everyone should do in a race, I use to think I was the only one who races like this, but since getting to 2k irating after 3 to 4 of months of being at 800ir i slowly found out that many of the safer drivers are found in the higher splits.
    And keep up the good content!

    • @DoriN12
      @DoriN12  2 года назад

      Thanks Jack, there's a lot to be gained by being aware and respectful on track, you don't have to be uber fast to get a good position if you just focus on finishing the race first. especially in open wheelers haha

    Nice one! I've been trying to think about my own races more and plan ahead, but this has been a pretty shitty week for me race wise. How do you pick up on that adaptability to be able to plan ahead but still be heads up enough to react to what others are doing? I feel like I'm getting caught in other people's mistakes a lot.

    • @DoriN12
      @DoriN12  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Jay, I think a lot of it comes down to leaving as much space as I can to the drivers in front of me. The greater the distance, the more time you'll have to react. Like when we were 3 wide into the hairpin, you'll notice I was lifting on the straight well before the braking point, because I knew that once the two drivers in front of me will go 2 wide they will slow themselves down enough for me to catch up easily anwyays, so there was no need to stay close to them, which is what gave me enough time to react to any unpredictability.

    Needed to watch this after being punted twice in one F3 Spa race. Why do people think they’re gonna win the race in T1 from 11th?

    • @DoriN12
      @DoriN12  2 года назад +1

      Ahh shame Dylan, F3's are tough to survive, fun as they are...
      I think there's a misconception regarding the early part of the race, a lot of people think that if they'll get a good position right off the bat, it'll be smooth sailing from that point on. Usually, it's because they are scared of hard racing, so they just want to get it over with asap. As you can testify, that's not a great idea...

  • @550LMS
    @550LMS 2 года назад

    Loving this series, I feel many drivers even around 2500 IR should do well to watch this...
    Side note, maybe it's just me, but I never got along with the Formula Renault 2.0...I bought it as there where a few exciting races coming up with it and not such great ones with F3.5/F3, and I read so many positives things about FR2.0, but ultimately I was quite disappointed. The F3 and (obviously) F3.5 are quite exciting to drive, whereas the 2.0 was really, really toned down, predictable....boring. Tried very hard but couldn't get excited about racing it.

    • @DoriN12
      @DoriN12  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man 😀 I think I'm learning from this as well so I'd say I agree, there's a lot of people that can pick up from this.
      Maybe you just like the speedy things, that's okay, I guess the advantage of the FR 2.0 is that you have more time to react to your mistakes and have an easier time to chase as it's not so aero dependent, it could help generate closer racing then the F3/3.5, but no doubt it's not exciting to drive.

    • @550LMS
      @550LMS 2 года назад

      @@DoriN12 Pleasure man, always enjoy your down to earth style when doing videos.
      I think part of the reason why I didn't get to enjoy the FR2.0 was also because of the time zone I'm in, the servers where particularly empty, so the pack spread out quite quickly. I typically found myself a while behind the top 1-2 guys, but well ahead of the rest...and with a predictable car, it made for quite uninspiring racing.

      I race my main account all the time, and if you would have watched until the end you could see that I gave the positions back, as I clearly stated I didn't want any iRating on this account. I'm using this smurf to help get a message across, not flex on 1k drivers. But either way, thanks for watching and giving your input, never hurts to have people wanting to keep me in check 😉

      And if you had watched the end you’d see the positions donated back.
