I haven't played for 40 years but I bought my granddaughter and myself ukuleles yesterday. I couldn't even hold a g yesterday and today it already feels natural. This seems easy enough to learn. I'll just need singing lessons.

1. Muscle memory will make things a lot easier over time. Practice. 2. The skin on your fingertips will get thicker, making them a lot more sustainable and also allowing you to press the strings more easily without your fingertips hurting.

I play the guitar but what helped me is trying to press the string with the bone of your finger not the pad. So that your fingers arent flat on the neck, make them like a birds claw.

For the people who can’t play the G cord or switch to it: What I did is watch my self put my fingers on the G cord take it off put my fingers on the C cord and tried to switch from those to then I did Am it G and so on then Fm to G and so on I just tried switching back-and-forth watching myself then slowly trying not to watch myself Hope this helped
I had the same problem too I tried to switch back and forth between G and C chords slowly, lifting a finger at a time and switching between different fingers at a particular position so that I'm comfortable switching them faster I also tried using metronome. Now I've gotten pretty much better. Hope this was helpful

I'm Litterally paused at 2:46( havent even watched the whole video), and just played the entire riptide song- omg- now that I try it, i completely understand why everyone talks about how easy it is😂💀 I actually did the easy version (strum- 1234- strum- 1234) till the chorus, when I started strumming 4 times for each chord. It sounds nice😌

This was a good supplement for another video I was watching for strumming patterns. It's a simple song that helped a lot with building technique. If you're struggling trying to play a g chord, don't stress it. Just keep going between the two chords, and eventually it will be second nature. I promise you it will be second nature over time. She didn't become a musician by picking up the instrument without practice. My advice is to make sure you are driving yourself and family nuts to learn this song. If you haven't then You're just playing it wrong!
Its actually pretty easy, as long as you take it slow, and then practice a bit more. You'll come about it in no time. The important part is that you keep on trying. I know its pretty hard on your first try. Because your muscle in your hands are new to it, so your brain is a bit confused. But when you practice it, your hands and your brain will cooperate.

I don't know why but G for my ukelele sounds nothing like yours. I made sure it was in tune and it was, I tried pressing harder on the strings it didn't work I tried lightly pressing them it didn't work either. Maybe it's just because I have plastic strings I think? PLease help!
You could try moving your fingers closer to the line (the metal like part of the ukulele, where fret is divided) of the fret. Maybe your fingers are a bit far thats why you cant hear it.

Something I felt was helpful to learning to switch from chords was doing single down strums over and over 1:46 until my hands got used to switching between chords. Hope this helped. Update: I also found that what she was doing at 2:24 was really helpful, practicing strumming and switching chords without doing the real strumming pattern. This might help your brain with switching chords for an upbeat pace.

For the people who can’t play the G cord or switch to it:
What I did is watch my self put my fingers on the G cord take it off put my fingers on the C cord and tried to switch from those to then I did Am it G and so on then Fm to G and so on I just tried switching back-and-forth watching myself then slowly trying not to watch myself

tiafao in the beginning it’s needed to watch yourself once you get the hang of it you stop watching that’s how I learned with guitar
I had the same problem too
I tried to switch back and forth between G and C chords slowly, lifting a finger at a time and switching between different fingers at a particular position so that I'm comfortable switching them faster
I also tried using metronome. Now I've gotten pretty much better.

This was a good supplement for another video I was watching for strumming patterns. It's a simple song that helped a lot with building technique. If you're struggling trying to play a g chord, don't stress it. Just keep going between the two chords, and eventually it will be second nature. I promise you it will be second nature over time. She didn't become a musician by picking up the instrument without practice. My advice is to make sure you are driving yourself and family nuts to learn this song. If you haven't then You're just playing it wrong!

Its actually pretty easy, as long as you take it slow, and then practice a bit more. You'll come about it in no time. The important part is that you keep on trying. I know its pretty hard on your first try. Because your muscle in your hands are new to it, so your brain is a bit confused. But when you practice it, your hands and your brain will cooperate.

I don't know why but G for my ukelele sounds nothing like yours. I made sure it was in tune and it was, I tried pressing harder on the strings it didn't work I tried lightly pressing them it didn't work either. Maybe it's just because I have plastic strings I think? PLease help!

Well ukelele strings are made out of nylon
Sameee. What I did for instead was put my fingers on the 1st and 3rd string 2nd fret.
You could try moving your fingers closer to the line (the metal like part of the ukulele, where fret is divided) of the fret. Maybe your fingers are a bit far thats why you cant hear it.

Something I felt was helpful to learning to switch from chords was doing single down strums over and over 1:46 until my hands got used to switching between chords. Hope this helped.
Update: I also found that what she was doing at 2:24 was really helpful, practicing strumming and switching chords without doing the real strumming pattern. This might help your brain with switching chords for an upbeat pace.
